Tarmon Gaidon - already here?

Is there something somewhere that says TG is going to be one battle, or a few days of intense battle?

If not... is it possible that we're already in Tarmon Gaidon? That ever since the very beginning of the books we've been fighting TG? I mean surely the definition of TG is the battle to determine the fate of the Light and the Dark? Well, we're doing that already. Every battle tips the scales one way or the other. We're already picking off the Forsaken, the DO is already breaking free.

We keep saying 'When TG comes', but what if we're already halfway through it?

I don't have the exact quotes but it's said that the "dead walking are the first sign that TG is getting closer" (or something along those lines).

There has been a lot of discussion if Lan will make it to Tarwins Gap before the battle is over and so forth here on the boards because people think the last book will be almost instant battle. For me, I don't  see it like that. It'll be a month at least before Mat makes it to the 'finns and rescues Moiraine. I'm thinking at least 1/3 of the book in.. before the last battle really starts.

In the long run though, I guess you could say it has already started, but the real battle portion of it is yet to come. :)

Actually, the same thought occurred to me. Though I can't proove it in any sense of the word, and it seems to be geared so that TG will occur in the last book, but hey. I still like the theory. ;)

You could look at it this way - the war between the shadow and the light is and has been underway for some time now (actually, I don't think it ever really ends).  I don't have any references to quote but I've always held it in my mind that TG is the LAST battle between the light and the shadow, the outcome of which will determine once and for all which holds dominion over creation.  In this sense, though the characters in the books have been fighting the war, the last battle has yet to come.

"There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time."

I doubt that Tarmon Gai'don will actually be the end. The first paragraph of Chapter 1 of every book in the Wheel of Time describes the Third Age as "an Age yet to come, an Age long past", so this implies that Tarmon Gai'don has happened many times before and will happen many times in the future.

Didn't Moridin tell Rand in the first book that their had bin a fight between the dark one and the makers since the start of time, so it's likely thats their bin many TG before...

Likely TG will come as a long time battle with a climax when rand taks his armies and Ashamahns to Shayol Goul, and I think it's not likely that rand will lett Mat travle around for abouth two more months. It's more likely that he will find Mat, and take him to the tower himself, and Lan will be in the last batle. It wouldn't be the same without him there :P
