We've received reliable word that Warners are in the early stages of trying to relaunch the popular action series. Not a bad idea, everyone loves the films, and Mel Gibson could really do with a hit or two right now. Will it happen? I'd say there's a much better chance of it happening now - because of the old heroes being dusted off left, right and center - but it ain't going to be easy convincing everyone that a fourth sequel is worthwhile. It's going to have to be a strong script.

'Candlestick' works for one of the big men involved in the series - and offers us a little update.

 

"Hey Clint, still working over here at [place of employment removed] as [position]. Probably no surprise to hear, but there's more Lethal talk. Apparently the whole trend of resurrecting old action heroes, like John McClane (in "Live Free or Die Hard") and John Rambo has spurred them on. Twelve months after Gibson turned down the offer to do a fifth one, they're trying again. Something might have changed - guess his career is kind of in the shitter? - because it seems to be going somewhere. That's this week anyway. We shall see. Danny Glover's not committing until he sees a script."

Mel might be tough to crack. They have been trying to get him to do a new Mad Max for ages as well, but he aint budging.

hmmm if thats the case, make his character 'change' from a sucidal cop on a pyscho rampage, to a ex-sucidal cop on a psycho rampage who turned to religion only to find his 'church' is housing a major conspiracy. >_> (Yea, I'm finding it hard to work this angle....)

We get the original scripts near the end of the year.  They also tend to get less play in the press as people know little about them.  I much prefer movies in November and December than any other time.
