One of the answers from an interview with Napier you would think he would be in a good position to have some inside knowledge.

 

WiC: I'm so curious to see how the show navigates, the stuff that the readers know, may or may or may not be coming for Alanna and Maksim, we'll say. Obviously a lot of us are rooting for the show to get more seasons. If The Wheel of Time is renewed, what's an aspect of Maksim that you'd really like to explore more in the future?

TN: You know, I got to do so much of it this season with the fighting. That was one of the things that I really wanted to explore. I think moving forward, I'd love to see kind of what we start in season 3 blossom a little bit more. Alanna is such a leader, and she's such a badass, and I want to see Maksim step into that more. Not that he's not kind of a badass, but it's sort of like a painful crawl to get him there. And so I'd like to see him just step up as much as possible going forward and be the number two she needs, or the general that she needs in her army.

One Great Captain was already killed, so General Maksim stepping into that role completely makes sense in this show…

That’s a hell of a question to ask about a character that effectively doesn’t exist in the book.

they travelled there through the ways, and he was the guide. he could have left immediately.

My point, though is that he said he wanted to chronicle history in the making (my words, not his; I’d have to go back for the direct quote), but then he doesn’t follow the Dragon Reborn, he doesn’t follow the blower of the Horn, he followed a guy who went home because he was homesick…

Goldeneyes though. Also, Perrin may just have asked him offscreen given the need to use the Ways and his generally helpful demeanor.

He was also suffering from the Longing, Perrin did mention in episode 2 that they should have gone to a stedding first."  Clearly they were talking about going to a stedding in general as part of their travels.

I don’t think so.  That would have been good motivation for Perrin but I think he just wanted to go home because he missed it.

Quickest way to get to the Two Rivers while also avoiding the eyes of the Shadow that had just attacked them the previous night.

Quickest is not really valid as the danger of the ways outweighs usage without dire need.

Avoiding the eyes is a bit strange as he is heading to a place they would definitely look for him after losing him.

Well, he did know that he murdered the father of a guy who knew him as “Two Rivers” and that dude seemed a little unhinged at their last encounter.

Unhinged was a fairly reasonable reaction considering his father had just died.

Also if that was his concern should he have not just returned to the 2 rivers directly from Falme. I mean he really had nothing to do in Tar Valon at all.

Maybe he wanted to spend time with his friends. Maybe Moiraine wanted to keep them all together. Maybe going to Tar Valon and using the Waygate there was still faster than traveling by land from Falme. 
 

Not everything has to be spelled out.

Not everything has to be spelled out but you can't also just ignore everything that does not make sense.

 

It cannot be possible that travelling to Tar Valon and then waygating was faster as the whitecloaks from Falme beat them to the 2 rivers by a significant margin.

Maybe Perrin could not get a horse, maybe.

 

Why did he not take the Waygate from Falme then?

 

Look you are going to continue to come up with implausible reasons on the why lets just stop.
