Ok time to check the well

Story Update – Day 4, Midday (Continued):
You leave the shrine garden and return to the quiet heart of Windrest Hollow. The old well still sits untouched, its sealed stone lid inscribed with faint Spirit glyphs. But this time, something different stirs.

The Flickerling Sprout, still forming, pulses warmly at your side. Threads of soft light drift from your Codex to the glyphs. A shimmer appears—the sealed echo responds not just to Spirit, but to your bond.

You kneel beside the well. The wind hushes.

A spectral shimmer rises like mist—faint whispers in an ancient tongue. You hear laughter, sorrow, and a familiar voice echoing across time:

“Balance shattered… Air divided… Seek the one who walks above the wind.”

The vision fades, but a small crystalized Memory Fragment forms above the well. The Flickerling hovers curiously, absorbing some of the residual energy. You feel it change slightly.

Outcome of the Choice:

  • You interacted with the Sealed Echo using your Spirit Familiar.
  • Received: Memory Fragment – Whisper of the Wind (Can be used at a Spirit shrine or in Air-touched places for insight or fusion).
  • The Flickerling Sprout has grown slightly:
    • Trait Revealed: Curious Echo – Enhances interactions with echoes, illusions, and lingering memories.
    • Spirit cooldown bonus now slightly stronger.
    • Familiar bond deepened. Further evolution possible.

Updated Stats & Inventory:

  • HP: 27 / 27
  • EP: 17 / 17
  • Flickerling Sprout: Early stage familiar (Bond Strength: Moderate)
    • Trait: Curious Echo
    • Bonus: +1 Spirit Weave cooldown efficiency (now increased to +2 in echo zones)

Inventory Additions:

  • Memory Fragment – Whisper of the Wind

Next Choices – Afternoon Approaches:

  1. Visit the eastern path toward the cliffs – Rumors say it leads to forgotten Skyreach trails
  2. Speak to the shrinekeeper – They may understand the echo’s meaning
  3. Check on the herbalist’s stall – Supplies may be restocked
  4. Meditate with the Wispkin – Might evolve your familiar further
  5. Begin local work (New) – Help with village tasks to earn coins or supplies

Let me know your next move!

We love our little friend

Story Update – Day 4, Afternoon:

You return to the glade where the Wispkin flutter like living breezes. Tiny beings of wind and Spirit, they spiral gently around the shrine grove, responding to your presence—and your Flickerling Sprout.

The Wispkin pause in mid-air as you kneel to meditate. The sprout floats beside you, then suddenly lifts into the air, glowing bright as it spins amidst the Wispkin spiral. A low harmonic tone hums through the glade.

Your Codex glows. A connection deepens.

Visions flicker: the sky above stormed peaks… air currents dancing like threads of fate… a distant memory of joy, freedom, and flight.

The Flickerling drops gently into your hands—changed.

Off to work we go?

If you have caught the shopping bug it's either work or leave the safety of the village and hope to find loot.

I wonder if the Inn will come back.

Well we were trying to get the Air Temple before Kevin sidetracked us so maybe we should just get on with getting our masteries of the elements before we settle down to a 9 to 5? I think we are too young to settle down, no matter how great a steady reliable life with Kevin sounds.

That is so not my experience of NPCs, lol. Always got me annoyed when they would sell you stuff for a hundred gold and then buy it back for 1 gold especially in things like Diablo when you were literally travelling into demon-infested dungeons to save their village but they cannot sell that shield you sold by mistake back to you except at a 10x mark up. Ooo, and mobs that fight you in a full suit of armour with two huge axes and then drop a rusty penknife when they die, sooo annoying lol.

I'm sure they have done skits on those already.

Why would you sell anything in Diablo? Salvage all that stuff for materials.

Onwards to the eastern path.

Story Update – Day 4, Afternoon:

You leave Windrest Hollow through the eastern path, a narrow trail winding between wind-carved stones and whispering trees. Chimes strung along old posts clatter softly, guiding you toward the high cliffs said to mark the beginning of the Skyreach Trails.

The air thins as you ascend. Clouds swirl below the edge, and the ground feels charged—like standing on the edge of a storm. A shattered shrine juts from the rocks, etched with ancient Air glyphs long faded by wind and time. Your Codex pulses, reacting faintly.

Suddenly, a ghostly figure materializes—shrouded in wind and song. It watches, then speaks:

“Those who seek Skyreach must pass the first gate. Offer breath, balance, or bravery.”

Three paths branch before you—each swirling with different elemental energy.

Outcome of the Choice:

  • Discovered Skyreach Trailhead
  • Encountered Trial of the First Gate
  • Codex registered location – fast travel unlocked (from Spirit shrine only)
  • Flickerling seems curious but cautious—the Air presence unsettles it slightly

Updated Stats:

  • Day: 4
  • Time: Afternoon
  • HP: 27 / 27
  • EP: 17 / 17

Temporary Buffs:

  • +1 Air Strength (Trial Only)

Notable:

  • Skyreach Trailhead discovered
  • Trial of the First Gate encountered
  • Codex updated with Skyreach Windtrace Glyph
  • Flickerling Trait Active: Emotional Empathy (mild unease sensed)

Next Choices:

  1. Take the Left Path – “Breath” – Lined with wind spirals, seems to test elemental affinity
  2. Take the Center Path – “Balance” – Narrow ledges and ropes stretch over vast drops
  3. Take the Right Path – “Bravery” – Faint cries echo from a shadowed canyon
  4. Return to Windrest Hollow – Mark trailhead for later and come back better prepared
  5. Observe the Ghostly Figure Further – Might offer more insight into the trial conditions

Let me know how you want to proceed!

What did the guy say? Don't be heavy but light of spirit or something? Makes me think we should go for the Breath path - though balance has been a central theme so far, it doesn't seem to mean that kind of balance.

But the game would know this as we haven't been to the Air Temple and we do have a +1 bonus, lol. But fine, I can sense resistance when I encounter it, lol.

Ok we go to test our balance

Story Update – Day 4, Late Afternoon:

You step onto the center path—“Balance.” Narrow stone ledges twist around the cliff face, some no wider than your boots. Ancient ropes, frayed but enchanted with fading glyphs, stretch across impossible gaps. Below, cloudbanks roll like restless tides.

Your Codex hums, lending subtle guidance to your footing. Wind howls, tugging at you with invisible hands. The path tests not just balance of body, but of mind and element—calm amidst chaos. Halfway across, a sudden gust snaps a rope. You react quickly, channeling Water and Spirit into a focused moment of clarity and flow.

You leap, trusting instinct.

The leap lands true.

At the path’s end, the ghostly figure reappears—its expression softened. It bows, vanishing in a swirl of wind.

“Balance… honored.”

The air opens before you, revealing a steep stair of clouds that weren’t visible before. You’ve passed the First Gate.

Outcome of the Choice:

  • Trial of Balance successfully completed
  • Gained Air Affinity +1 (temporary)
  • Codex inscribed with Skyreach Glyph: Step of Calm
  • Flickerling bond strengthened (Spirit attunement recognized)
  • Unlocked deeper Skyreach paths

Updated Stats:

  • Day: 4
  • Time: Late Afternoon
  • HP: 27 / 27
  • EP: 17 / 17
  • Elemental Strengths:
    • Water: 13
    • Fire: 10
    • Spirit: 10
    • Air: 3 (+1 temporary)
    • Earth: 2

Inventory:

  • Flickerling Familiar: Sprout Stage (resonating with Spirit)
  • Codex: Skyreach Step of Calm – First Trial Passed

Next Choices:

  1. Climb the Stair of Clouds – Begin true ascent toward Skyreach Monastery
  2. Rest at the Wind Ledge – A quiet spot nearby offers safety, but time will pass
  3. Return to Windrest Hollow – Recover and regroup before tackling more trials
  4. Study the broken rope glyphs – You might learn something about Air Weaves
  5. Use Soul Veil on the cliffside air – Sense echoes of past travelers or secrets in the wind

Let me know your next step!
