I agree, and for those that are new to the game: Metagaming traditionally = bad. Try to avoid it whenever possible, because in this online environment, there are hundreds (if not more) reasons why people post when they post, or do what they do.

Well, yes - that type of metagaming isn't the most helpful thing in the world.  But when people start acting out of character - if, say, I'm unusually quiet, or Sirayn contemplates an evil squad of more than 25% of the players, or Griefy starts bandwagoning . . . - well, that's when its time to sit up and pay attention

Actually Kivam, I used to be quite the bandwagoner. It's only recently that I've broken myself of the habit. You probably weren't there all those times I got lynched for always showing up in the lynch vote with little explanation. So it was kind of a private joke when I tried to whip up a bandwagon on myself last Illuminator's game.

Hmm . . . well, I've only ever seen you not bandwagoning, particularly on day 1.  So when you did it in this game, that's what put you on my radar.

Your hands are shackled to the wall above your head. A torch is lit in a bracket above your hands. There must be twenty sets of shackles, and all of the torches are lit, but only eight of the places are taken.  The floor in front of you extends out about four feet or so before it abruptly drops off fifteen feet to a sandy bottom. The cavern is horseshoe shaped with the pit in the middle, so you can see to the other side about twenty yards across. The open end of the pit must meet the sea, as waves wash up on to the sandy beach.  Torches are also set into the walls of the pit, casting their reflection against the dark water. There is no doubt that this chamber was designed to provide a clear view of whatever happens on the beach.  No one speaks as figures in dark clothing and hoods pass back and forth, securing shackles or standing guard at the entrance. Then another group comes in carrying another body. Your heart drops; if it’s Barm, then he won’t be rushing in to save you. The men drop the body unceremoniously next to the edge and snatch the hood from over his head. It’s not Barm. It is one of the merchants that was with the Admiral last night.  A man, undistinguishable from any of the others, steps next to the body.

“It is important that you see this. Do not turn your eyes away or I will use the Minister’s daughter as the next example.” He twists around, quick as a snake and grabs the merchant by his lapels, lifting him off of his feet, and heaving him into the pit.  The man lands badly, turning an ankle or maybe breaking a leg. He starts screaming in a very high pitched, agony ridden voice.

“Where is the Admiral? You don’t know who I am! Help me, please! He drags a leg behind him, furrowing the sand as he makes his way to the sheer wall. He grabs the stones, probing for some finger-hold, only to find a coating of grease on every surface. He keeps screaming, but now his voice takes on the edge of anger, as if the shock was starting to give way to rage. The merchant looks up at the men, on guard for whatever else is to be thrown into the pit with him. You watch the waves lapping up onto the beach. You remember Kivam saying it earlier. Myshir Trept. You shudder just thinking about it, eyes fastened on the dark water. And your wait is not long. They must stay just under the surface until they notice movement or catch the vibration from the screaming. At first, it is hard to tell them apart from the waves, the backs of their dark skins matching with the dark water perfectly, slowly rising above the surface. Then the waves break around them and you get the first hint of their size. Slowly they rise, and as soon as the head breaks the surface, the eyes immediately reflect the light of the torches. Milky, white, soulless eyes stare out like a blind man’s, but with an edge of cunning. The first creature reaches the water’s edge and slowly raises five feet above the water. It’s shaped like a giant stingray, only longer in the back. Propped up on it’s “wings”, you see heavily corded muscle roll beneath it’s black sharkskin like hide. Its eyes are hidden beneath the crest, so that it appears that it wears a hood. It is massive. If were spread flat on the ground, it would measure over fifteen feet from tip to tip. It moves ponderously slow, towards the merchant, who is shaking his fist up at his captors. But he must see the horror in somebody’s eyes, because he turns around and goes completely still.  His face contorts, and he looks as if a scream should be ripping the stones from the sides of the walls, but nothing comes forth.  A second animal rises from behind the first, and you can just make out the shadow of a third beneath the waves. The merchant has the sense to limp towards the far end and even you are relieved to see that the thing does not even turn it’s head very quickly, much less follow the man. Potentially, the merchant could just dodge these things until the sun comes up and they slink back towards their dens below the reefs. He obviously has the same idea, and even limping is maybe fast enough to pull it off.  The one begins to make it’s way towards him as the other moves to block his escape. This cat and mouse game goes on until all three monsters are on the beach and the man has no choice left but to try to run in between them. He pauses, choosing the widest path between them, and the chase is suddenly over. In the seconds that he was still, the creature closest to him shoots a tiny barb straight into his midsection. The dart is connected to a wire thin tentacle, which the man rips off of the beast as soon as he feels the sting. Then the man staggers and his movements become exaggerated. In the next moment he falls and begins convulsing on the sand. His skin takes on a mottles appearance and he stops moving at all, just like he has been frozen. Except for his eyes. They are set firmly on the first monster as it pushes with its tail and walks with its wings until it hovers right over him. The it slowly lowers over him until it smothers him, it’s mouth over his chest or throat, you can’t quite tell.  Over the next hour the creature slowly drains all of the fluids from the man’s body. The other two wait crouched on the sand for their turn, which eventually comes. Some hours later there is only the form of a desiccated corpse laying on the beach and the three bloated shapes moving back towards the deep.

“You see what has become of our friend the merchant. Now, the chemist will harvest fluid from the man’s brain and spine. This will be used to distill the deadliest poison a man can buy. And it still won’t hold a candle to the potency of what those beasts will be shooting into one of your bodies tomorrow night. You will spend the rest of tonight and tomorrow here, shackled and contemplating which one of you is to die next.  Sleep well.”

All of the men leave the chamber and you are left with your seven brethren, chained to the wall. Nobody speaks. The horrors of the night have built up and you finally pass out from shock, the effect of the drug, and exhaustion.

You suddenly wake. The tide has come in and what was once beach is now several feet under water.  You notice everyone else waking and the light of day coming through the open end of the cavern.

* IT IS NOW DAY 4. THE CLEAR BONESTONE HAS BEEN FOUND AND USED, REVERSING THE NIGHTKILL ACTION AIMED AT KIVAM. THE BLACK BONESTONE IS STILL HIDDEN ON THE THREADS. A TIME LIMIT OF 48 HOURS WILL BE IMPOSED BEFORE THE NEXT LYNCH. IF A VOTE HAS NOT BEEN REACHED, A RANDOM PLAYER WILL BE CHOSEN TO DIE*

With 11 players able to vote, it still requires 8 votes to lynch.

glad to see I survived the night, and to whoever used the clear stone . . . you have impeccable timing!

At this point, we need to wait for Danya to tell us her result; if Griefy is innocent, I'll be voting Vemynal.  Anyone see any reason to do different?

BTW, FDM, scratch my last request - are you done with your case on Vemy?

@ Vem

meta-gaming=theory crafting during a prolonged night?

Meta-gaming = using information outside the game to draw conclusions on other players. In the role playing world, it's also called "information bleed". In this "world" Wes has set up, your "character" is (in theory) not aware that JD wasn't around, because our "characters" wouldn't know anything about "night actions". Does that make any sense?

@ Kivam. Give me a few minutes, and I'll post Vem's.

@ Whoever had the clear bonestone: THANK YOU! It was pretty obvious (at least to me), that Kivam was going to go down, since the Finder revealed. I was hoping and hoping that it would be used.

FDM, your case on me really couldn't come at a better time then right now O.o

And honestly, I hope Danya viewed Griefy. You'll know whether to trust the Admiral that way.

Now Kivam, I know I look suspicious, hell I just spent the WWW game looking suspicious on purpose to seem like I'm not the murderer, but for once I've been good. truly and utterly!

The only thing that stirred you up against me in the first place was my vote for Hax to be the one for the roulette action! which I still don't understand why you even think that is evil!

A confirmed good player would obviously choose for the good of the group, hopefully keeping us together!

If he was evil then he had to act as a good guy and choose the action to kill only Sin to avoid being killed himself.

Kivam, explain to me why you think I'm evil plz

I at least have a right to know why I'm accused!

Well played by the person-with-the-bonestone! This morning we've either got an evil name or increased our block of known innocents by one rather than keeping it static. If Danya viewed me I wouldn't be holding out for the former. Since I rather suspect that she did, I'm going to go ahead and look for names that ring my alarm bells, apart from Vem the Wonder Squirrel.

Vemynal:

First post game related:

Hi everyone! I'm back from vacation^^ I'm voting for whoever has the highest votes so far.

sorry Rufae!

Zoinks! Metagaming = bad.

hmmm lillandra smelled like a girl and was evil in the seanchan game...

/ponders over loki

----spam spam spam---

Light! He spammed so much he forgot what was happening! ;P

wait, who are we voting?

When it comes time to pick our Scout, Vemy suggests we not choose the jungle, and he doesn’t want to go (in the end he votes for Kivam):

Well, not voting for myself. But I gotta say that a scouting party sounds a lot less scary then a jungle full of who-knows-what.

Unvotes Rufae (awww, I think Kivam has a groupie ;) ):

i trust kivam so i trust rufae

unvotes rufae

Kivam is a confirmed innocent and he think rufae is innocent

Since kivam is more experianced  then me I went with him

Vemy is now a confirmed bandwagoner (says I)(Also of note: at this point Cleo, Jackdaw, Sinister had already placed their votes on Loki).

So we gotta lynch someone fast or 4 random players are gonna die?

kk the next most after Rufae is Loki

Sorry if your innocent man, but even if you are 1 > 4

Here he reveals that he was one asked if he wanted to take bonestone.

/sigh

Its a rule that we can't edit out what we said right?

And I also can't discuss this thing Roberts said. Believe me when I say this you guys, I have no choice

You know. I don't think roberts will appreciate any of this since I'm not sure I shoulda mentioned this in the first place.

I just didn't want to die and wasn't thinking straight >.>

And since we arn't supposed to edit our posts.... =/

So can we just drop it XD

to settle things this much, nothing will be gained by discussing this with me

So why don't we just ignore all this?

plz?

Again with the Kivam adoration ;P

I Unvote Loki and lynch Hax

Guys, Kivam is a confirmed innocent & he's one of the better players playing, why not just agree with him here. If he's wrong then he's wrong and we know it was a mistake at least, not intentional planning.

Vemy closes in the lynch for DSage (aka Toy)

Dsage it is then

Votes for Cleo. No reason given.(third vote after Kivam and Loki)

Cleo

Okay, I didn’t put in the last quote, but this is the second time Vemy has asked for clarification on the black bonestone.

I'm curious about something, what happens if the black bonestone is given to the witch? they mentioned something different would happen but I don't understand what. Do we know? Should whoever has it give it to her? or is it best not to use it no matter what so the murderer's don't get it

Here it is, darling.  :-*

wheres mine?

/begs

Soon after, he makes a comment about SD:

I also want to see what comes up with Sin, as I'm slightly (only just) suspicious of him atm.

More Sin suspicion:

I'm just saying that I have my eye on Sin and that the whole talya thing was a little suspicious. I'm not claiming he's evil or anything of that sort atm. Just that i'm suspicious.

Darling, please read through the rules page again. ;)

Someone mind explaining me what a singer does? She's a roled innocent so we blooded up big time.

No, it’s not Sira. His feelings on the admiral, and you need to read the rules page again hun :P

Siryan? that you? Similar grammar pattern.

My money is the admiral is going to assist the evils in killing the minister to take over the place and have total power. Least thats what I'd guess from every piece of politics I've ever seen before. And how he keeps being played as a jack hole and we keep getting "bad vibes" around him. Not to mention he he wants us all in prison.

sooo...unrelated question XD

Can the admiral be killed by bonestone?

When was the admiral confirmed bad? I thought he was just a confirmed meanie.

soo now that the admiral is a confirmed baddy who wants the assassins to win and kill the minister shall we say, use the piece of bonestone that can kill him to kill him? hmm?

Votes for Sin (after Danya reveals):

And hey! I was right! talya went after Sin and Sin is evil! Unless this is her being evil and trying to get us to pile on him. But there are so many players left after 3 murderers dead that likely there would only be 1 more left!

Sinister Death it is!

Votes for Hax as our Representative (2nd after Barm).

i support having a known innocent do it

hax i have faith in u

Here Vemy pushes for the option to make multiple choices. He is convinced that just because it’s a roulette, doesn’t mean it’s going to end badly. Except the part where there is ‘russian’ in front of roulette. (Russian roulette = very dangerous gambling game involving a loaded gun…)

Another leads to multiple choices being made. Nothing said here means that these will be harmful events, they could be helpful. The rullete seems to me to be a game of chance, not misfortune from what this sounds like.

Here is pushes for a confirmed innocent to represent us, and that it MUST be Hax. Please note however that he continues to say that Danya COULD be lying about being Finder—which would in result in Hax no longer being a confirmed innocent.

Heck, if daruya is evil then technically it will be 4 murderers left (if 6 total) which means if we sink to 8 people we lose. since there are 11 including sin, if he's innocent and they night kill we are at 9 people. Then we kill daruya and they night kill its 3 murderers and 7 players and we are stuck with 1 chance to lynch a murderer or we lose.

ALL of this can be avoided if we don't get those random kills.

Which is why we need a confirmed innocent and it worth the risk.

Its why we need hax

Again pushes Hax as the Rep. Please also note that this is really the first time Vemy has had any conviction regarding voting in this game. Nearly every other time it has been a bandwagoning action.

Hax's possible motivations:

1)`If he's a murderer and Daruya's a murderer then he will die once we know she's evil and someone inspects him tonight. Meaning he will choose the messy way of random kills. Or so seems obvious. As I said above (random kill lets say we get only 2 and both are innocent deaths) with 9 people and 4 murderer's left we need to make a murderer lynch every kill for the rest of the game. But once its down too 5 total and 2 murderers left (2 days later, we lynch Hax and Daruya. 2 night kills take place) that means we will know who the remaining 2 murderers are because we will have run out of unknowns! the messay path would lead to our win! So he will now avoid this route.

2) If he's innocent and daruya is lying he will still pick the less messy option.

3) If he's innocent and daruya is telling the truth he will pick the less messy option.

Nonetheless all of my above logic is screwed up if we present a 3rd player variable into this equation Cloud, and that could lose us the game since we then wouldn't have a stance on you if you got things messy and lynching you later might hurt not harm.

I say we stick with Hax

He’ll take Cloud though. ‘Cause Kivam said so.’ :P

Ok so her name is "Danya" got it.

Fine, since FDM and Kivam both suggest sending cloud then I'll support it myself.

Though I still have my doubts about cloud

First defense against Kivam’s suspicion:

My reason to supporting an innocent making the choice is:

1) we know they will make an honest best interest decision

2) Barm originally had the idea and i've been supporting you and barm from the start since we know you too are good players and confirmed innocents.

3) I claim my innocence and beg that you have someone view me before you lynch me.

Kivam, Barm, i AM innocent and have and will follow your decisions! Just as I have! plz view me before making the mistake of killing me!

I’m laughing because it really is funny.  :D

I'm shot for ideas, I say we do what Kivam says

Defense #2 against Kivam’s suspicion:

In Conclusion: He seriously is squirrely  ;). He bandwagons for most of the game, idolizes Kivam in between, and then randomly pushes harder than anyone else for Hax to go, even after Barm unvotes him. There are some major inconsistencies in his posting, but I’m not sure if that is just inexperience, or the squirrel coming out to dig up my daffodil bulbs when the frost is over.  >:(

I'm immensely curious to hear Danya's Finding.

I will finish up Loki tomorrow. He makes an interesting post on Page 31 where he discusses his suspicions on players, with little to no reasoning. It bears further inspection, methinks. But I agree in the opaqueness, as well.

Alright, going to be. G'night, all.

Checking in before I'm off to bed.  I'm surprised that Greify is innocent.  Great job with the bonestone, you know who you are, though I don't.

As for Vem, I don't know about him being evil, but I don't like that he mentioned lynching me.  Don't like that at all!  >:(

Vem the Wonder Squirrel.

What is it with you people and squirrels O.o (I don't get the connection between squirrel & guilty)

oh! and half way through FDM's post i realized that she made her comment before my post. SO read it that way and makes more sense XD

@FDM- (I didn't respond to her mention of my first post since its just kidna there. next down is the response I give below)

1) didn't know meta-gaming was bad back then >.> and imo thats not so much meta-gaming as drawing from experience (which i admittedly lack...)

2) Yes, I tend to spam quite a lot^^ (sorry for making this so hard on you).

3) Spooky jungle or sneak past some soldiers, I made my suggestion & it was wrong /shruggs.

4) What I've been saying, i respect barm and Kivam and since we know both are good me thinking I do what they say, which is why I'm trying to change kivam's mind cause I expect others share my view on that >.>

5) yep, I'm a band wagoner. Biggest hint that I'm evil is if I tell players to stop and think before they act (I did that continuously in the wild wild west game). And I was really mean to loki back then /pats poor loki

6) I was offered the chance to take a bonestone. Roberts hinted that it would be dangerous to do so. I didn't take one because of that.

7) /kivam groupie

8) poor Dsage, I've killed him twice now >.>    In my defense, we *DID* need to lynch someone before a random kill occurred.

9) I killed cleo because I had reread a couple of her posts and found them to be weird, + I agree using the black bonestone would be horrible for a good guy to do. I've also been joining in on kivam's votes this whole time and he voted cleo, I still trust kivam's opinion.

10) they didn't answer me the first time and they didn't answer the second >.> What happens if the witch is given the black bonestone?

11) <3 you FMD^^

12 & 13) Talya thought him suspicious and was right about Dbob. We also knew she was innocent. Was I wrong :P

14) I didn't and still don't get what the first page description of the singer means >.>

15) Guessing who the admiral is is against the rules? /runs off to check

16) In my book the admiral is rotten to his teeth. Heck the whole poitn of this is the assassins want the minister dead and guess what? the admiral does too :P. I evne tried to get him lynched and roberts commented that would be a good move, to bad you can't.

17) I was right in trusting Talya and proud of it^^

18) Barm is a known innocent and i trust him. He suggested a known innocent do the event and I *STILL* think it a good idea.

19) I thought it was a figure of speech >.> and I didn't "push" I suggested that not all may be bad.

20) wasn't pushing so much for Hax as a confirmed innocent.  But then Barm and Kivam are our only other confirmed innocences yes?  state my reasons in mass above and there. Good read them.

21) yeah, and look where not band wagoning has gotten me >.> And I had conviction because I didn't trust cloud at the time, my bad.

22) damn straight^^ ever heard the term "go with the flow"? ^^

23 & 24) And there is another "There is a time for peace and a time for war". I don't wanna die >.>

in sum: What the hell is it with you people and squirrels! O.o /looks at his bunnies

oooooh...

I'm not inconsistent! I consistently Bandwagon someone who someone I trust has voted for^^ (i.e. Kivam & barm) I didn't understand barm's reason for unvoting and kivam's reason for voting cloud so i stuck with my guns! Now I'm about to die because of it...what a lesson to learn hmmm?

and yes, i r inexperienced >.>, seriously considering withdrawing from the newbie game and letting a competent "experienced" player take over my spot >.>

And it appears Danya viewed griefy and he's innocent, least you now know my suspicions of the Admiral were founded =/

As I have no idea out of Red, Jackdaw or FDM to suspect I assume I will die shortly...

much <3 yall  :-*

Safir isnt in this game, just like Daruya isn't, and in case the pink female symbol didn't clue you in, I'm a girl. Posting walls of text that basically say the same thing over and over and basically amount to nothing much, does you no favours. Because we've seen it before and it aint a good sign.

I know you're inexperienced and if you're innocent I'm sorry. Don't be discouraged. Even if your team wins you're lucky to survive to the end of a game. I've only done this about three times and it took me quite a few games to hit my stride and manage it for the first time. Also, kudos for posting the song. However. I still think you're evil. So let me be the first to say it:

Folks, we are at the point that we can start burning through unknowns without worrying about killing an innocent.  There cannot be more than 2 assassins left, or an assassin and a symp (a 6 man evil team would be seriously overpowered in a 19 player game, or even a 21 player game (counting the minister and admiral).

The ambiguous viewing leaves me 3 possibilities: Griefy is innocent;griefy is a symp; griefy is an evil somehow protected from finder results (unlikely)

So, even setting aside the result on Griefy - quick question, Danya: how was the result on Hax worded? - here's what will happen:

Today - 4 confirmed innocents (me, Danya, Hax, Barm) + the minister, 4 unknowns (FDM, Loki, Jack, Vem), 1 possible innocent/symp/godfather (Griefy).

We lynch Vem (unless he reveals as healer - and NOBODY put the final vote on him before he gets a chance to do that).  Going into tonight, the tally is:

4 innocents v. 3 unknowns + griefy.

The healer heals Danya, someone known dies - tomorrow =

3 innocents v. 2 unknowns + griefy + the player Danya viewed.

If the player is innocent, that's 4 innocents v. 2 unknowns + griefy, we lynch an unknown, and its 4 innocents v. 1 unknown + griefy.  If its an assasin, its 3 innocents v. 2 unknowns + griefy, and we have only one assassin to go.

If we run out of unknowns to lynch, then we look at griefy.  But at this point, we just need to vote unknowns off the island.  Innocent or guilty, Vem's death helps us.

Current Day 4 Game Vote Count:

[glow=red,2,300]Vemy ( 2 )[/glow] - Griefy, Kivam

With 11 players, it takes 8 vots to lynch.

I think we should now include the Admiral in the bad column, after his miscall on Griefy.

Admiral: What do you have to say for yourself, now that Griefy has been found innocent by the finding?

The healer heals Danya, and I think you will die. If they tried to kill you last time, and it failed, think tonight will be any different? They are afraid of you! :P

[glow=red,2,300]Vemynal[/glow] You may in fact be innocent, and if that is the case I'm sorry. Jackdaw hasn't done enough for us to form any conclusive decisions, and I'm working on my Loki case. I guess I'll need to do Griefy too now anyway.

I will do my utmost to get a case on Loki out by this afternoon. My daughter takes her nap at 1pm EST, so I will work on it after that.

while Greify was "comes up as.." Hax was "Hax is..."

I hope I didnt break the rule now  :-\

and Kivams and Griefys (tho i'm not 100% sure about him being Evil) reasoning seems fine.. i'll vote for [glow=red,2,300]Vemynal[/glow]

Most likely, but since I'm roleless, and I'll be able to keep analyzing on the public thread, it won't do them much good  ;)
