Did Lanfar save Matt?

When trollocs attack Tear Matt’s POV after the event shows trollocs attacking and killing a Fade that was about to attack him before moving on away from him.

I know Lanfer hints to Rand she is behind trollocs saving him although refuses to admit it in fear he will expect it in future, but, why save Matt? Or does something else cause the trollocs to save him?

I thought she was assisting Rand but with plausible deniability.  As Rand's friend Mat might have been included in that protection.

Remember Lanfear visits Mat in The White Tower immediately after his healing in TGH and is about to use compulsion on him when she is interrupted.  Given she later does this to Perrin, it's fair to think she seems them as useful pieces to keep in play despite Ishamael or other Forsaken wanting them dead - so maybe pure self-interest.

Lanfear had no hand with any of the Trollocs in Tear.  According to the Companion "On orders from the Dark One, Semirhage sent the Trollocs and Myrddraal to aid Rand in Tear against Sammael's shadowspawn."  But no mention as to why the DO did that.  Lanfear simply wanted to keep Rand guessing.   As the Companion states "she wanted to aid Rand as long as it didn't bring danger to herself" and "she wanted to help Rand against the other Forsaken in sofar as she could do it without exposing herself." So if she said yes and Sammael found out then she would risk Sammael seeking payback.  So why take a risk like that for something somone else did?

That makes sense. She's not like the Spider, who's an out-and-out coward, but she doesn't take unnecessary risks. That is evident in the way she treats Rand; tying off Asmodean's shield so that he can't take revenge on her, and at the same time, not letting him teach Rand any faster than she can handle his increasing control over his strength.
