New to DM, just saying hi

Howdy, I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I've had to stay away from DM for years because I hadn't finished the books and didn't want spoilers. I've been reading since high school, probably 1997 or so. I made various attempts over the years to complete the series, always getting stuck and starting over. I finally finished a few weeks ago and have been enjoying full fandom participation, reading fan theories I haven't been able to read before, and generally loving having completed WOT.

 

I made a screen name here because it's so hard not to weigh in on certain things and now I'll get to!

Welcome! I'm (kinda, sorta) new here myself. I actually first posted here years ago, but only posted less than a handful of times (most of my WoT posting activity was on another site). I've recently started becoming somewhat active here. I'm liking it, but I am still trying to figure out the way the site is set up.

 

Glad you finally finished the books! There's a lot to get through, no? Myself, I started reading them in 1991, and I'll tell ya, that was a long long long time until the series finished! But it was totally worth it in the end I think, even if I wasn't entirely sure I liked what Sanderson did (I've only read those last three books once each, have to go back and reread the last 5 or 6 books over again, as they're the ones I've read the least, and decide finally how I feel about them). I do know that since aMoL came out I've become somewhat of a Sanderson fanboy, so I might actually like the last three more now than I did before.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy your time here, and perhaps you might want to check out the clubs; they have one for Aes Sedai ("The White Tower & Warders"), and some role-playing forums as well if that's your thing.

Welcome, both of you! It´s great to see "new" fans here. Check the forums for discussing the books (and the TV series). The Clubs is a great way to get to meet new people. You can join one or more. And, as imlad said, there are a special role playing club if you like to role play. We are happy to answer any questions that you might have.

I'm trying to find the slippery Aes Sedai message within the message here. You say I can click on the leave button but you don't say that I'll actually be able to leave. Maybe I'll just...hang around in Baerlon for a while and, um, figure out the world on a my own a bit. Do some sightseeing in the Mountains of Mist, that sort of thing.

Ya know, I had a seriously intense trip one night at a party to that song (back in my early 20s, such a long long time ago). Not a bad trip, just intense. I had never really paid attention to the lyrics before that night, but when you're the only person on something other than booze and pot at a party and that song starts playing... yeah, you really notice the lyrics! ?

 

PS: I was on forkroot, that's all! I swears it!

LoL ... you probably ran afoul of my 1 Warder, then - he claims to have a stash of Forkroot that he uses on me from time to time. It amuses me to let him think it's true.
