Ajah Politics - Research

Hello all,

I've done a bit of research into Ajah Politics for placement on the Red Board, but I wanted to share this here. I also was hoping to hash out with @Kathleen on relations between the Yellows and Reds (the last RP of which was conducted was the Shadows Eye RP, and I actually do not know anything right now beyond the name).

But here is what I placed on the Red Board:

(UPDATED: April 26th, 2018)

Ajah Politics

Current Allies: Gray, Green
Neutral/Undecided: Brown

Opposition: Yellow, White, Blue

The list is arranged from our strongest allies to our strongest opponents. Keep in mind that the list is mostly a guideline, and an Ajah may sway any way depending on the matter at hand.

  • Gray: The Gray has supported the Red to oppose a change in the gentling law (which stated male channelers should be studied before being gentled; this was obviously passed before the Cleansing). They also sided with the Red after another law change requiring Sisters leaving from the WT to dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. Grays and Greens often support each other in the Hall. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Green: Maegan, the former Highest, formed an alliance with the Green Ajah in late 999 NE, and have continued good relations since the Greens sided with the Reds against allowing researching of the channelers to happen instead of just gentling them. Greens and Grays often support each other in the Hall. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Brown: The Brown Ajah has been at odds with the Greens ever since the disaster at Namandar (an AoL city which an expedition from the WT was sent to investigate), but we've not seen any negative effects towards the Reds. However, it is likely that we will support the Greens over the Browns in most Hall proposals, as there is a Blue-Brown-Yellow faction in the Hall. The Browns supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat. Thus they are considered mostly neutral, bordering on opposition.
  • Yellow: The Yellows have an alliance with the Brown and Blue in the Hall, against the Green-Red-Gray faction. One of the three Sitters stood the first time to support Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat, and then all stood when asked a second time; they were the third-to-last to stand.
  • White: They were the second-to-last to stand for a Red to be Amyrlin Seat. In The Shadow Rising, it is said: "There was no love lost between Red and White; they had stood on opposite sides in the Hall of the Tower for a thousand years. White stood with Blue... But Whites prided themselves on dispassionate logic."
  • Blue: Little explanation needed. Blues were displeased at standing for a Red to be Amyrlin Seat; they were the last to stand for Shevara.

If anything can be added to this, for any Ajah, please let me know!

Yes, indeed! I made this based off of the WT timeline and coming across snippets in old RP threads. As guessed though, I didn't come across any explaining the Whites' or Yellows' relationship with the Red, and I'm assuming the Blues are against us as a matter of course. :p

@Kathleen I would welcome some input on relations, if possible, with the other Ajahs. :)

And, if anyone has anything else to add ( @Chaelca? @Taymist?) please do so. I will be going through, slowly, and doing the others.

Ajah Politics - Green Ajah   :ajahgreen_by_drowelfmorwen-dc43ft0:

Current Allies: Red, Gray
Neutral/Undecided: Blue, White

Opposition: Yellow, Brown

The list is arranged from the Green's strongest allies to their strongest opponents. Keep in mind that the list is mostly a guideline, and an Ajah may sway any way depending on the matter at hand.

  • Red: The Reds formed a general alliance and understanding that was cemented between Jaydena Sedai and Maegan Sedai. The Greens sided with the Reds on allowing researching of male channelers to happen instead of just gentling them. The Greens supported raising Shevara (Red) to the Amyrlin Seat.

  • Gray: Grays and Greens often support each other in the Hall.  The Gray supported the Red to oppose a change in the gentling law and again sided with the Red and Green after another law change requiring Sisters leaving from the WT to dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.

  • Blue: Ajah relations with the Blue have seen few breaks in their accord for several centuries. However, the Blues opposed the Greens when Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. The Blues were the last to stand for the raising of Shevara to Amyrlin Seat, which the Greens supported. This isn't to say the Blue won't support the Green in other situations; however, they often oppose Reds by matter of course. Thus for the most part they are considered neutral bordering on ally.

  • White Historically, Whites have often sided with Blues against Reds, and this may affect how they react to Greens in the Hall, since we are allied with the Red but still consider Blues a somewhat-ally despite the current factions.

  • Yellow: Yellows made a faction with Blues and Browns against the Greens after Lanfir chose another Green as Keeper (against her promise to do otherwise) when she was raised Amyrlin. Though the Amyrlin has changed, it is doubtless the Yellows' position did.

  • Brown: The Brown has been at odds with the Greens ever since the disaster at Namandar (an AoL city which an expedition from the WT was sent to investigate) in 996 NE; sisters of both Ajahs were ambushed and attacked by a Forsaken, Dreadlord and Shadowspawn. The Browns further went against the Greens after Lanfir replaced the deposed Karana on the Amyrlin Seat, and were also angered that Lanfir did not chose a Blue Keeper as she said she would.

It looks perfect to me - except for one detail. The Yellows are put in opposition but below you say that the reason for that opposition is unknown. Shouldn't it be better to place the Yellows in undecided then (for now) ?

Thanks so much for this work !

Thank you for catching that. :)

Eventually, I want to add this to the WT page. I'll do it once all seven Ajahs are done.

Edit: Yellow is still in opposition to Greens. Details added.

Ajah Politics - White Ajah

Current Allies: Blue, Brown
Neutral/Undecided: Yellow, Gray

Opposition: Gray, Green, Red

The list is arranged from the White's strongest allies to their strongest opponents. Keep in mind that the list is mostly a guideline, and an Ajah may sway any way depending on the matter at hand.

  • Blue: Historically, Whites have often sided with Blues against Reds. The Brown, Blue and Yellow Ajah formed an alliance against the Greens after Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. From tSR, "White stood with Blue... But Whites prided themselves on dispassionate logic."
  • Brown: The Brown Ajah has been at odds with the Greens ever since the disaster at Namandar (an AoL city which an expedition from the WT was sent to investigate), and are therefore considered allies.
  • Yellow: Yellows made a faction with Blues and Browns against the Greens after Lanfir chose another Green as Keeper (against her promise to do otherwise) when she was raised Amyrlin. Though the Amyrlin has changed, it is doubtless the Yellows' position did. One of the three Sitters stood the first time to support Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat, and then all stood when asked a second time; they were the third-to-last to stand. They are considered neutral.
  • Gray: The Gray has supported the Red to oppose a change in the gentling law. They also sided with the Red after another law change requiring Sisters leaving from the WT to dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. Grays and Greens often support each other in the Hall. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat. Therefore they are bordering between neutral and opposition.
  • Green: The Greens have a strong alliance with the Red, and therefore are considered in opposition.
  • Red: The White Sitters were the second-to-last to stand for a Red to be Amyrlin Seat (In this case, Shevara, the current Amyrlin). In The Shadow Rising, it is said: "There was no love lost between Red and White; they had stood on opposite sides in the Hall of the Tower for a thousand years. White stood with Blue... But Whites prided themselves on dispassionate logic."

Ajah Politics (WIP)

Current Allies: Red, Green
Neutral/Undecided: Yellow

Neutral-Opposition: Blue, Brown, White

  • Green: Grays and Greens often support each other in the Hall. The alliance between the Reds and Greens have made them a stronger ally. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Yellow: Considered neutral bordering on opposition. Yellows made a faction with Blues and Browns against the Greens after Lanfir chose another Green as Keeper (against her promise to do otherwise) when she was raised Amyrlin. But Whites prided themselves on dispassionate logic."  Considering we are allied with the Reds, the White is considered to border between neutral and opposition.

Yellow Ajah Completed :ajahyellow_by_drowelfmorwen-dc43fsk:

Ajah Politics

Current Allies: Brown, Blue

Neutral/Undecided: White

Opposition: Gray, Green, Red

The list is arranged, in general, from our strongest allies to our strongest opponents. Keep in mind that the list is mostly a guideline, and an Ajah may sway any way depending on the matter at hand.

  • Brown: Considered an ally; they are part of the Brown-Blue-Yellow alliance. The Brown Ajah has been at odds with the Greens ever since the disaster at Namandar (an AoL city which an expedition from the WT was sent to investigate). Lwena, then the First Weaver, was part of the mission and returned safely. Browns also were against the Green after Karana was deposed and stilled (for knowing about the DR and not telling the Hall), Lanfir replacing her on the Amyrlin Seat. Historically speaking, Brown often supported the Blue against the Yellow in Hall affairs.
  • Blue: The Brown, Blue and Yellow Ajah formed an alliance against the Greens after Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. This angered all three Ajahs. Before that, for the past hundred years, the Yellow Ajah had had a tense relationship with the Blue Ajah. This is due to an incident that occurred in Altara, with sisters of each Ajah accusing the other of interfering.
  • White: Considered neutral. In The Shadow Rising, it is said: "There was no love lost between Red and White; they had stood on opposite sides in the Hall of the Tower for a thousand years. White stood with Blue... But Whites prided themselves on dispassionate logic." Since we have Blue as a strong ally, the Whites can be an ally as well, but are considered neutral.
  • Gray: Grays are strongly allied with the Red and Green, putting them mostly in opposition to the Yellow.
  • Green: Yellows were angered by Greens when Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. The Green and Brown have been at odds ever since the disaster at Namandar; this effects their relationships with the Yellow, who made an alliance with the Blues and Browns; the other alliance in the Hall consists of the Grays, Greens and Reds. The Green supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Red: The Gray supported the Red to oppose a change in the gentling law (which now states that channeling men must be studied before being gentled; this was before the Cleansing). The Grays also sided with the Red after another law change requiring Sisters leaving from the WT to dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. The Grays supported the Reds in raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat. One of the three Yellow Sitters stood the first time to support Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat, and all stood when asked a second time; they were the third-to-last to stand.

The Green, while historically allies, have become less so since they formed a faction with the Gray and Red Ajahs. The Blue opposed the Green when Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. The Greens supported raising of Shevara to Amyrlin Seat, which Blues were the last to stand for.
