Telcia Dyfell - 18-04-2007 - retired to Kin; former Sitter, had Foretelling Talent - Miya/Telcia

She married a Tower guard, Iussi Dyfelle, who ended up being a channeler; he was eventually gentled but not before being the first to undergo the Tower's new "study program" for male channelers after the Gentling Law was changed. She had at least one child by her husband. Unknown to other Reds, she was forced into secret exile by Sirayn, then Amyrlin, though Reds by and large think she abandoned her duties and betrayed them and the WT. While she returned for a time after Sirayn was replaced, she disappeared again later, and retired in quiet.

Anita Briar – an NSW/NPC who died in a 999 NE RP

Character Development Threads

These threads should be done for every Red character. Posted on this board, they will serve two purposes: First, each should include an "Aes Sedai Bio" at the top that tells us about your character and what other Sisters in the Ajah would know or perceive about her (for example, your personality, your general views, past actions, etc.). Since biographies of characters often do not include their time in the Tower (and cannot be edited after approval), this fixes that problem.

Second, the threads will help keep track of old RPs any one particular character was involved with; ideally, all the RPs you've done (that are still available, anyway) should be linked on this thread. Why? Because it's fun to read other people's stories and learn about their character! More practically speaking, though, they help you to keep track of what you have done over a long period of time, and fellow Ajah members may desire to know what their Sisters have been up to these years. We also can learn better about your character this way.

Each Red should have her own thread, though there need only be one post per thread. The post can be edited to add in new RPs as they are completed.

These are separate from Monthly RP Reporting (see below), which is its own thread.

The desired format is below:

Quote

Character as an Aes Sedai:

[Blurb here; what other sisters would know about your sister].

Role-play History

Arranged from oldest on bottom to newest at the top (in terms of IC timeline).

  • RP Title/Link Here

2017

Role-play Reporting

Preferably, RP reporting should be done on a monthly basis. For any role-play threads your Sister is involved in, please report in this link here. This is separate, and more detailed, from your personal character development thread. This is where the Ajah Head will come to gather information to pass on to the WT Staff, keeping track of Active sisters.

Current Red Ajah Projects/RPs

This section will list any current Ajah-wide, open or important RPs.

  • The Reds have a new Mission! We are currently working towards Bonding with members of the Black Tower. Sitter Jagen is currently meeting with various Reds under the Highest's orders to go on a group "outing" to the Black Tower.

Major/ Important Ajah RPs (Completed) - The List goes from Most Recent (at the top) to the Oldest (at the bottom).

While the Bosses Speak: Red Sitters and Asha'man meet to fulfill the agreement of bonding each other.

Who Bonded:  Arath -> Zarinen; Jakar/Aslan -> Jagen; The Keeper (Raslyn) -> Martyn; Larindhra -> Geirrin

Link: While the bosses speak...

New Alliances: Shevara Edosian, the Amyrlin Seat, meets with the Highest and the Red Sitters. They have a quiet meeting with Arath Faringal and Covai Seriba of the Black Tower. Following the Black Tower's defeat in Shienar, the Dragon Reborn orders them to play nice with the White Tower.  After the madness and death of the M’Hael, Brent Enios, the new ruling body of the Black Tower, named the Guardian Council, sends a delegation to Tar Valon to meet with the Amyrlin.  A new agreement is struck between the Asha’man and the Red Ajah, both sides agreeing to bond each other as Warders.

Link: New Alliances

Are you going to deny the savior: Zarinen, the Highest, calls the Keeper (Raslyn) and Sitters (Larindhra; Jagen, newly appointed) to a meeting. Zarinen discusses bonding Asha'man since they are now forbidden from gentling them. She gets the Sitters to agree. Continued in New Alliances thread.

Link: Are you going to deny the savior

I just killed my Boss. Can I see Yours?: Asha'man form a gateway into the Red Gardens, where several Reds are gathered; Brent (Storm Leader) demands to see the Amyrlin Seat.

Link: I just killed my Boss

In a World Beyond Controlling: The newly raised Amyrlin, Shevara Edosian, meets with the Highest, Zarinen. Knowing the Dragon has been Reborn and the Last Battle draws near, they discuss an alliance with the Black Tower. Shevara also asks Raslyn, a fellow Red, to be her Keeper.

Link: In a World Beyond Controlling

A Hall's Deliberation: Shevara Edosian, Sitter of the Red Ajah, is Summoned before the Hall of the Tower to be raised to the Amyrlin Seat. She is the first Amyrlin raised from the Red since Bonwhin.

Link: A Hall's Deliberation

Watcher’s RP: The White Tower sent an expedition (many/all Ajahs)  in search of the Farm, and a battle ensued resulting in the death or capture of all involved Aes Sedai.  This event caused much chaos and confusion among both Towers, and led to a coup within the Black Tower leadership.  These Aes Sedai, bonded against their will, were eventually released back to the White Tower (after a month or so), but only after the new M’Hael, Brent Enios, secured a peace agreement, which required the White Tower to publicly acknowledge the presence, and equality, of the Asha’man and their Black Tower. Muirenn was burned out from drawing too much of the One Power.

My Brother's Keeper: Please see the next post in this thread for an explanation on My Brother’s Keeper (and The Watchers RP) threads.

False Dragon: Jaron Alainin* poses as the Dragon Reborn and is captured by Red Sisters in Arad Doman. He is displayed in every major city along the way to Tar Valon, to expose him for a fraud to as many people as possible. The delegation makes for Caemlyn where he’s to be presented to the Queen in the last stop before Tar Valon. Afterwards he’s taken to Tar Valon where he is gentled and kept to prevent the characteristic suicide attempts.

Link: [Unavailable]

Note: The name [Jaron Alainin] may or may not be accurate, because our Dragon Reborn is Jarron al'Tanin.

Fleeing the Reds: When a group of Sisters come to Caemlyn to present the False Dragon to the queen, Mariana decides it is time to move. Not taking the chance that the Reds in that group might take too much interest in Jarron, she sets out with the lot of them to the north. But instead of going to Tar Valon, they moved past it and straight to Arafel.

RolePlay Ideas

Anyone can suggest RP ideas; please start new threads for each individual idea for planning.

Things that need doing/ Recently Completed:

  • A definitive Ajah Timeline. - (Complete) Link Here.
  • Red Ajah Politics - (Complete; Below)
  • Role-play Thread Copies - If possible:
    • Find a copy of the old "Crimson RP" (Nigh impossible, as links will no longer exist, but copies might!)
    • Watchers RP has been found and linked above!

Ajah Politics

Current Allies: Gray, Green
Neutral/Undecided: Brown

Opposition: Yellow, White, Blue

The list is arranged from our strongest allies to our strongest opponents. Keep in mind that the list is mostly a guideline, and an Ajah may sway any way depending on the matter at hand.

  • Gray: The Gray has supported the Red to oppose a change in the gentling law (which stated male channelers should be studied before being gentled; this was obviously passed before the Cleansing). They also sided with the Red after another law change requiring Sisters leaving from the WT to dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. Grays and Greens often support each other in the Hall. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Green: Maegan, the former Highest, formed an alliance with the Green Ajah in late 999 NE, and have continued good relations since the Greens sided with the Reds against allowing researching of the channelers to happen instead of just gentling them. Greens and Grays often support each other in the Hall. They supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Brown: The Brown Ajah has been at odds with the Greens ever since the disaster at Namandar (an AoL city which an expedition from the WT was sent to investigate), but we've not seen any negative effects towards the Reds. However, it is likely that we will support the Greens over the Browns in most Hall proposals, as there is a Blue-Brown-Yellow faction in the Hall. The Browns supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat. Thus they are considered mostly neutral, bordering on opposition.
  • Yellow: The Yellows have an alliance with the Brown and Blue in the Hall, against the Green-Red-Gray faction. One of the three Sitters stood the first time to support Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat, and then all stood when asked a second time; they were the third-to-last to stand.
  • White: They were the second-to-last to stand for a Red to be Amyrlin Seat. In The Shadow Rising, it is said: "There was no love lost between Red and White; they had stood on opposite sides in the Hall of the Tower for a thousand years. White stood with Blue... But Whites prided themselves on dispassionate logic."
  • Blue: Little explanation needed. Blues were displeased at standing for a Red to be Amyrlin Seat; they were the last to stand for Shevara.

DM Red Ajah Customs

  • Upon welcoming a new Red, the most senior in rank present will ceremoniously remove the new sister’s Great Serpent ring from her left hand, kiss it, and place it on a finger on her right hand. Then her first shawl will be placed upon her shoulders by the youngest in rank present, while saying, "Welcome to your new home, Sister." Then all the Reds will intone ceremoniously, "The Red Ajah welcomes you, Sister."
  • A new sister will be immediately introduced to the Highest, and any Sitters present in the Tower.
  • A new sister also receives two red dresses as welcome gifts; they will be placed in her room.
  • The Highest is given the same amount of respect and deference as the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Inside the Tower, clothing must be red or red accented. Outside of the Tower, it is sometimes necessary to hide yourself, so this only applies inside Tar Valon.
  • If you wear other Ajah colors, they should be subdued or dark, not bright.
  • While it is canon in the books that befriending outside of the Ajah is strongly discouraged (or outright forbidden), this is NOT required nor encouraged here, for RP purposes. The Red Ajah in this PSW realize the importance of maintaining close ties to the other Ajahs; thus, by all means have all the friends you like.
  • When a sister has reached her one year mark since attaining the shawl, she shall accompany an older Red out into the world for a minimum of two months, but no longer than five. This is so she gets a new, but guided, taste of the world as a Red.
  • By Ajah law, the Highest may not influence Sitters' voting in the Hall.

Ajah Facts and Customs from the Books

  • The main thrust of the Red Ajah is hunting down men who could channel. (WoT Companion)
  • The head of the Red Ajah was called the Highest, or simply Highest, and considered the equal of the Amyrlin Seat by most Reds, unless a Red was the Amyrlin Seat, and sometimes even then. The Highest had autocratic powers of command, more so than in any other Ajah. (WoT Companion)
  • The Red Ajah is the largest. (When asked why this is so, Robert Jordan answered "... the fact is to the world at large—one of the primary functions of Aes Sedai is to protect the world from men who can channel. That means that a fair number of young women who go to the White Tower, go thinking that this will be one of their major functions as Aes Sedai. So the Red Ajah and the Green Ajah are the two largest.")
  • "[Red sisters] train to fight other channelers." (aMoL, 3) "[Pevara] lashed out with Spirit, slicing down the weaves by guessing where they would be..." (aMoL, 3)
  • There is a council below the Highest, but it is advisory only, although members of the council did have authority over Red sisters not on the council. (WoT Companion)
  • Selection of the Highest is by secret ballot, with only members of the council considered for the post.
  • Sitters also are chosen by secret ballot, with the entire membership open; all ballots are write-in--no one stands for the position--but if it no one receives two-thirds of the votes, the lowest vote-getter is dropped, and a new ballot taken. This continues until someone had two-thirds of the votes. If the candidates are reduced to two and neither has two-thirds after three ballots, the choice is thrown to the council. (WoT Companion)
  • There is a secret ceremony of the Red Ajah, the most secret, called the Grand Emergence. The Grand Emergence is the most secret ceremony of the Red Ajah. They walked through the ceremony in a warded place, speaking the parts in a guarded way, even so. It was, in fact, nothing less than a plan for seizing the White Tower should that become necessary. Not all Red sisters are aware of the ceremony since it is so shrouded in double-speak and masked words. It supposedly has been practiced ever since the White Tower was founded. Every Red sister who knows what it is feels certain that the other Ajahs have something similar. In fact, at least some do. (WoT Companion)
  •  "In the Red, when the Highest spoke, everyone obeyed, including Sitters. The sole exception, by Ajah law, was voting in the Hall, though some women who held the title had managed to insure that any vote near to their hearts went as they wished." (KoD, Prologue)

Eyes-and-Ears Signals

While only a few Sisters in an Ajah know who heads the Ajah's Eyes-and-Ears, signals, which are taught to all sisters within the Ajah, are put out for when they have an urgent message to give any sister of the Ajah that happens by. Signals are only put out when the message is important and must be received as soon as time allows.

  • Red daisy (plant used for headaches) put into a red vase.
  • Alternatively, redwort (a plant "that can drive a bull mad") in a red vase, depending on region.
  • To signal to the Eyes-and-Ears one is a Red sister, and thus receive the message, construct a sentence with the words "red" and "gentle". For example, asking for red fennel tea to gentle the stomach.
  • Burnt cinnamon: Clothiers would offer a sister silk in the color of burnt cinnamon, wise women would offer it in tea, and spice merchants offer sticks. Asking for a certain amount with a numeral will tell the Eyes-and-Ears how long it's been since you last received a message, in weeks. The signal speaks of haste.

Important Weaves

These are weaves you will learn as a Red sister.

  • Sever: All Reds know the Weave to gentle a male channeler, but this is not exclusive to the Red Ajah.
  • Resonance Reader: Used to detect residues of saidin (or saidar).
  • Weaves of Spirit to cut flows of saidar or saidin. These are weaves taught in practice to battle other channelers.

To give an explanation of the “The Watchers” RP, the following text is copied from one of Muirenn’s posts [Oct 2008], since it was never officially wrapped up.

Quote

The 'My Brother's Keeper' RP was meant to be the lead up to the Watcher's RP.  The high point in Watchers was supposed to be when Maegan (then Head) and Muirenn (stilled and bonded to the M'Hael) showed him the ter'angreal of what is basically the founding of the Red Ajah.  It was our 'proof' that our intentions in going into the BT were not meant as an attack, and that we were on a peace mission.

So what went wrong?

 Lots.

During the course of the RP the WT Div changed leadership twice, and the BT once.  With both of the WT leadership changes the new folks were either out of the loop on the planning or had other ideas of how they wanted it to play out.  And each time we had massive player attrition.  We lost half our PCs in Watchers in the first changeover, and almost all the rest in the second.  Dali (the M'Hael) quit, Covai went inactive, and the new BT DL was left with the pieces.

I think Covai and I might be the last PCs standing from Watchers. :P  So, yah, we didn't get to do the RP the way we originally wanted.

But!  I talked with Jayde the other day and we figured out a possible resolution.

It is assumed that the bonded sisters were released back to Tar Valon (except Muirenn, who is no longer Aes Sedai, so was outside the scope of negotiations) with their bonds still intact due to Annais's aggressive negotiating.  This is what led her to be elected Amyrlin.  Since the ter'angreal was in Muirenn's, then Maegan's possession, and since the BT didn't have anyone who knew how to work it, or even that it was anything important, it was sent back with the rest of their stuff.  So we've got it back.  Yay us!

I think it would definitely come up in Zarinen's discussion with Shevara, because both would know of it.  And if Zarinen brings it with her when we meet the BT envoys, we can show it to them as well.  And take it back to the BT to show the rest of the BT boys as well.  I think it'd make the more hesitant ones more likely to accept the whole situation, as well as give them a stronger tie to the Reds.

Now it's over! \o/
