Killa if you stick around a bit to talk to people in real time you might get a better feel for them.

 

Also a lot of players really aren't comfortable making reads until some deaths have happened to establish a baseline. If you're feeling lost right now, the reasons people are pushing to suspect or trust each other might make more sense to a new player further in.

 

In general just never feel bad for our sake. We love new players. New players are what keeps the game from turning into mindless repetition. If you're feeling blue because it just isn't for you, that's unfortunate but <3 thanks for giving it a try. If you just feel like you're bringing everyone else down because you don't know what's going on, don't worry about it. The dynamic of new/unfamiliar players is a constant and one we appreciate. Trying to figure you out is part of the fun, not a burden. :)

Well I am and also isnt the probability pretty high? I am sure most new players get town on the first go around so they can get a feel for the game.

I am not feeling blue. Lol Its just a game. I plan to play it through till my end. I always give something at least two tries before I say for sure this is not my thing.

I think I may also join a mafia game on the boards I have been on for a long time. That might give me a bit of a bump on knowing how to read the folks I am playing with.

That said the rand is 75% villa so strictly speaking yeah, newbies will PROBABLY be a villager (especially if the host feels bad)

 

anyway, I hope if you're a villager we can clear up whatever it is between us because I don't think the thread can handle both of us alive if we continue to go down this path, and if you're a villager that's a bad thing tm. The term we use in the big leagues is thunderdoming, and it is always beneficial to the wolves to enable the activity

Well I love you for this. It's awesome.

I browsed through each forum and copied every link to a Mafia game I could find, set up a database to do all the maths for me and plugged in the meta data, basically. Most mods include everything I needed in the OP--who got lynched which days and what they flipped. It was a lot of fun to put together, because I got a comprehensive look at how the game evolved on this site in the process.

 

 

And now when long lost players like this ed2funy guy pop up I can be all creeper because I know who you are.

I thought I only Modded like three games, but I guess with co-missing, I Modded 7.

 

I'm motntrhing to downplay this awesome database at oil, because it is AMAZING!

But I thought you wrote a script to find the games somehow - though I couldn't think what the search criteria would have been

I thought the business of assuming mods would give new players town preference was mildly villagery in that it's a reasonable misunderstanding for a new villager but requires some thinking outside of the box for a first timer in a wolf slot.

 

Basically the wolf has to realize that's not the case and project it as a likelihood anyway whereas the villager just has to not know any better.

I basically made co-mod criteria anyone who posted a flip (as opposed to only posting vote ocunts) prior to games I was personally familiar with.

 

Since I know that's not great criteria based on personal experience (I sure as hell don't deserve mod credit for Supernatural but I posted flips in it) I should probably update it later to designate only people who were designated co-mod from the start or took over full responsibilities because the original mod had to drop out.

 

I have no formal training in coding so I'm a proud monkey, but a script to grab the data automatically would have failed hard imo. Too many games where mods slanked or mechanics were too complicated.

Ugh now I am trying to find why I felt that way about clov and manbat and I cant pin it down. Also reading all the spam is making my eyes cross. There is evwn a possibility I am mixing up Cory and Clov.

 

I no longer know whats up and whats down so I plan to just wait till day two to make any reads. I mean unless something stands out. Even then someone will probably apot it long before I do.
