Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

May the perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace. 58 is too young for anyone to pass away, but I thank Mr. Jordan and any and all who assisted him in his wonderful creations. His books have been to war with me in 1991 and they have been a pleasure to read throughout all the passing years. He will be missed. My sympathies to his family and friends. God Bless.

There is very little I can put into words to express how sorry I am to hear of RJs passing. I only know him through his writing, which has touched so many people and has brightened many days, but it is his real life story that is the truely important one. He was obviously a very brave man as well as a talented one and will be deeply missed. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.

I was very saddend to find out yesterday that RJ has passed away.

I started reading Wheel of Time about 4 years ago when a friend of mine gave me The Eye of the World so that I could have something to read in a foreign country.

Since then I have been hooked and have reread the whole series when the Knife of Dreams came out.

While waitig for MOL to come out I found out that RJ was seriously ill. But reading his blog showed me his amazing optimism and strength and his connection to his fans from all around the world.

He will be missed

I was texted this morning (UK time) with the news that RJ has passed away... I've spent the last hour since on the website, reading the posts and thinking about the life of the man (what little I knew)...

My thoughts and sympathies are with his family at this difficult time. His work was a splendid contribution to the genre and writing in general and I have enjoyed every moment reading them.

Farewell, Wordsmith. To guide is to be guided.

"It’s strange to feel loss when you’ve never met a person."

Someone said those words near the start of all these comments. I don't think there is anything that can better describe how I feel having heard the sad news. My condolences to all those who knew and loved RJ. He has been an inspiration to me and will forever remain the person I aspire to be. Thank you RJ.

I wish to give my deepest and most sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. Robert Jordan has been one of my favourite authors for many years and I have enjoyed greatly his vivid, versatile and breath-taking writing in Wheel of Time. His ingeniousness will stay alive forever in his life's work as well as in all our hearts.

God bless you Robert, thank you for all that you have given us.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there, I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glints on snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain

I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

of soaring birds in circled flight.

I am the star that shines at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.

I am not there, I did not die.

With deepest regret I've read of James's passing. For me, it has been like loosing a companignon I traveled trough time and space for nearly 13 years now. But my my deepest smpathy goes to his family and friends; their loss does far expand all i feel as reader. I wish them all the force they need to go one without him. No man is truly dead as long he lives in mind and soul of those who loved him, and

who he had loved

This news appeared on the BBC website in the UK this morning, which is in itself a testiment to the appeal of the great man's works.

I just heard the terrible news about RJ passing on. It shocked me quite a bit.

It got me silent there for a few hours and I only now start to realise it, a true

genious mind has left us. Hard to grasp and even harder to accept. Some things

are just to true to be good......

I spoke with RJ when he was in Holland and he was a very well spoken man. We

even made the "arms around us" fan picture with some friends.

Rest quitely and softly my dear RJ, May the winds of the Dragon carry you to

a higher, even better place. Blessed Be!

The wheel of time keeps turning people. He may not have been able to finish the

series this time, but my guess is that the Fabric of Time will weave him out in

another cycle to finish it.

My deepest sympathies go out To RJ's famliy, especially to Harriet.

Stand vast!

Writers like Robert Jordan give hope and courage to their readers through their heroes and their fight against that ultimate evil, learning us there is alway a ray of light somewhere in the darness.

The battle Robert fought against this disease is no less heroic than Rand's fights. It needs great courage to face what is said an inevitable death.

Robert was a great mean we knew only through this web site, and although most of us only know the man through this blog, we all feel a friend is gone.

My condolences to friends and family.
