Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

Guest Wilson

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

"Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time."

I'll see you in the next turn of the Great Wheel, my friend. You're going to be missed greatly.

Harriet, just know that he inspired me to dream. Between Tolkien and himself, I found a world that I never could have imagined had I been given 1000 turnings of the Wheel. You're Robert is special to all of us. I consider him a friend, even though we'd never met.

My prayers are with you all in this time. Please accept my humblest of condolences, as I know how hard this must be for all of you. Sending good feelings your way.

Forever lost in the weave,

Trent :-)

You will be in my memory for always.

Thank you so much for the many hours, days, weeks, months and yes, even years of WoT. You have not yet stopped touching the hearts of people, there are still many more out there that will one day pick up your books and be drawn into the world you have created.

For your last journey... Peace!

During the fall of 1998 I picked up a book called “The Eye of the World†for the first time. I didn’t know what it was about, although I had seen it sitting on the shelf at the bookstore many times before. I never knew that day the profound effect this action would have on my life. I never knew the profound effect this man, James Oliver Rigney Jr. aka Robert Jordan, would have on my life. Since that day 9 years ago, he has managed to capture my imagination like it never has been before. He has managed to stand out above all the other authors I have ever read. He has managed to make me laugh and bring me to the point of tears with just the words he wrote. He has managed to convince me that pursuing my dream of writing was worth the effort, just by his shining example. He has managed to earn my respect as a person like few other authors or ‘public’ figures I know. He has managed to make me feel like I knew him, and that he was a good friend. He has touched my life like few people ever have, and like few people ever will. My biggest regret in life now is that I never managed to meet him in person. I never had a chance to look in his eyes and thank him from my heart for playing his crucial role in bringing my wife into my life. That was the greatest effect he had on me of all, and one that I will be in his debt for the rest of eternity. I suppose I will just have to hunt you down in the next life Jim, and share with you my gratitude then. It will be a while, but be patient Mr Rigney. I will find you someday.

To Harriet, Wilson and Family, thank you for being so gracious and sharing James with us. You had one of the great treasures on all of earth in him, and it was truly generous of you to let us all know him, even if just for a little while. You have my love and support forever. You will be in my prayers through these trying times.

RJ will never know how much he has brought to my life and that of my friends, since i was 12 y.o. until now at 27. So much has passed between through words.

Sleep well now and wake, the dream is over, dear friend...

To the family and friends of The Dragon,

I came in to work tonight expecting yet another quiet night as usual. I went over to a friend and picked up one of my Steven Erikson books when he told me that The Dragon had died. Even knowing what his condition had been, it still came as a shock to me. I came back to my desk still reeling. Quite unbidden, tears started forming in my eyes. I have never met Mr Jordan personally, nor did I even know his real name until today, but I feel like I have just lost a very good friend. I will miss him and his work more than I knew I would.

May The Dragon be reborn evertime his works are read.

My condolences to RJ's friends and families.

Though it has been some time since I read the series, RJ's books have had a huge impact on my life. I have made friends and had experiences I never would have had were it not for these books, and for that I cannot thank the author enough.

I wish him peace.

A huge loss to this world. I do some amateur writing, and most of my inspiration, my style, came from RJ and the Wheel of Time. He will be remembered.

Reading Knife Of Dreams for the second time... Around 3:40am, (can you relate?) Almost near the end I decided to check when the release of the next book will come out. Having never been to any of the websites, met any of the friends, family, acquaintances, or the man whom tells such incredible tales, I was taken aback by the news he had passed to a better place…

I wept-and still weep.

Truly incredible in this day and age- I write in a forum for the first time, and I don’t write! I cry for someone I’ve never met, and I don’t cry. I try and share in the grief of people I don’t know because of one man, his imagination and his desire/passion to share it with others.

It seems he lived his life to the fullest and was surrounded by those who loved and cherished him for who he was, not just for the stories he told.

His light and yours has and will always shine brite!
