It would be too hard to simply pick up where the last show left off. You would need all the same actors etc. I think someone would have to start over from the beginning.
-
You have to remember with streaming it's about how many new members did they add, if WOT wasn't really boosting subscriptions then it doesn't matter. It's great if current members are watching it, but they need new people to join.

They might not have known but my guess is they at least suspected it was coming. The person at Amazon responsible for signing WOT was fired, so that's never a good sign. Not to mention the longer the delay is agreeing to a new season the more worry there should be. Finally, Amazon was already talking about cutting expenses.

I honestly don't see someone picking it up. Is it worth the cost? Look at how much 3 seasons of this cost. I don't think season 3 costs have been released. But the production costs for the first two was something like $260 million. Season three had to be at least $130 million. Not to mention if someone else picks it up, do they start where this left off or at the beginning? How many seasons would be needed to finish this? Supposedly the rights have gone to /WOT Production Limited, and they do not have a very good history with things.

It was RJ, Brandon might have put his own spin on it but it was RJ's idea. It also couldn't take place until Mat was ready. Which would've rushed his story. She couldn't show up too quickly or would've ruined much of why Rand needed Casudane. Rand would have immediately gone back to Moiraine and pretty much made Cas pointless.

Will the Seanchan cull the ability to channel?
Sabio replied to Bentrudagi's topic in Wheel of Time Books
Since certain things need to happen like last battle, DO prison being opened, people forget DO exists etc. But nothing saying the same thing has to cause it, As @bringbackthomsmoustachestates it doesn't have to be identical events. Maybe the Seanchan cull the ability by capturing too many women who channel, imean they capture the women and men who will channel regardless. If all they leave are the people who need to be taught, then would stand to reason in time channeling would be rare. Or maybe it's a sickness etc. So many men are suddenly about becuase before no one was crazy enough to go about testing to find men who had the ability to channel. As described in the books Taim would basically go town to town and gather up anyone who even showed an interest in his offer. -
I also remember Verin talking about the whites were discussing if gentling the men was the reason the Aes Sedai were finding fewer and fewer women. Something about someone recommended if the Whites were so concerned maybe they should breed with the men. It was mentioned how the Aiel find almost all the women who can channel, I'm guessing the Sea FOlk do also. So there are still channeling women out there that are having babies. The Aes sedai also don't allow those too weak or too old.

The last episode had its good moments, but the confusing Lanfear/Moiraine fight sort of ruined it.
-
Seanchan capture any woman who will channel, the women controlling them are ones who could channel if ever taught. If they are never taught and the women who can channel die out, then you will only have women who might channel if taught but they would never know it. Randland would have wise ones, kin, wind finders etc women who can channel and still have relationships. If the Seanchan ever took Randland then these women would also be forced to stop having children. The ability to channel would never die it would just become women who are clueless they could channel. The interesting thing is Shara uses their male channelers as breeding stock, and channelers were only allow to sexual relationships with other channelers.

There is also a difference between the 3rd oath and the collar. We have seen how the Aes Sedai defines things. It varied when an Aes Sedai felt threatened. Holding a knife to her throat would make her feel in danger but could she blast away at innocent people becuase of it or is she forced to try and kill the person who is actually putting her life in danger? I think a lot comes down to how an Aes Sedai views and interprets things. Egwene couldn't pick up the pitcher because it was viewed as a weapon to be used against the Suldam, I would think any insane channeler would be quickly killed by the Seanchan. They don't needlessly toss away Damane. So, I don't think they are common enough to waste a 100 on experiments. If I remember correctly they were in shock how many women there were that could channel in Randland. Someone once speculated the Seanchan chaining women at such early ages if it was actually breeding out the ability to channel in Seanchan.

I always felt part of the problem was RJ was going through his treatment yet felt he owed it to the fans to give them something. So those books always seemed like set up books for later books.
-
I just think if it was true that RJ would've left it in some notes, Time runs different, but you can't be living in the dream world and walking about in the real world at the same time.

It would be impossible for Cain to be Olver. Regardless of time running different in the dream world, Cain's soul can't be in the dream world as his body is walking about in the real world for years. Just like Elayne's kids will be born too late to be Cain. Even in the Companion there is no mention of Olver/Cain being the same.

People also forget Dem was partially insane by this point, Moghi mentioned how he had changed since being around the Sharans. He had been using the True Power a lot and one of the side effects is insanity. He couldn't use the male half around them, so he had to rely on the True Power. Suffering from partial insanity would explain some of his behavior at the end.

Is the Wheel of Time impossible to bring to TV? Is AI our only hope?
Sabio replied to Cipher's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
Just not sure if WOT can ever be adapted properly to the screen. To me it suffers from what a lot of books suffer from when someone tries to make a movie or series from it. Books can go into so much more detail that a series can't. I think there is simply too much explaining that needs to be done that there isn't time to do on the screen. The dream world, Aiel war, the Horn, heroes of the Horn, Aiel, AOL, the Dragon, wolf dreams, Forsaken, one power, male half, female half etc. Even Perin is a lot of internal dialogue which doesn't work well on the screen. Game of Thrones was made in mind with it finally going to a series on TV. WOT wasn't. I'm just not sure with the time constraints of TV series that is could ever be done properly. -
It was like thy won't kill anyone, ohh damn they killed Uno in the most brutal way. Then they made him a hero and pretty much ruined the death.

Uno's death was classic.

What would you have started the show with?
Sabio replied to Blackbyrd's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
Time limitations and wasted time are some of the shows biggest issues, if they had to cut 10 minutes then they might not have been able to spend an entire episode to a warder who was going to die at the end. Or toss Egwene into a river. -

That is the big problem, 10 minutes of a 1-hour show setting up just what's going on? -

I like the prologue but I just don't think it would've worked for the series. Had they stayed closer to the book an opening scene of Tam and Rand heading to town and Rand seeing the Fade would've been a creepy way to start things. The foretelling would've been a nice flashback for when Moiraine explains to him what he is or when SIuan was giving her speech before she died. -
I know I have heard Warhammer rumors before, seems like an expensive project. It also mentioned Amazon plans to offer ROP for syndication.
-
I just read that Amazon is looking to make a Warhammer 40k series. The speculation is this is part of the reason WOT was canceled as Amazon didn't wish to pay so much for another fantasy middle age type series. This would have their series spread out with ROP, Fallout, Reacher then Warhammer 40k. ROP was signed for 5 seasons so they can't nix that, plus as it described ROP gives Amazon much more in the way of possible spin off chances. Something WOT was limited in unless they wished to do the New Spring book.

I always saw the alternate worlds as the pattern's failsafe device, so there will always be a pattern etc since there are so many alternate realities. If Ishy got a hold of a powerful device and went around balefiring everyone in reality 1 there are other places where people still live. Rand's flickers if I remember right involved his never declaring himself the dragon so he isn't there to oppose the DO. if every decision you make can cause a different reality then it makes sense there are places the DO won.

Well not looking good, there is an article that says that "The Wheel of Time not being shopped to other networks after cancellation". The Wheel of Time not being shopped to other networks after cancellation My guess is it's just seen as being too expensive for any other network to really want to pursue, will it bring in enough new viewers to make it worthwhile? I mean I couldn't really see Sony or Amazon saying no if someone like Apple stepped up with a good offer. But seems like not much effort on Sony or Amazon to sell it and not much effort by other services to acquire it. To be honest I thought WOT was ok, not great. I wouldn't subscribe Apple just to see WOT.

I'm just pointing out the Tolkien estate hates the Jackson movies to the pint that ROP was forbidden to use anything from the movies or even reference the movies. Fans might've liked the movies, but the Tolkien estate didn't like his changes.
