From what I have read "It’s not at all clear how such a tariff would be imposed. Films are intellectual property, not goods, so they represent a kind of service that is not currently subject to tariffs. However, the USTR notes that some services can be subject to certain non-tariff trade barriers, such as regulations and tax incentives. Those could disadvantage American filmmaking." I honestly can't see this going very far since the countries could do the same to movies made in the US since many US states such as Georgia offer tax incentives. The movie industry now depends on the foreign market sales.

Seems rather dumb to pay $250 million for something you don't own. I can see why Amazon wouldn't want to pay another $250 million for another 3 seasons then another $250 million in costs to make the show.
-
I'm curious when viewers should worry. It takes about 1 1/2 years for a season to come out. So even a 6-month delay in getting an agreement means a 2 year wait. How long until some of the actors start looking for new gigs?

Ok, I'm confused. Amazon spent $250 million for the rights to Wheel of Time. Doesn't that mean they can make as many seasons as they want?

Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion
Sabio replied to SinisterDeath's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
For me E5 and E7 were pretty bad, even the last episode had good moments but issues such as the Moiraine and Lanfear fight really hurt the episode. It was a very uneven season IMo where you would have good episodes like 4 and 6 then follow each up with probably the worst ones of the season. -
There is an article with a Q&A with the developers The Wheel of Time 'AAA Open-World RPG' Is Legit, Its Developers Insist, but Don't Hold Your Breath for a Release Date — It Could Be a PS6 and Next Xbox Game When asked about the 3 year plan they said that they had no idea where the 3 year thing came from. But they haven't even hired a staff yet.

Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion

Season 3 was the best season so far, but the quality to me was all over the place, they would make a good episode then follow it up with a dud seemingly repeating many of their past mistakes. -
Pretty much the mid characters like Siuan, Valda, and Loial are being killed off becuase they might have done some stuff later, but with such limited time there just isn't the time to spend on them. Nothing they do is critical to the story, so they are being cut. Rafe felt it was important to give Siuan a strong moment.

How do channelers discover they are bad at healing?
Sabio replied to king of nowhere's topic in Wheel of Time Books
The big white book has a section about this, it pretty much comes down to two things. 1. The yellows believe there really isn't a better way to do things, How they do it now is the best there is. 2. Even if it might not be the best way few channelers are willing to risk burning themselves out experimenting with new weaves. There isn't a lot of desire before Nynaeve came around to find a better way. -
Yeah not sure how this could be done in just 3 years. Heck Star Citizen is on year 13 of development 😃 But what I would like to see would depend on what they have in mind. Will you be limited to what you can start as? Aes Sedai, Asha'man, aiel, white cloak etc

How do channelers discover they are bad at healing?
Sabio replied to king of nowhere's topic in Wheel of Time Books
One also has to remember it also depends on the weave. Since things are broken down into the five power Spirit, air, water, fire and earth. Healing is described as mostly spirit with some air and water. Every channeler has strengths and weakness with the five powers. Chances are if you're weak with spirit you will be a weak healer. -
God if he had to finish everything in 1 season it will be a huge disaster. The show already has a problem with pacing as it is, imagine if they had to go from Rand taking control of the Aiel to the Last Battle in one season. Rafe had originally said his guess was needing 6 seasons to finish it properly.

WOT doesn't have a bad budget, it's something like 10 - 12 million an episode. GOT was around $8 million an episode. Which is why I can never understand why the CGI in WOT always seems so poor. Supposedly ROP is around $58 million per episode. Amazon could never afford to pay ROP price for the Wheel of Time. -

Elaida has a very Whitecloak attitude, she is sure that she is 100% right and people who disagree with her must be bad. Where a Whitecloak uses weapons she just bullies and fuses force of will to do as she wants. She might truly believe Egwene a DF since Egwene has the nerve not only to oppose her, Siuan advises her, but also she has the nerve to be a rival. -
Something the show left out that has bothered me was Rand saying the Maidens carry my honor.

In the WOT Companion it says Elaida personally took part in Owen because Thom had too much influence with the queen, -

It really comes down to any sister who believed Siuan was a DF would've been free to use the power to kill her. -
This is one of those times I think both sides have a point, yes I found it odd Rand wasn't a little more upset at discovering Moiraine was working with Lanfear and putting his friends in danger. But he really can't be too upset considering he is also chatting and getting friendly with Lanfear.

It fits with ELadia from the book, if you read about the male channeler program (when the Reds started going around gentling any man who they thought might be able to channel on the spot) breaking tower law and many captured men were killed "trying to escape". Eladia knew about it and did nothing to stop it; she even did it to gentle Thom's nephew simply because Thom was too close to Morgase. So even in the book we see Eladia is perfectly fine allowing bad things to happen. Her not doing anything when Alviarian killed Siuan fits in character with her. Siuan knew the Dragon was reborn and hid it thus allowing a male who could channel to stay free. Why should Eladia care two bits about another Aes Sedai blasting her. -

To speak no word that is not true To make no weapon with which one man may kill another Never to use the One Power as a weapon except against Darkfriends or Shadowspawn, or in the last extreme defense of her life, the life of her Warder, or another Aes Sedai It's hard not to view killing someone with the one power as using it as a weapon. But since she was accused of being a Darkfriend anyone could claim that it why they killed her with the one power. -
You could remove Loial and Siuan and would the book miss a beat? After being deposed Siuan had some book time but did she really do anything important? To me Samm is another that really didn't do enough, that if it was taken out would've weakened the book. Loial honestly could be removed entirely from the book. I assume Allana is staying becuase of the bonding of Rand and they need someone to get stabbed in every episode.
-
From the way Rafe makes it seem we can expect a few mid character deaths like Loial, Valda, and Siuan. People who simply weren't major players in the series. With the limited time and so many arcs to put in they want to instead give them proper sendoffs. He pretty much said the actress playing Siuan was too good to simply kill without giving her a strong moment.

As we have seen with Mats dagger from season 1 to the second season, the show easily could have made a mistake with the name. Or they could easily just dump the snakes all together and anyone who hadn't read the books would be none the wiser, I mean with Mat and his questions, there is already going to be big changes that will need to occur.
-
If just 2 doors, it would make sense one would lead to each. Maybe they are dumping the snakes all together. If there are three or more then I guess anything goes.
-
I think it depends on how many doors the show will claim there are. Is there going to be one in Tear?
