A question re Verin...Warning Spoilers Book 12
Sabio replied to Figs and Mice's topic in Wheel of Time Books
Sadly the Companion doesn't give a lot if info just "She joined under "Duress" after investigating some rumors and tales which resulted in her nearly uncovering some members of the BA." My guess is she caught their attention, so they started to watch her, then when she was getting close to uncovering some members, they decided it was time to approach her. Then she would have prove her commitment, usually involving murdering someone like a friend etc. The Companion is a pretty good read if you're really into the history of the WOT. Shows how much thought RJ put into the world and characters. -
A question re Verin...Warning Spoilers Book 12

The WOT companion has Verin being raised to the Shawl in 875NE and becoming BA in 929NE. As for the oaths, if she was backed into a corner and knew her options were death or joining, it wouldn't be a lie for her to say she wants to join. -

When you know your life is on the line, I think it becomes easier to find a way to get around your oaths. Verin is smart as we see how she was able to use the phrase up until an hour of their deaths (forget exact wording) to her advantage. Once the BA approached her, she knew it was life or death, also depending on how a question is worded determines how one might speak around the oath. A good example is when the BA were torturing to find out who was sent on the hunt to find the dragon, they asked which Aes Sedai were sent. Siuan and Moiraine were just Accepted so their names weren't mentioned. The BA thought only full Aes Sedai would be involved, had they asked for the names of everyone who knew Siuan and Moiriane would've probably been killed. So how the question is worded determines alot. If someone asks you if you want to join the BA normally you have to say no since you don't. But if you're asked and you also don't want to die is it a lie to then say yes? If joining means living, then suddenly you want to join. You think I have no choice I have to join now. -
Shall we talk about that Lanfear thing? :) -heavy spoilers!!

I find this fits Perin pretty well. Perin never had a lot of dreamworld training, yet he was pretty confident of his abilities. Yes, he could do things few could like popping in and out at will. How much did he really understand? Just becuase he thinks he's protected from this or that is he really? He can do alot but knows very little. -

Simple she wanted to save her life, so she joined. Verin joined the Brown becuase she wanted to know everything. The companion says she joined under "Duress" after investigating some rumors and tales which resulted in her nearly uncovering some members of the BA. Seems like they pretty much told her join or die. Normally they would torture you to find out what you knew and how you found them then dispose of you. Chances are they understood what use she could be and made her an offer. -
Will the Seanchan cull the ability to channel?
Sabio replied to Bentrudagi's topic in Wheel of Time Books
If one kills all the men who will channel, then there is no one who can teach the ones who might channel if trained. Just like the women who could channel if trained slips past the Seanchean testing. It might seem that the ability is gone but there will always be those who could channel if taught. -
There is no way this can be true "Positive reviews for the Wheel of Time continued for seasons 2 and 3, with the latter reaching a nearly perfect score of 97%." iwot productions has a horrible history with making things happen, when you read about the video game they want to do. there is no way it can be done in the time frame they are claiming. I would be skeptical of anything they have their hands in.

You forget series like GOT, Seven kingdoms were planned to be TV series. WOT wasn't. It's easier to stick to the story/stay true to the books when the author already planned for them to go to TV. I'm sure RJ would've done somethings differently if he planned to make them a TV series also.
-
Now HBO is going to make a Baldur Gate series, maybe we will see if video games make better series, then a book does. But if these bomb people are saying it could scare off any major studio from pursuing fantasy series in the future.
-
If ever there was a slim hope of WOT coming back, this pretty much kills it. Looks like Amazon has moved on. Michael B Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' fantasy rival takes a major step forward Seems like Amazon MGM studio is backing this now. But Michael B Jordan is backing it, so ummm at least they're sticking with a Jordan. Also wonder what this means for Rings of Power.

What happened to Nynaeve in the Ter'angreal was real?
Sabio replied to tigerorange94's topic in Wheel of Time Books
Aginor tossing her about in book 1, would make him a true fear, she didn't know of the other Forsaken so would've been odd for her to think of those. Aginor was probably the scariest thing she had ever encountered. So that became her boogie man. It shouldn't be real which is why the Aes Sedai were surprised when she came out with real wounds also think her channeling in there surprised them. -
Most places still had a pretty conservative view of things before marriage. Rand mentioned in Two Rivers if a man and lady were caught having pre-marital relations they were basically forced to get married, So not odd people who suspect a man and lady sharing a room to be married. Not sure if Moiriane and Lan shared a room in the Two Rivers but once it was known he was her warder it probably wouldn't have seemed odd.

Again, it's how one defines most successful? They all had some successes, well maybe except the ones in Book1. They took over nations, manipulated people, caused chaos etc. Dem to me still seems the one of the few who didn't go off on his own thing, with his own agenda. Not to mention, like Ishy, as the DO's top general Dem was sort of needed. Where most of the others (like Semi) were pretty expendable, besides power they didn't have any skills that made them truly irreplaceable.
-
If you go by the books it was easily Demandred, at the end of book six he even asks the DO hasn't he done well or something like that. A lot of Dem's success was offscreen, freeing Taim, getting Taim accepted by Rand, uniting Shara etc. The chaos at Dumai's Wells was even suspected to be Dem's doing as to spread chaos which it did.

Gaul was more embarrassed letting his guard down and getting captured then shame. There is no shame, just like an Aiel would never "touch" a wetlander in combat and expect them to surrender. Spanking was usually seen as an embarrassment/ humiliation. Novices were spanked becuase they were viewed as children and that was how one disciplines a child. It was rare for Accepted. It wasn't something the Aiel went right to, it was usually something someone asked to be done. When *forgot her name" was punished by the maidens for stealing, they welted her all over so she would itch, they didn't spank her as punishment.

When people talk about how it makes no sense experienced Aes Sedai would be in awe or even let her take charge are forgetting how important strength in the power is to Aes Sedai. You see again and again in the books how they defer to the strongest. To me Egwene is the worst character, but she does see how Aes Sedai are too into "well this is always how it's been done" so they are pretty easy to manipulate.

The rumor I read said there wasn't much writing started for season 4. maybe they suspected there might not be a season 4 so didn't bother. It would be interesting to see whatever they had started or discussed,

Early in Two Rivers she shows no respect to the village council and I think and even hits Cein Blue with a stick. She was the show me respect as Wisdom but never felt she had to show others. I ended up liking her but early on she was a bully.
-
Because early on she is simply a bully, throwing tantrums, talking down to others, and using threats to get her way. Later she is much more likeable as she grows, but early in the series she is simply someone who tries to bully her way through things.
-
It would be too hard to simply pick up where the last show left off. You would need all the same actors etc. I think someone would have to start over from the beginning.
-
You have to remember with streaming it's about how many new members did they add, if WOT wasn't really boosting subscriptions then it doesn't matter. It's great if current members are watching it, but they need new people to join.
-
They might not have known but my guess is they at least suspected it was coming. The person at Amazon responsible for signing WOT was fired, so that's never a good sign. Not to mention the longer the delay is agreeing to a new season the more worry there should be. Finally, Amazon was already talking about cutting expenses.

I honestly don't see someone picking it up. Is it worth the cost? Look at how much 3 seasons of this cost. I don't think season 3 costs have been released. But the production costs for the first two was something like $260 million. Season three had to be at least $130 million. Not to mention if someone else picks it up, do they start where this left off or at the beginning? How many seasons would be needed to finish this? Supposedly the rights have gone to /WOT Production Limited, and they do not have a very good history with things.
