Not.  I agree that he needs to put his artistic fingerprints on the show, but why change iconic items just to change them?  The ruby dagger left lots of room for artistic expression without changing the ruby's position.  In the end, not a huge deal for me, just why...?

You ask why? In my opinion it is because they have no feeling with the books. Or to put it more bluntly, they don't care about the source material. Someone who did care about the books would get those 'little' things right.

Anyone noticing the pattern of total newbs creating an account just to slam the show?

Not that they can't have whatever opinion they want, but it seems (almost) exclusively bad...

You only joined in 2013, newb ?

But ehh.., I know it's hard to understand for the gigantic fanboys here but a lot of people who've enjoyed the books simply think the tv series looks really bad. What we've been shown so far anyway. And people want to talk about it, just like you do.

To be fair, HBO didn’t really need to do a lot here because everyone is already familiar with the franchise. But the casting, wardrobe, and cinematography already look better. I know I’m used to GOT so I’m biased, but that my impression currently.

Nah, no bias. GoT would beat WoJ hands down if they were both nominated for awards in those categories.

Exactly the same problem happened in Tolkien’s works and cuts had to be made. Bombadil, old man willow, the siege of the shire, The Barrow wights, etc.

Some times you can cut a ton of content and still end up with something true and wonderful.

Then you go back, make a MMO about it and have all the freedom to include the cut content and even take uncut stuff but pull it back to a more literal interpretation.

All that missing stuff and more was in LOTRO - one of my top four favorite MMO ever (The others being Galaxies and Aion and SWTOR.)

And thats what I would like to will into existence. The Wheel Of Time MMO. With a server for roleplaying ? plzkthx.

The difference being that Jackson made a movie instead of a series.

If he had made a series I daresay he wouldn't have cut all of that.

Has it been confirmed that they cast a male actor to play Lews Therin? What if, just hang with me here, LT is actually a woman “in this turning,” and the internal struggle between Rand and LT is actually Rand transitioning? Could that help the show “appeal to a younger audience?”

I'm so glad you're not the showrunner..

Sorry, the damaged wall in not seen in the Perrin/Egwene scene.  I meant the Perrin/Egwene scene shows that the city is surrounded by a wall.  And the fact that in the Rand/Mat scene we can see the encompassing wall is very badly damaged in places we can assume it is Shadar Logoth.

    Ah, got it.

I think you're right about it being Shadar Logoth because which other city could it be?

Though they should be with Thom and jump on the boat of Domon instead of climbing some mountain with just the two of them. But I guess everything's going to be changed..

    /sigh

#3]  If you look closely they are heading away from the city and one of them turns and looks back.  It is likely Shadar Logoth because if you look at the wall it appears to have collapsed at certain points.  Which would match the look of the wall that Egwene and Perrin climb to the top of in the trailer.

Where do you see a collapsed wall in the Perrin/Egwene scene?

You're right on the fact they're moving away. So it's probably not Whitebridge. But to me it looks too bright for Shadar Logoth. Can't recall what it's supposed to look like though.

Then again, not that that matters apparently.

So on a different note... here's the weirdest things I noticed about the teaser that ends up being good source material, potentially, for discussion or for Thras:

#1] We see Lan protecting Nynaeve in the clearing with the other warders & Aes Sedai (so it can't be a flashback) but it seems tied to the Logain capture.... Where's Moiraine?

#2] We see an Aes Sedai on the ground and Steppin being catapulted forward by Moiraine at a shielded Logain? What's up with that? Where's Lan?

#3] We see Rand & Matt on the side of a mountain headed towards... Whitebridge maybe? People have speculated Shadar Logoth ... But the group isn't suppose to get split up until after Shadar Logoth right?

#4] We see 5 people galloping away along the Riverside ... Shouldn't there be 6? And Nynaeve tracking them?

#5] We see Rand, Matt, Nyn, and Lan riding towards the WayGate where 3 people wait for them.

Again, Lan never (and should never) is separated from Moiraine right?

And don't they absolutely need Lolial to travel through the Ways?

    Any theories?

    3. I was thinking Whitebridge as well.

    4. There really are six people.

    5. You're missing one person again. There are four people waiting. Three on horseback and Moiraine standing in front of Aldieb.

Pause video and use , and . to slowly go through the trailer. You'll see there are 6 riding away from EF and 4 people waiting ?

  9. 1. Lan is not working for me. Wasn't Leane supposed to be amazingly beautiful? Perrin is meh. Egwene and Nyn are worse. Getting Tywin Lannister in there feels like Gandalf playing Thom. So the casting is absolutely horrendous for me.

    2. Myrdraal is over the top with his rows and rows of teeth like some alien space worm I've seen in some movie somewhere.

    3. Where's Mashadar? Don't tell me the stone turning black is supposed to be it.

    4. I never got the fact that apparently Emond's Field has always been like an international town with people from all over the world. Wasn't that supposed to happen only later on in the series? If it isn't then I guess this one's on me for having a crappy memory.

    5. It feels all very woke and female centred. Which is also the reply I got when I showed the trailer to some people who never read a single word from WoT and who are definitely not going to watch this with me it seems. Well, at least I can watch it in my own time then.

    6. Scenery looks neat and so does the weaving I think. Shouldn't there be some colours in there though?

I'm really hoping I'm going to be surprised and it turns out to be fine but for now it feels miles behind GoT. Taking that one as benchmark because let's be honest, most other fantasy series are just so incredibly bad it's not even funny anymore.
