  1. Saw somebody compare this to how magic battles should have looked like in The Witcher and some other shows, it's definitely a great opener to the season that's gonna grab attention from people who might not have cared otherwise. Excellent marketing to lead with this long clip.
  2. First 11+ minutes of S3E1 released on Prime (including at the end of Reacher) and also here on YouTube in 4K
  3. Entirety of S3E1!! Plus cast interviews from the London live screening perhaps? Maybe announcing greenlight for S4? I love that the production and marketing teams are this confident with the new season, this is a great sign.
  4. Right there with you! As to all the concerns, it's WAFO as always. I'm sure it will be less than perfect, but what we've seen of S3 so far is genuinely exciting.
  5. https://www.amazon.com/salp/thewheeloftimefanevent RSVP at the link, not really sure what it's gonna be, but I bloody well signed up.
  6. Somebody on reddit posted this image from a horizontal version of the S3 poster. Is someone channeling around here, 'cause my skin's getting cold!
  7. The dedication to assuming ill intent is just exhausting. Maybe the show will actually follow through on everything they've been saying for literal years about season 3 being where they are able to align with book 4 and give us a more direct adaptation? You don't have to believe them, but it's just annoying to inject the little black raincloud at every turn. The bees are not fooled.
  8. Yeah, maybe this delicious pizza is actually a handful of sand and it's all a simulation, man.
  9. I think it's more likely to be a season-ending cliffhanger after the showdown at Alcair Dal in episode 8, but I also believe something very much like that is going to happen.
  10. It was just one of many phrases and scenes in the trailer that foreshadow book moments I'm excited for. That one - "If the White Tower does not bend the knee to Rand al'Thor..." is clearly part of the buildup to Dumai's Wells: "Kneel and swear to the Lord Dragon," he said softly, "or you will be knelt." Maybe next season?
  11. "Bend the knee..."
  12. Poster out today, trailer out tomorrow! https://winteriscoming.net/new-poster-for-the-wheel-of-time-season-3-reveals-the-return-of-a-surprising-character
  13. Looks like London is gonna get one, and it will be streamed
  14. I think that's all likely, and I also think there is going to be some Aes Sedai followup with Mat regarding the Horn of Valere and possibly a second dagger healing like in the books. Not sure how Rand and Perrin (and Aviendha) are going to be roped in and then let loose by the Tower for the rest of the season. Excited to see though!
  15. A dapper cheeky Mat https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFsZAMANJSI/?igsh=MWJsNDdhOHR0MjB2aw%3D%3D A few very brief clips from S3 included, leaving me with more questions than answers (which is a good thing, questions make viewers want to watch a show)
  16. haha, jinx!
  17. Well, WOT Wednesday #2 seems like a bust, but I did see these new stills from S3 released. Pretty cool stuff, the Morgase costume is WAY over the top https://reactormag.com/the-wheel-of-time-season-3-first-look-images-give-us-morgase-elaida-more-questions-than-answers/ If the Reactor link doesn't work it's because they jumped the gun and had to take it down. 18. Exactly as in the books, FYI. That the Seanchan used the word "trained" and similar language was clearly an indication of their cruelty.
  19. Glad this is back, weekly updates through S3!
  20. I totally understand your point. I don't agree, but I 100% understand. I would prefer what I described since it's more reflective of how I read the Seanchan culture in the books. The show has every right to emphasize different things.
  21. I really like the visual of it, emphasizing that damane should not speak to anyone other than their sul'dam, they have no voice, in the Seanchan concept. That really dovetails with other Seanchan costuming, including Suroth's mask to keep her from being seen and even Turak's earhole coverings demonstrating he is not listening to those he doesn't grant that privilege to. I just wish it was more of a shield hanging from a nose ring or something and not what appears to be an actual pacifier in their mouth.
  22. Nobody wants the kind of help you're offering. I could offer you pity, but I doubt you're in that market either. Mat was a selfish slacker with a heart of gold until he turned into Dagger Mat who was everybody's least-favorite character until he got a re-boot in Book 3. The show making him a shade darker in the beginning is absolutely in tune with the early books. Everyone knows he left his friends in the show because the actor left the cast unexpectedly, and they did what they could to tie that off, unsatisfactory as it is. Claiming disdain toward book fans is ludicrous. Perrin was a relentless mope in the books, I have no idea why anyone would see him as any different in the show. Yes, they had him kill his wife, which I wouldn't have done, but all we have in the books is this big guy who walks small because he was afraid of hurting people like he'd done when he was a kid? Make that make sense without an inner monologue. The fridging makes sense from an efficiency standpoint, if absolutely not for creativity. Sure, Moiraine showing more power and doling out more lore would have been great. The "Weep For Manetheren" scene should have been one of several similar if I had my druthers, but we know that Rafe had to fight like hell just to keep that in. She is obviously the prime mover of all their adventures in S1, so I don't know how one could say her intelligence and drive are in any way diminished. Lan is more than just a super soldier, and I'm glad to see a wider range in the show, which is apparent to his peers in the books anyway, it's just that Rand and his daddy issues is who Lan gets filtered through. Sure, book Lan would never have been surprised by Nynaeve outside Shadar Logoth (and he easily overpowered her there too, btw), and we've discussed the "tell" stupidity ad nauseum, it's part of the panicked rewrite after losing Mat's actor and all the covid restrictions. To fixate on minor details like those as fundamental character traits is a choice one can make, but is certainly not obligated to. I would have loved to see Thom be more of the Merlin from Disney's The Sword In The Stone that I imagined in the early books, but that was always incongruous with the character we got to know later in the books. A courtly outcast who moves among thieves and brutes with swagger is an excellent way to introduce him in the show. That's how I see it, for the record. You've made it clear you don't. Let's both take a page from DojoToad and seek to convince no further.
  23. Dealing with this in my non-WoT life, well said and a valuable reminder!
