Anyone thought of a reason for this yet?
-
I would also vote for the books.
During my first read through, I remember, as I was reading the climax of Lord of Chaos, I was so into it, that it far closer to being dreaming than anything else.
... Come to think of it, I might actually have been partially asleep and dreaming at the time. It was incredibly vivid.

I never really cared for Egwene.
When we very first met Gawyn, I thought he had potential, but it wasn't really followed through on.
I liked Siuan at the beginning, and ended with being lukewarm on her.
I also liked both Rand and Mat all the way through. Same with Thom. And Tuon.
Moiraine I went from lukewarm to liking and back to lukewarm.

I don't actually know very much about any of the titles in particular, but I've heard good things about the following:
Gears of war
Shadow of Mordor
Ori and the blind Forest
Diablo
Dishonored
I've heard al lot of conflicting things about Destiny 2 with a slight edge to negative, I think
I haven't seen anything of Injustice to differentiate it from any other title in the genre, unless you're a big fan of DC.

Why does every prophecy have to favor the Dragon? Clearly the part of the prophecy had Bao not being able to channel. Hence the TP coming into play, since in Shara a man who can channel is tattoed, can't read or write. forbidden to leave village, is used as breeding stock and killed as soon as they show signs of starting to channel. So Dem couldn't show up channeling. Dem hijacked the prophecy but there nothing saying Rand was meant to do it, could be it was destined for Dem to do.
Because the Shadow does its very best to conceal their prophecies from the light. (See ToM, Moridin conversing with Graendal) and if the prophecier was light aligned, they would most likely be favorable to a light aligned person.
Also, Demandred's big thing is that he isn't Rand. I think it fits in with his personality very well to highjack one of Rand's prophecies.
And lastly, because as Talmanes says, literally every other group of people have prophecies of him.

In the intro to tGS, it's revealed that Masema had been manipulated by a forsaken. When did this start?
And to a lesser extent, does anyone disagree with me that it was Lanfear/Cyndane?

so, I'm sure you've all at least heard of the theories that talk about how our world is one of the ages.
How does the arbitrary difference between earth, air, and water compare with that?
they are all just combinations of various elements.

I have to counter this point with another: Rand was warned (by saidin or however channelers and their Warders sense the Shadowspawn) and left his room to pick his ground to fight those Darkhounds. Mat was in bed with Melindhra and only happened to get up to go get a drink of water. It was mentioned that he was also naked or in his smallclothes when this occured. I imagine that he indeed would have spent the time to hold the door instead of doing anything else. He was in a vulnerable moment, unarmed and underdressed, when a huge bunch of dogs try to come into his room.
Further, at that time, Mat was still getting used to his memories and more importantly his place in the world as a great mover and shaker. It is not until the next book that Mat even starts to begin to feel responsible for his destiny and the lives of others.
thats a fair enough point, but I still think that I would put rand over mat, even if I can't think of any of moments where they both fought they same thing and in the same quantity.

just bought the necronomicon !!!!
I'll pretend that me waiting over a week to reply was purposeful, in order to give you time to have read some of it.
What do you think?

makes sense. I never thought that hard about it.
However, the only abscence I can think of in tGH is after she skips out on Egwene and Nynaeve, and then we don't see her until the very end. Does she actually leave in the very beginnig?
-
fair enough.
I haven't actually read much of Perrin's arc post tSR since my first or second Reread.
However, from what I remember, I think I agree with your assessment.
I found it pretty mediocre, although if it hadn't been so elongated, I think it could have been above average.
-
I thought that was when she visits Aldaleas and Vendane
-
I never had a problem with that part.
It was far enough into Sanderson's work that I was past the disparity in how Mat was written, and it was built up so much that even if it had been written much worse I think I still would have enjoyed it.
-
well, most of the characters are very learned people.
It is literally Thom's job, and Aes Sedai, are indeed Aes Sedai.
-
I'm more surprised that Amathera is mentioned more often than Moiraine.
Why are you so surprised about plump?
-
I don't think I would put Jearom in at all. We just don't have any base of comparison for him with everyone else.
Also, I think that Rand is better than Mat.
At the very least, in book 5, where I happen to be in my re-read, he is.
Rand is able to disable several Darkhounds with his sword, while Mat simply tries to hide in his room.
As for Ishamael, he more of tied book 2 Rand, and really, Rand got good with the Sword very fast. he was able to kill multiple Darkfriends at once, in book 3, with no additional training. he was also insane during this period.
As for Laman, Rand mocks his sword when he gets it, for being overly gaudy. He probably got it because he was King of Cairhein

Actually, you're right. I was thinking of the line where Slayer mentions "killing my nephew and his wench." Since I pretty much never think of Slayer as Luc, I jumped immediately to Lan, but I guess that Lan would be Isam's cousin, while Rand actually is Luc's nephew.
However, there is still Moiraine's line in the GH about how she didn't dare mention to Lan that Isam was mentioned in the Shadow Prophecies for fear of what he'd do.
Later, in Tel'aran'rhiod, Nynaeve runs into him near the Two Rivers, (I think, it might have been somewhere else) and remarks about how similar to Lan he looked.
There was still a lot of room for him to have become a Lan villain.
-
You are right there, in a way, I never really felt like Moiraine came back, Sure, she clears some stuff up at Merrilor, but if anyone there was acting rationally, that wouldn't have been necessary, and then she was up at Shayol Ghul with Rand. But she had nothing to do, really, not even as much as Nynaeve.

I'm sure that you've seen some of the various complaints about Faile and Perrin which basically can be summed up to
"its an abusive relationship"
Out of curiosity, how do you respond to those?
-
you should, they're really good
-
well, he first appeared as an assassin tasked with killing Lan, it got edited quickly, but it could've been interesting
-
well, no... but my point was that if Perrin wasn't around, Slayer still would've been a character, and might've still been a significant threat to Rand
-
actually, Slayer is originally introduced to be a Lan villain, what with also being Malkier and being tasked with killing him and Nynaeve

Perrin is supposed to be somewhat shorter than Rand. I don't have anything exact, but I would guess about half a head.
