I grew up with only the choice of BBC1 or ITV, so no that does not ring any bells. I did watch "Dogtanian and the Three Muskahounds..." hmm, that is not an easy one to do.

I've drawn a complete blank actually, the best I can do is "The Band of the Red Hand that Rocks the Cradle."

That's a good one! heh, I just grabbed my WoT glossary and look to find something I can play with.

so like in the glossary you see Stone of Tear. You can piggyback off of stone. or Tear.

    "The Family Stone of Tear"

The cold War was heating up with "the Great Hunt for the Red October".

I literally told Mother the Great Hunt for Red October after I posted this thread. I am so happy someone else's brain is on my wavelength +2 points! lol

Rand found himself in the “Crossroads of Twilight: New Moon”

Are you Team Rand or Team Perrin? lol

  3. As with my post ages ago in 2021 - If you read this post I hereby order you to post at least one reply. No hiding!

You manage to activate a Portal Stone and end up in a world when every title you knew from the Wheel of Time was involved in a mashup Before and After like on Jeopardy. What this means is that the first part of the title and second share the same word.

so if the first book ends in "World" then the second part begins with "World"

I shall begin, it is not the beginning. There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it is a beginning.

My favorite was seeing Rand take the top prize on "The Eye of the World Series of Poker"

It was Shohreh, although now I'm interested to see her as a villain. Cadsuane would have pretty much been Chrisjen Avasarala 2.0, so I can see why she would go for something different.

I'm in agreement with this. I don't see the role being played any different than Chrisjen or Commodore Paris in Star Trek. She's an outstanding actress but I feel like she ends up getting shoehorned into a very specific role. Seeing her as a villain would be a treat tho.

  5. To be honest I wish we would just make shows 2 hours long, save about 20 mins worth of ads and put them in the middle like an intermission at a play. Let ya get up, stretch your legs, get some poppy for the second half.

And do this for everything including the NFL. Ads only during the game intermissions between quarters. lol

  6. Curious, at which point is it defined that the One Power carries knowledge? If that were the case then the moment one accessed the power would they not just KNOW how to channel, and not just instinctual stuff like rand "Willing" things to happen - but the knowledge of weaves? If that is the case why are any weaves or talents lost? Why would anything need to be rediscovered? Just distill a venerable Aes Sedai's knowledge into the Wheel of Time version of a Pensieve and call it a day - boom...everyone be making Ter'Angreal in no time.

Additionally and related in some ways, few other channelers seem to have the same experience as Rand and LTT, which could be explained to the power in the SOUL that he is rebirthed from and not the power itself. He was unique in being GIVEN knowledge rather than having to be taught it in a traditional sense.

This is supported in some ways with Hawkwing: "I have fought by your side times beyond number, Lews Therin, and faced you as many more. The Wheel spins us out for its purposes, not ours, to serve the Pattern. I know you, if you do not know yourself. We will drive these invaders out for you."

So either he too had a similar experience with past knowledge as Rand, or his soul - once freed from its mortal coil - knows all the knowledge of his past. Either way it seems this knowledge is soulbound rather than power driven. Mat being able to bring forth memories from his blood implies as such as well.

So I am not of a mind that the Eye of the World in any way contained any knowledge of the One Power, Channeling, or any such things but was exactly as it was stated. A repository of untainted Saidin. To be used in a way that even those that created it could not comprehend. I do not believe they in any way intended for it to be used in the way Rand used it so any "knowledge" imparted to him if it even was possible would not have jived with his use. That is like someone writing a manual in Aramaic about technical support for a HP printer, and you are using the manual to diagnose problems with your dishwasher and only understand English.

  7. SO in all honesty I think we are all here because we love the stories and characters and nations in the world. I think going too far in either direction - post TG - pre EOTW, whilst opening up a bunch of windows - slams shut the era that we all know and kinda centered our online identities around.

But also make it a PSW, during another turning. So the names of people may differ - and the outcomes of the pattern of ages not so tightly hewn to the story we know.

I think the ideal period would be possibly after the establishment of the current nations. But back aways - possibly just after Avendoraldera was gifted to Cairhien in 509 NE. We could explore a world where they and the Aiel were on friendly terms. maybe they DON'T cut the tree down in our world in Laman's time...how might that change how the prophesy needs to be writ since the circumstances would not have come to pass.
