  1. Hello!! These chapters I found really great. It is interesting that Rand's illness is clearly a reaction to channelling and constantly forgot it. The dagger is pretty much a lodestone here, drawing the Darkfreinds......but there is a question I have that must be asked at the end of this re read.

  2. I remember reading Min's viewing Egwene in the GH as well. Interesting that I only now realised what it meant!! Good post again. Ishmael telling the boys about the Eye I always took to be the Creator's work, until I realised that it was ta veren drawing the information out of him. After all, he seemed peeved each time he did it.

  3. It is just Moiraine trying to keep Lan focused on his task as Warder. After all, if Plan is distracted tooo much, then the Shadow can easily do something. It also looks like she has an impression that Nynaeve and Lan's relationship is in the future, and wants that to occur later on. Great post again!!

  4. It always struck me that Perrin would expose his axe like that. It is almost as if he is considering actually joining the Way of the Leaf. Egwene here is to me just following the group she is with, in this case the Travelling People. We see her adopt many attitudes and beliefs from new encounters, while rejecting the past beliefs she learns from previous encounters. To me, she is actually dangerous, and foreshadows the risk of the meeting at Merrilor turning out differently without Moiraine's input due to this very nature.

  5. It is more than just Moraine just saying a figure of speech regarding Siuan. Moraine must have been aware of opposition to Siuan's reign. It would mean that if she was aware of that opposition then Tar Valon would not be safe for Rand or any of them; and Lan states this himself. She was clearly going to Siuan to get advice as to what to do. Until the messages she got from the boys. That need for finding out what to do later lead to Siuan's visit to Fal Dara and her meeting the three ta veren and the beginning of her downfall.

And the foreshadowing I noticed myself but did not understand it since the stories I read did not deal with body swaps unless it was through mad sorcerers or idiot health care characters trying to make their jobs easier. I only knew it was momentous and intriguing. And I agree on Robert Jordan being a genius author. The final book's outline was right in front of us the whole time, slowly being hinted at more and more as the series progressed. I also have a feeling that the nay sayers on the series have read the books only once, when this series requires constant re reads.

  6. But Ishmael knowing of the Ways........ it is possible before his imprisonment, but it is a scientific sort of question, and to me, that is Aginor's wheelhouse. If one of the Forsaken were involved in the Ways' creation, then it would be Aginor; or an unnamed Forsaken? One of the 12 killed off by the others during the War of the Shadow? Perhaps one of them were involved? It is a question that has never been posed and opens some interesting thoughts

  7. That last paragraph s quite intriguing. It pretty much means that the battle between Rand and the Dark One makes enormous sense, and is what I felt all along in the series. But imagine if the Dark One had come out that quickly!!!! Much more intriguing, I think!! But in saying that, love the series as it is. Fingers crossed it wins a Hugo!!

  8. Cool post !!! The acceptance of both Egwene and Rand's later channelling on Perrin's part is what makes me like Perrin a bit more than Mat. It always felt that Perrin was the bridge between both Rand and Mat. How many times have Rand and Mat go lamented after and during book for that they wished that Perron was still there. We watched them grow distant from each other. It strengthens my belief that Perrin was the one they were friends with more than each other.

  9. Awesome post Mashiara!! Your point about Tam and Rand's birth is what I was thinking three posts ago. I also noticed that it is Lan that describes the statistics of the Trolloc raid. It is not only Ishmael that mentions being able to find ta veren on that manner. Lanfear, Moghedien and Graendal mention this, while we also know of Arangar's envy of her inability to find them like this. Or rather, Graendal mentions how tough it is later on as the Pattern deteriorates further. Perhaps she could find taveren as well?

  10. Amazing post Mashiara! I agree on how much fun it is to read these earlier books. Also, I still think it was ta veren working in the wood with the trolloc march. Wouldn't the sensitivity appear after he first channelled? Don't male channellers begin tapping the One Power until they are Rand's age?

  11. It is because of the situation when he was born. How could Tam have been in that exact location around the mountain that is as big as Everest, in a bad blizzard without something pulling him, as a ta'veren is supposed to do? RJ's quote describes normal heros that have other purposes. But Rand is not a normal hero; his prurpose is only to fight the Dark One, and the Dark One alone.
