Valeri smiled at the child seated before her. "The One Power is what drives the Wheel of Time Amore. The Pattern is formed as the wheel turns, and our lives are laid out before us." Amore's eyes widened at that, "You will learn more in your lessons child, that is the most basic of explanations."

 

Amore nodded and looked thoughtful for a few moments before she spoke again, "I had a friend in Mayene, a young man.... I will never see him again, will I Aes Sedai?"

 

Amore's eyes threatened to tear up, Valeri stood and moved to the girl's side and patted her shoulder. "Probably no, child," she began, "To be Aes Sedai is to remain ageless while your friends and loved ones grow old and die. Perhaps you shall see him someday, perhaps not. I do not say this to be cruel Amore, it is but simple truth. My door will always be open to you if you need me during these times of adjustment."

 

Valeri took her place again and reached down to lift the Novice Book from her lower drawer, flipping through the book Valeri found the most recent entries. "Amore, can you tell me your full name and place of birth, and your current age also please."

 

Valeri took up her pen and entered the details in the prescribed sections as Amore spoke. Valeri finished the entry with the flourish of her own signature. Setting her pen down Valeri smiled at Amore and spoke the final words sealing her to the Tower forever, "Welcome to Tar Valon, Amore Le'Fay. Welcome to the White Tower, Novice Amore."

Just a quick note to let you know i am here now <3

My sincerest apologies to each and every one of you. I never expected my LOA/LOLA to be so complete.

 

I understand i have let you down, but i was unable to function IRL let alone online at DM.

 

Truth of the matter is that due to the 9th anniversary of my son's birth/death and the first anniversary of my mum's death i have had an emotional breakdown. It has taken time but i am doing really well now and able to return to DM. Thankfully i have had the support of my loved ones throughout this time, including some from DM.

 

I hope you will understand why i was away so long. I look forward to catching up with you all.

Valeri listened in silence as the lass seated before her spun out her tale. As her voice stilled Valeri spoke, "I am Valeri Kinaea, the Mistress of Novices here at the White Tower, you may address me as Valeri Sedai."

 

"You have had quite a difficult journey in your life haven't you child?" Valeri asked gently. "It is good you have been tested already, though i would expect you to never allow a lie to pass your lips again. From this day forward you speak no word that is not true."

 

Valeri warmed the teapot with a thread of fire as she stood and moved to the sideboard. Pouring two cups she placed one in front of Amore before re-taking her seat.

 

"Now lass, do you have any questions about the White Tower before we add your name to the Novice Book?"

Amadine arrived in the East Stables, both dismayed and annoyed that despite her trip to see Regalia, she was still the first to arrive. The head stableman hurried out of his office and bowed to her. As he straightened her spoke, "How may i serve you Amadine Sedai?"

"Good afternoon Byran. Can you bring Cuebiyar out and saddle him for me please." Ama replied.

 

Byran bowed again and set about putting his stableboys to work fetching Amadine's saddle and horse. A young lad of about ten lead the roan mare from her stable and she whinnied at the sight of Amadine. Ama rubbed her nose affectionately as the boy led her nearby.

 

In short order Cuebiyar was saddled and Amadine settled her saddlebags into place over the mare's rump. She pushed a coin into Byran and the lad's hand. "Thank you for your care and effort with Cuebiyar. There will be more Sister's along shortly."

 

The man and the boy nodded their thanks and understanding, then headed back to Byran's nook of an office. Amadine hitched the mare's reins to a nearby rail and moved to the door of the stable to watch for the other Sister's approach.

Aldwyn urged the horses to go faster. they were giving all they had but still Aldwyn pushed them harder. Ellery still moaned in pain on the wagon bed, she was hurt bad, but the moaning at least reassured Aldwyn that she was still alive. Hearing the beating of hooves behind him Aldwyn turned anxiously and sighed in relief when he saw Akairril closing quickly on Eltar's horse.

 

The Foregate came into view and as he passed the end row of houses Aldwyn slowed the horses to a trot. He took the most direct route he knew to the Healer's residence just outside the city gates. She also had a large stable alongside for the animals of her patients and customers. Aldwyn jumped down from the wagon and threw open the doors, then tugged on the bridle of the nearest horse and led them into the stable.

 

By the time Aldwyn had pulled the doors closed the Healer, Mistress Allaren, had come into the stable via the side door. "Aldwyn? What has you on edge so?"

"Mistress Allaren, it's Ellery. She's hurt real bad Mistress. Can you help her?"

 

"Ellery? Slight dark haired girl, and a thief besides?" she smiled, Mistress Allaren was well known to most of the thieves of the Foregate. "Bring her inside and we shall see what i can do for her."

 

Ellery moaned as Aldwyn gathered the tiny girl against his chest, "Shh Ellery, it will be okay." he whispered. Aldwyn followed Mistress Allaren into the house and set her own on the cot in the Healer's kitchen.

Valeri stood at the western window of her study watching the sun sink rapidly towards the horizon. Sipping her tea she sighed in pleasure, the Saldaean blends she favoured always reminded her of home. The sun was almost gone now, throwing futive rays of sunshine through the clouds, turning the hues of pink, orange and the purples of dusk. Soon she would retire to her quarters, it had been a long day.

 

She sipped her tea again and remembered Lisella. The promising Novice had been so excited about her testing when summoned in the wee hours of the morning, yet when the Ter'Angreal grew quiet the Novice had not returned. They had waited hours, in vain. Perhaps Lisella had found a more attractive future on the other side of the Ter'Angreal, well that was what she hoped anyway. "May the Creator shelter you Lisella." she murmured.

 

As the sun disappeared, it's last rays flickering over the mountains, there was a sharp knock at the door to her study. "Come" she said.

 

The door cracked open and a dark skinned lass of middle teenage years stepped through. Her hair was a multitude of beaded braids, the lass curtsied and bowed her head. When she stood she looked Valeri in the eye confidently and spoke with a lilting accent, “Good evening Aes Sedai, I am fortunate to be here, and am eager to begin, I am Amore Le’fay”

"Welcome Amore," Valerie replied with a smile. Perhaps this day was not all bad after all. Valeri set her empty teacup on the sideboard and moved towards her desk. "Won't you sit down?" she said indicating the chair placed before her desk.

 

The lass sat and smoothed her skirts over her knees. "Now Amore, perhaps you can tell me about yourself and how you have come to be at the White Tower?"

"Valeri Sedai, what is it like to be Aes Sedai? Are you glad you chose to become Aes Sedai? And is it scary to channel? Oh, and is it true that Aes Sedai could actually fly in the age of legends?"

 

Valeri smiled at the barrage of questions bubbling from Caillean's lips. "To be Aes Sedai is to be in control at all times child," Valeri replied mildly, "Yes i am glad i became Aes Sedai and not channelling is wonderful not scary. And apparently so, perhaps you shall find time someday to study the small collection of works in the futture the White Tower Library has on the Age of Legends."

 

Reaching down into the desk drawer Valeri withdrew the Book of Novices. The aged leather creaked as she open the large book to the latest entries. Smiling at Caillean she spoke, "Caillean, can you tell me your full name, place of birth and age."

 

Valeri entered the details as Caillean spoke. She finished the entry with the flourish of her own signature. Setting the pen down she looked up to Caillean, "Welcome to Tar Valon Caillean Windham, Welcome to the White Tower Novice Caillean."

 

Valeri fetched out a pair of Novice dresses, shifts and the other essentials a new Novice would need. She finished a small wooden token from a jar on her desk and handed it the lass seated before her. "Take this to the seamstresses and they will measure you and sew you further items as you require them."

 

"Now, is there anything further you'd like to know before i have someone show you to your new room?"

Welcome Phelix! to the world of reports :/

Valeri smiled at the newest Novice of the White Tower seated before her. Lifting the brass bell from her desk Valeri rang it soundlessly. The weave she had set on it would sound the toll of the bell in the ear of the closest Novice or Accepted to her study. Setting the bell back down, Valeri channeled the teapot hot with a small thread of fire and poured them both fresh cups.

 

"Someone will be along in the next few minutes to show you to the Novices Quarters and the rest of the White Tower, Alianor." Valeri said and then sipped her tea.

 

As she set the cup back down there came a scratching at the door and when it opened it revealed a fair haired Novice, "Yes, Valeri Sedai?" she enquired.

 

"Please take Alianor here to the Novice Quarters and see her settled into a room. Then show her the Dining Hall and the rest of the Tower." Valeri turned to Alianor, "And Alianor, my study door is always open if you should have need of me."

 

The pair of Novices curtsied before they left and Valeri smiled in satisfaction as she pushed the door closed with a thread of air.

1.1. Which Ajah do you aspire to join and why?

 

 

That's in an interesting question for Kate. She started out aspiring to the Green Ajah because that is how she was raised - to be a warrior. Her mother being a former warder and then Tower guard (as well as her father) she had the access to the training and it was all her mother really knew. But later in her career as an Accepted Kate ran into a situation that made her choose to aspire to the Yellow Ajah. She decided that it was best for her in the killing aspect to learn anything and everything about the body so that she could kill easily. That was her passion and it really had been since a young age, just was hidden.

Kate will be very young in the main time line as it already poses enough issues with other characters. I'm thinking maybe 10 years after being raised at the most. So that would be 39 approximately.

Yes Kate did but it was as a Novice and had no real impact on the choice of ajah. I'm not going to butcher Boobsy's character name off the top of my head but we RP'd breaking Kate's block.

 

 

1.4. Define freely what your character sees to be her Ajah's purpose? Does if differ from the norm?

 

 

Kate knows that the Ajah is there to heal. That is it's purpose, but Kate also knows that it knows alot about the body and how it works, that is her main reason for being Yellow. She unlike most yellows isn't interested in healing despite what her outer actions might say, she'd rather fake trying to heal someone just to learn more about their illness and their bodies.

 

 

1.5. What kind of a role would you like your character and you OOCly to have in your Ajah and in the White Tower?

 

 

Very small. I don't want any responsiblity. Kate isn't leader material, but she's not a follower either she'd rather work alone.

 

 

 

Part 2 - In Character Development

2.1. What kind of a woman was your character when she was enrolled as a novice and what kind of a woman is she now?

 

 

Kate was a girl when she enrolled. She'd been trained to be a warrior and her attitude was a bit gruff because she was use to being with boys as that was who she had for friends. Kate has learned to hide her true nature much better than she did when she was younger, she learned to control her antics so that she wouldn't get caught or found out. She is becoming darker with each passing delve into the human body and her own personal research. She is an evil person.

 

 

2.2. What have been the most important, defining events in her life and how have they changed her? Separate the events to life before the Tower, life as novice and life as Accepted. Who are the people that have affected her life the most as Novice and as Accepted and how have they done that?

 

 

The most defining event in Kate's life before the Tower was her mother's death. Kate struck out early because of her mothers death, she wanted to find her own path to greatness for the Great Lord.

 

The most defining moment in Kate's life as a Novice was breaking the block, it taught her how to surrender her control when necessary. She is still controlling but she has learned when to let it be.

 

The most defining moment in Kate's life as an Accepted was her transition to the Yellow Ajah. The bar fight that lead her to decide to be Yellow and to enhance the killing power of the One Power over her knowledge of stratgey and tactics.

 

 

2.3. What are your character's weaknesses? Strengths? What is her inner struggle? What is her philosophy of life?

 

 

Kate's weakness is her inablitly to connect to people. She is unable to make friends, she doesn't want to. Her strengths is her eagerness to learn. She wants to know everything and persues her goals to no other end. Kate struggles with proving herself to the Great Lord and her deceased mother while following her own path with in the Tower, a place her mother despised by the end of her life and those that were the cause of her death to begin with. Kate's only motive in life is to serve the Great Lord.

Part 3 - The Role of an Aes Sedai

3.1. What do you think the role of an Aes Sedai is ICly?

 

 

The role of an Aes Sedai was drilled into them since the beginning - it is to serve all. In Kate's mind it is a means to an end to serve the Great Lord.

 

 

3.2. What has been the greatest sacrifice your character has made to become an Aes Sedai?

 

 

Kate sacrificed her family for a chance to learn to channel. She was close to her brother Aiden and their common friend Taylor. They are all she has left of the close family they had at the Ranch, she let them go their own ways so that she could do what she wanted to do.

 

 

3.3. How is your character going to Serve All?

 

 

I doubt Kate will serve all in the common sense. She will serve the Great Lord in whatever purpose he has for her.

 

 

3.4. What would you like your character to achieve? What are her ambitions in life? What kind of RP plans do you have in mind for your Sister?

 

 

Kate only wishes to serve the Great Lord and make her mother proud. I'm not sure where she's going after joining the Black Ajah.

 

 

3.5. How does your character feel about Warders in general and of the whole bonding?

 

 

Kate believes it is necessary for Aes Sedai to have a warrior at her side. To take a quote from The Sword of Truth, the steal against the steal. While she can defend her self with her own training it's hard to do that while doing what you should be doing with the One Power.

Part 1 - Out of Character

1.1. Which Ajah do you aspire to join and why?

 

 

Leala is aspiring to a White. She loves to use her mind and lets logic rule her every thought. She uses this to her advantage in nearly every situation, including choosing her Ajah. Even in her composure, she is most like a White Sister, never letting emotion slip into her expressions nor do they cloud her thoughts.

Unfortunately, I have not roleplayed with any of my intended Ajah. It seems like a lot of the Whites are on LoA.

Leala sees the Whites as the Ajah of logic and philosophy. In many ways, it is very closely related to the Brown Ajah, she believes. Being that her most basic philosophy is the old adage "knowledge is power", she takes any knowledge she finds and uses it to her advantage, using her Light-given strength in logic, applying it as logic would dictate. Thus, she would take the knowledge that the Browns preserve so lovingly and apply the White's logic and philosophy to better the Tower.

 

 

1.5. What kind of a role would you like your character and you OOCly to have in your Ajah and in the White Tower?

 

 

While Leala is a White through and through, she also finds it logical to leave the Tower on occasion if need be. Either for research, to help another Sister, or simply if the White Tower bids she go on an excursion. Another philosophy of Leala's is that every experience is a good one. In the Tower, she would work closely with the Browns, applying logic to their knowledge and leading it in the right direction. This logical and impartial advice could be applied to any Ajah and any problem as well, spreading wherever the need takes it.

 

 

Part 2 - In Character Development

2.1. What kind of a woman was your character when she was enrolled as a novice and what kind of a woman is she now?

 

 

Leala was a special girl when she enrolled as a Novice. She believed that she knew exactly where she was going, and if she did not, she would find out soon enough. She trusted in the Tower and the Aes Sedai to help her along her own path that she saw for herself.

 

 

Leala now knows that while she may have a good handle on herself, others will always surprise her. There are things to be learned every day and it is one's reactions to them that count. She still trusts the Tower to know what is best, but also knows that it is up to her to make the best of it and now help the Tower in its mission within her own limits.

 

 

2.2. What have been the most important, defining events in her life and how have they changed her? Separate the events to life before the Tower, life as novice and life as Accepted. Who are the people that have affected her life the most as Novice and as Accepted and how have they done that?

 

 

Before she arrived at the Tower, the most important even in Leala's life was her testing. Before then, she was the second born child in a noble family and knew that if things did not change soon, she would be destined to live her life in a political marriage simply to suit her family's needs. When she was tested and it was found that she could learn to channel, she set out to learn anything she could of the White Tower before she arrived there. She still thanks the Light for that day and hopes to find her piece of the Pattern as the Wheel wills.

 

 

As a Novice, the most defining event for her was gaining her two roommates. Up until that point, she had only interacting with people on a very political level, representing her family in all her actions. Her roommates challenged her to offer them comfort, change her words according to their mood, and most important of all, be a friend.

 

 

As an Accepted, the largest event that happened was the news of the death of her father. Leala's father played an important role in her upbringing before she left for the Tower. He saw that her mother and brother were not willing to give emotional support in her future, and he was there to be a friend when she needed one. He was perhaps her first friend in life, and the news of his death while she was immersed in her studies and unable to say goodbye properly broke down her emotional barriers and caused her become a weeping, vulnerable, flawed girl. She had maintained her composure in all her years in the tower until that moment when she was alone and allowed to weep freely.

 

 

2.3. What are your character's weaknesses? Strengths? What is her inner struggle? What is her philosophy of life?

 

 

While Leala has had friends, she still has issues with trust. Even when with her father and her roommates, she was mostly closed and cold. She offered smiles to her students as an Accepted for encouragement, but would never allow herself to get too close to them.

 

 

Leala's strengths lie in using her mind. She can close out emotion and suppress unwanted memories for the sake of logic. While a Novice and Accepted, her favorite place was always the Library. There, she could read what she wanted, draw her own conclusions, and exercise her mind on whatever she wanted. She never lets her mind stay idle.

 

 

Her inner struggle lies again, with her issues in trust. She sees alliances being forged and bonds being made, and many different dealings in love and trust all around her, and wonders why she finds it so difficult to trust someone. She knows that a large part of it had to do with her upbringing in the Court of Caemlyn where she could not even trust the majority of her own family. And still, when she is faced with a potential alliance, she is reluctant to take the next step toward trust because she knows that everyone is flawed and human, including her.

 

 

Leala has many philosophies in life. Her most used philosophy is that "knowledge is power", as mentioned before. She applies it to a more specific philosophy that "knowledge enhances logic". This is why one of her favorite places is the Library of the White Tower. She cannot think of any one situation where the presence of knowledge has ever weakened her logical prowess.

 

 

2.4. What three words best describe your character's personality?

 

 

Cold. Logical. Careful.

 

 

Part 3 - The Role of an Aes Sedai

3.1. What do you think the role of an Aes Sedai is ICly?

 

 

The role of an Aes Sedai varies greatly on the Sister involved in the plot given her position in the Tower, her strength in the One Power, and her talents. to the base of it, though, an Aes Sedai is a Servant to All. She is there to serve the world and see to it that her all her actions benefit the greater good and the plight of the Tower.

 

3.2. What has been the greatest sacrifice your character has made to become an Aes Sedai?

 

 

Leala's greatest sacrifice was not being there for the death of her father. She knew that something like it would come up, and the possibility even presented itself in her Arches. However, when she receieved the news that her father had died, she knew that she had missed his burial, and even if she hadn't, she wouldn't have been able to attend anyway. She regretted not even knowing that he had fallen ill, and she regretted not being able to say goodbye or be there for his final moments. However, she takes solace in the fact that he loved her and knew that she had other obligations, and that he wanted her to be happy above all else.

 

3.3. How is your character going to Serve All?

 

 

Leala can work even more closely with the Browns when she is raised. She can apply her logic to their knowledge and help the world solve the mysteries of its history. She can also go to her White Sisters and apply a second pair of eyes if need be. While her role as a White stays mostly in the Tower, Leala sees no flaws in the reasoning that going out into the world to help where she is needed. In this, she can experience what she has learned first hand, and help her Sisters of different Ajahs.

 

3.4. What would you like your character to achieve? What are her ambitions in life? What kind of RP plans do you have in mind for your Sister?

 

 

Leala thrives in politics and the Game of Houses, and has always felt at home in the dealings of such with Aes Sedai. As a Sister, she could be a great asset to her Ajah, and I would like her to become a Sitter eventually. As a Sitter, she would be able to apply her two loves for the betterment of her Sisters and for the Tower. As a Dreamwalker, with the approval of her training, I would like her to do research in the World of the Dreaming not only for the Tower's sake, but for others that may have the Talent later on.

 

 

3.5. How does your character feel about Warders in general and of the whole bonding?

 

 

Leala finds Warders very practical. One cannot serve all without facing dangers, as the testing for the ring and the shawl dictate. And it is logical that a Sister will face dangers that her abilities in the One Power cannot protect her. She plans on bonding one day, but she will need to open up and trust her future Gaidin first.

Just as Valeri finished sorting the files into their correct drawers there was a polite knock at the door. She patted a stray hair back into place and called out "Come."

 

Valeri sat in her chair as the door pushed open to revealed Alina Sedai and a raven haired lass. "Sister, this is the girl I tested. Mylane, this is Valeri Sedai, she is the Mistress of Novices."

"Ah thank you for bringing her Alina." Valeri smiled at Mylane, to set her at ease, "Welcome Mylane, please take a seat."

 

"I shall leave her to you, Valeri Sedai." Alina replied and then swept gracefully from the study pulling the shut behind her.

 

The lass stood quietly chewing her lip, she appeared to be at the older end of the acceptable age group for Novices. She made no move to sit until Valeri prompted her again. Mylane sat in the chair and sat with her hands in her lap, her fingers nervously plucked at her skirts.

 

"So child, tell me about you and how you have come to be at the White Tower." Valeri channelled the teapot hot again with a small thread of fire. She poured two cups and wordlessly pushed one across the desk to Mylane as the girl began to speak.

The knock at the door came soon after Valeri set the bell back on her desk. "Come" she said.

 

The door pushed open to reveal Leala, "Good morning Leala" Valeri smiled at the blond Accepted.

 

Leala took in the girl sitting in the chair before Valeri's desk and immediately spoke, "Would you like me to escort a new Novice to her room, Valeri Sedai?"

 

"Yes please Leala. This is Aliena. Please show her to a room in the Novice Quarters and take her on a tour of the Tower." Valeri replied. Aliena stood and attempted a curtsey while holding her bundle of Novice whites.

 

The girls left and Valeri pushed the door closed with a soft flow of air and sat back in her chair.
