Moiraine is my favorite character. I loved how capable and serene she appeared throughout the series, and then seeing how desperate she was in New Spring, how her entire Aes Sedai career hadn't just been wandering around and visiting remote villages, she'd been trying to survive, and trusted almost no one.

I think the scene where she tells Rand she will kill them rather than let the Shadow get a hold of them is one of my favorites. She is just, dedicated.

Lan is cool too. He's solid. Very capable, but not in charge, and utterly willing to serve.

In book 2, in Shienar, when Nynaeve stood up for herself to Suian (then Amyrlin), and Lan was standing in the room. I can't remember exactly what the conversation was about, but Nynaeve felt the Amyrlin was talking down to her, and Nynaeve didn't like it one bit. She decided to show the Amyrlin that Two Rivers women have a VERY strong spine. Lan, impressed with the way Nynaeve handled herself, mutters only loud enough for Mynaeve to hear: "Tai'shar, Manatheren." To me, it said that he wanted Nynaeve to know that despite the fact that he's a warder, she is first on his list priorities, and to make that statement in front of the Amyrlin Seat no less, showed that he was completely (wonderfully) unapologetic about it.

My favorite Moiraine moment was her letter to Rand. The first time I read that part of Book 5, I was spellbound. I was so "in to" the book at that moment, that I could not sit down. I read that part pacing in my living room. But when Rand got to the part where Moiraine tells him "Be wary also of Master Jasin Natael," I felt a chill go down my spine. She knew all along who Natael really was, and despite what I'm certain was an INTENSE BURNING NEED to see Asmodean punished or even just KILLED for his crimes; despite all her training telling her that this Forsaken must be caught and taken to the Tower at all costs, she knew Rand needed a teacher, and she trusted him to handle Asmodean properly. It was the first time I think that it dawned on Rand that she had believed in him all along, and he'd been wrong about her. It changed Rand.

So that's it. Thanks for reading!

"Does your bond chafe after all these years?"...when Moiraine tears down his defenses, and then Lan rebuilds the walls. It gave a sense of humanity to both of them. Lan could fall in love, and Moiraine could grow jealous.

My favorite memory and it is just this a memory is just after Egwene is rescued from the Sanchin and Moraine and Lan and all of them are in the mountains in the woods camp out it is when Rand and the boys change it is the final time when all are together also. Moraine is sitting in her little hut just after they had been attacked by trollics and Rand had dissapeared, I think Perrin had come into the little hut shaken by all that happened as the wolf brothers had helped kill trollics that night and She and Lan were there and he kind of asked about himself as always is a slanted way.. So much happened to each person in that one place the Prophet was born, with his sick twisted belief in the Dragon, Min knew she was tied to Rand and yet went back to the White Tower, Rand driven by the power he thought would kill him and all he loved changed into the tortured person he thankfully is not... And Moraine and Lan, rocks of strength in the midst of a tempest...

Lan teaching Rand the sword on the Fal Dara tower, then teaching Rand how to respond to the Amyrlin Seat.

Two sides of a coin, the way Moraine and Lan are mentors to Rand through out.

Favorite memory is Lan and Rand's conversations at the beginning on The Great Hunt. This is where Lan tells Rand that Tam is his father because Tam raised him, that the sword Rand carries and power wrought, and he teaches Rand how to act before the Amyrlin Seat. There were several other things in those conversations, but those three things stand out for me.

The part when Moiraine actually bonds Lan in New Spring when he resigns himself to the fact that looking for the Dragon Reborn was a necessary thing...That was cool...She stands over him and he kneels to her and she places her hands on his head and bonds him...COOL!!

My favorite memory is when Moiraine realizes that Lan has been giving lessons to Rand on his own...I always pictured this large, stoic block of granite with a shrug and a sheepish grin on his face when she sees that he has been taught more than just the sword.

I loved that he was the one Warder who seemed as much of his own man as he was his Aes Sedai's...

My Favorite moment is when Moiraine talks to Lan about passing his bond to another sister. It comes across as a cold move and at the same time a very caring.

Wait is that my favorite?

My favorite moment is when Moraine tells Lan that he will be passed on to another Aes Sedai if she dies. The entire conversation giving hints of how they men is very nice. The Great Hunt.

I also really look forward to seeing Rand and Moraine meet again, I think Rand will be incredible happy!

My favorite memories of Moiraine are her interactions with Rand after she takes the oath of "submission" so that she may remain near him to advise. Took her down a peg or two...

Big fan of Lan sparring Rand on top of the tower in Shienar right before Siuan and her entourage arrive.

My favourite scene of Moiraine and Lan is, in The Great Hunt, when Moiraine is attacked by the Draghkar. It shows the true meaning of the wader bond with an Aes Sedai and still the love that is felt between the wader and the Aes Sedai beyond the bond. It is the epitome of the bond

My favorite Lan scene would be in TGH. When Rand is summoned by the Amyrlin, Lan preps him in a few borderlander ways in order to give Rand a chance in facing whatever comes. And then right before the door closes he whispers, "Tai'shar Manetheren!" A little confidence boost, a reminder of who Rand is and where comes from. That little bit goes a very long way for our favorite Dragon-to-be.

For Moiraine, the scene where she swears to Rand in the FoH will always hold a special place for me. It's right then that Rand sees that she is committed to helping him and not controlling him. From then on, they both begin to see each other as friends and not adversaries - and a little trust begins to flow in both directions. Too bad it would be a little too late.

I really enjoyed the scene when Moiraine saves Rand's life by attacking Lanfear and they both tumble through the doorway!

My favorite Lan and Moiraine moment is in TGH when Rand goes in to meetg the Amyrlin Seat.

In fact my favorite Lan/Moiraine moments center around Rand. I love the progression of indifference toward the Emond fielders to training Rand and falling in love with Nynaeve.

Lan's one of my favorite characters Taishar Malkier

I enjoyed when she tried to de-sword him in NS. . . probably the only time he was able to "lay hands" with out repercussions! Even though he ended up in the lake, it was still a good moment.

My favorite moment comes from New Spring, when Moiraine is playing tricks on Lan in the woods right after they meet for the first time. You don't see a lot of this type of interaction between them except for during this novel.

My favorite is Thom's POV, from early in Shadow Rising, when Moiraine coerces him to join Nynaeve and Elayne on their journey to Tanchico. "Thom Merrilyn, also known as the Grey Fox,..."

That exchange hinted so many things: his attraction, their loyalties, her connection to Laman Damodred, etc. It made me wonder (and still does) if Moiraine will ever acknowledge her connection to House Damodred. I wonder if she will run into Galad...

My favorite scene with Lan is when he first takes compassion on Rand in EotW - teaching Rand how to "not embarass" himself in front of the Amyrlin Seat.

My favorite scene with Moiraine is after she is rescued from the Aelfinn and Eelfinn - the whole of her interaction with Thom and how she still is strong as a person/character yet is now humble as well.

I think one of the most impressive moments for me was when Moiraine and Lan both come to Edmond's Field. At this point you get to see them with the untainted eyes for who they really are. I think as the book progress both Lan and Moiraine lose some of their grandeur. It is important for us to realize how regal Moiraine and Lan really are. Then you also get get a peak of how much people fear and Aes Sedai and her Warder. To me this helps create the grandeur of youth. We forget all to often what the world looks like from the eyes of the youth and by seeing Moiraine and Lan in this light it brings us back there through the hands of Robert Jordan.
