New Speculation over Wheel of Time Ending

Mashiara Sedai

In an interview with Brandon Sanderson about the recent release of Oathbringer, the third novel in his Stormlight Archive series, Brandon threw Wheel of Time fans a hinting tidbit:

Quote

Nathaniel Sager: What is the best cryptic statement you can come up with that will drive all your fans mad waiting to see what it means?

BS: Ooooh, ooooh. Best cryptic statement, huh? Let me see … That's a hard one because I have to really be careful what I say, because if I give too much away, the fans are really good at picking out things. I'm going to throw them a curveball, and it's going to be a Wheel of Time one. There are things about The Wheel of Time ending … there are secrets that fans have not yet discovered and which nobody has asked me about yet. Major things. Major, kind of world-shaking, Wheel of Time things that are foreshadowed in the last books that no one has yet figured out or asked me about. So, that'll drive them a little crazy.

This little statement blew the minds of many of us.  This fandom has been dedicated to answering all the questions regarding the ending of this series.  For Brandon to mention something that no one has even asked about seems so far fetched!  But here it is.  Now everyone has begun to speculate over what this missing question might be.

Could it possibly be about the Horn of Valere?  Maybe about Egwene and her Flame of Tar Valon counter to balefire?  Androl and his wonder gateways?  The True Power and its abilities now that the Dark One is sealed again?  I'd even suggest something about Nakomi, but I think we asked every question possible about her and her origins.

What else could it be?  Let us know what you think in the comments below!

That was asked and answered.  He told us that Harriett wasn't wanting that.  It is something about the ending of the WOT, which we all missed.  It might have been posted, but it was something he said he wasn't asked about.

My real dumb guess would be Artur Hawkwing being reborn as either Mat or Elayne's son.

She's Scrhoedinger's Forsaken, both alive and dead at the same time?

lol,

lanfear's soul is probably alive,i.e.moridin was wearing lanfear's

cour'souvra around his neck, post last battle and body swap,

left rand "wearing" moridin's body including lanfear's cour'souvra.

"kill you?she spat incredulously.kill you!i mean to have you,FOREVER".

well, she got her wish, her soul is now around rand's neck for iternity.

an irony of cosmic proportions, the pattern is probably

laughing his arse off.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that I dont understand for AMOL is this. In TWOT companion for the entry about Rand it says near the end that he could no longer channel saidin almost at the end of AMOL.

Also in AMOL the book itself, almost at the end it basically says that he willed the flame to light his pipe.

The thing I dont get is how come Rand can no longer channel saidin? I dont recall either one of the above mentioned books telling if he got gentled or severed. Yes, I know he switched bodies with Moridin, though as far as I know Moridin could channel saidin also.

So if BS, Harriet, or anyone could answer that question, that would be cool. Thanks and hoping for the best for everyone.

2nd possibility I can think of is that the Seanchan have possession of Moghedian.

We know it, but how many people have thought of the implications of it?  That the Seanchan now have access to somebody from the Age of Legends (however less than legendary that it was).

fair point, bear in mind that the seanchan have no clue their

captive is moghedien and she certainly is not going to reveal

her true identity, sooner than later she'll get a pet name like

nula,cutie-patootie or gollum....so no more moggy the spider lol.

I'm pretty sure they'll know fast enough.  Also, Moghedian seems to know something about the male a'dam.

I've thought about the implications of several things, but as such implications seem obvious post-WoT, I've never bothered asking.

So, as for secrets, I don't have a clue :p

That does bring up another interesting point.  Will those two switching bodies impact their next reincarnation (i.e. Ishmael initially being seen as the Dragon and Rand as Ishmael so to speak)?

souls are being reincarnated not bodies, post body swap,

rand's soul,the dragon's soul is in moridin's body,rand's

soul transmigrated to a different body, but it's the same

soul-body swap changes nothing.

Only thing i came up with was after Rand switched bodies with Moridin he could not channel no more not saidin or the true source but some how he imaged lighting his pipe and it lit up. What that means i dont know i believe the article  said brandon said the secret was in the last chapter.

This doesn't have to do with the last chapter, but did the Waygate in Caemlyn get closed after it fell? Or were the Ways left open? Maybe Black Wind got out? (I can't remember).

There was a part in aMoL when Rand is considering the possible worlds that him and the DO have been posing to each other, soon after Rand "lets go". Someone who has a physical copy please help me quote correctly, but there is a quick moment when Rand is holding the DO in his grip and realizes something along the lines of "The threat to the Pattern is not the Dark One, it never was". This turned my whole world upside down! I interpret this as Rand suddenly realizing that the DO (the essence of evil; not a being) is not something that can [should?] be "killed", but rather the underlying force of evil intention manifest in Creation, perhaps by the very free will of the Creator's inhabitants (human beings) that is inevitably balanced by the Dragon Reborn that helps us love again (from "zen" Rand's epiphany in GS).

Please correct me if my memory of this particular conversation is interpreted wrong. Otherwise, can someone please quote the actual paragraph that I am thinking about? My question then, would be, does aMoL depart an understanding of the "Dark One" to Rand's soul that would define the DO as a completely different "being" than we've been led to believe throughout the entire series?

when halima was trying to figure out if Cyndane was Lanfear, she said she couldn't be, becouse when a soul is reincarnated, its hability to channel wont change... so, in his next life rand is not going to be a channeler?
