Ahhh dammit. Um can you concisely explain the Calder/Zander thing you have going on? I keep seeing it in spurts but I don't have a reference point to figure out what's going on exactly.

Basically I don't understand Zander being so accepting of Calder ignoring my unexplained vote on him (Calder) while being all up in Celeste's grill about her supposedly not questioning me enough about my unexplained scum comment to her. To me Calder's lack of reaction is a bigger deal than Celeste's questioning and then choosing to move on from it. He's given an explanation that I still don't get, but I'm letting it rest...for now. I just think he's applying a double standard since a) he knows that Celeste and I have played together before and therefore have some kind of reference for determining how to go about reading each other (rightly or wrongly) and b) Calder has never played with me before, so really he doesn't have any frame of reference for interpreting my (seemingly) random vote on him and therefore I'd expect some questioning of Calder not questioning it.

 

I've been unable to follow Zander's responses this game, but do you think it has anything to do with personality? As in, Calder seemingly doesn't care about the vote, but Penny was rather reactive and garnered more attention. Calder isn't really the type to get all bothered about one vote in the first place, so I'm not sure I'm seeing it as a big deal, personally. A vote is a vote, but you probably had a reason for it, what was it?

 

Also do you think that Zander is defending Calder in some way? Do you think Calder is the type that needs defending?

I guess I'm just used to a quicker startup...and it makes me nervous when people post once then don't. I've seem a few games where scum has won by lurking and letting town pick off each other to the end. By the time town noticed it was too late to do anything about it.

This is a little extreme, we're on DM, we don't let lurkers go unnoticed, trust me. But we're also not going to lynch them d1 because that basically means d2 is d1 all over again. I generally just use pressure votes and start yelling at people to get them in the thread, tbh

IDK about personality. I don't know Calder's play, other than I've heard (rumours) that he is a strong player. So I'm dependent in part on other people to help me understand his play. And what I've gotten from the feedback is that it could go either way. So for now I'm gonna stick with my gut read that something is off until something better comes up.


It did feel to me as though Zander was first of all avoiding my questions to him about Calder, even after we had a playful exchange about the gentlemanliness of him asking me about the vote and Calder not asking me.

I believe I explained my vote on Calder way back - basically I don't see him as doing much of anything so far this game, and I expect more from a player who has been described to me as strong.

 

The problem with Calder is that he intentionally plays scummy and that skews reads on him. I kind of take a hands off approach when it comes to him because I know if I poke the bear directly I'm just going to become more confused and wrapped up in "wtf just happened?" So yeah, Calder is an experienced player but he can't be read traditionally.

 

I'm going to take a look at a Calder iso as soon as I get a chance and see what I can glean

@Liz About the lurker issue I don't think it really helps DM in the case that some of their quieter players are town a lot of the time

Yes, we have low volume posters. It really just comes down to the amount of content they're able to contribute in the posts that they DO make. If they're not making the cut, they get lunched.

Liz- was pretty conflicted on her during my catch up because I don't think I realized what to expect from her as a player... (@Celeste I still want you to talk to me about her??) but I'm okay giving her a townish lean pending some insight from Penny. Otherwise her tone is fine, if rather baiting imo, and she's aggressive on people giving her reads (uncomfortably so, for me :unsure:)

Does it really matter that much? Why the hell would I claim a scum kill? Just know that I'm telling the truth, I screwed up, let's move on.

It doesn't work like that. You've been pretty irrational most of this phase, and the only thing you have saving you is a claim.

 

You cant expect us to just trust the claim when your 'action' doesn't fit with a lot of what you've said this game.

I just want to know more about Liz, how she plays, etc since she's a new entity to me in this game atm. I'm confused by her and conflicted because what i'm reading from her is basically "I'm the only one that can read Celeste correctly, just believe me" yet I don't even know if I'm reading LIZ correctly. So, quite a bit conflicted.

 

 

Liz, if you flip the switch on the top left of the post and edit it from that, it's much easier and wont be confusing. ALSO, if everyone made an effort to trim their quotes to begin with, it wouldn't be a problem, just sayin

I don't think that's how you read Zander, tbh.

 

To some extent I want to say that Zander is scum and went after Celeste, but I don't see scum Zander continuing to push Celeste d1 and tunneling in on her when he's going up against Liza who is pronouncing her townie-ness and knows how Celeste plays better than Zander does. Seems like a battle Zander loses every time. I can see TOWN Zander tunneling in if he truly believes that Celeste is mafia, but then again I don't know if Liz mis reads Celeste in this instance, if that makes sense. In this scenario, that would make both Celeste and Zander town.

 

I think regardless that Celeste is town. I have good feels.

I believed she could be, yes. And as town I think that still makes Penny town. I don't see town fighting that hard to town clear another player if they don't believe they're right. Part of my problem with Liz was I that I felt she was manipulating the thread and it just felt slimy to me. I tried to get some insight on her playstyle and nobody would answer me reasonably, so I assumed it was a scum trait I guess. I really don't know what I was thinking

What do you mean "if you believe this"? If one person died last night, and that was the person that I killed, then the mafia targeted someone else. I don't see Liz as the type of person to protect herself, so I'm assuming she saved whoever the mafia shot. As for WHO they might have shot, I'm pretty sure my reads are so skewed right now I wouldn't even be able to name consensus town.

There's no doubt in my mind that Liz was convinced she was right about Penny. Anybody reading the thread should have came to that conclusion. But that doesn't mean she's right, and I don't see why you suddenly believe she must have been.

When someone comes across with a certain amount of conviction, they're either right, blowing smoke, or have TMI. It wasn't TMI, Liz seems solid enough in her reasoning not to be blowing smoke, so I would assume she was right. Coupled with a gut feeling that I have which says Penny is town, I'm going to town on her slot.

Then don't believe me, I really don't know what else to tell you. I'm trying my best not to use RL excuses for my behavior and I'm not going to AtE myself out of this lynch. I made a mistake and if that gets me mislynched, then so be it. But I figured I'd try and claim my role and it would derp clear me, as it was a stupid f***king decision, but apparently y'all don't believe that so. idk.

That underlined quote zander pulled doesn't make me think you would have ever considered her as a vig target. The only game I remember you being roled is star wars, where you copped Verb as maf N1. It made sense with theflow of the thread and your reads.

I've made mistakes in games, too. But I've also lied in games and done desperation moves to save my ass.

 

I'm looking at the evidence in the thread and trying to base it on the player I know you to be and the latter looks a hell of a lot more likely.

If I end up being wrong, then I'm wrong, but I'm not going to feel bad for a wrong conclusion in a situation im struggling to see as particularly plausible from town.
