Aslan slowly tread his way through the dark, it would still be a couple hours to dawn. Never the less the clues had to be placed now. Slowly positioning his horse against the rock then climbing up into the sadle, he dared not ride in the dark, but he needed something to stand on to reach things not to have to climb them himself. He placed the note on the high rock and placed a log with a flag ontop of it.

Well down again he slowly let the horse slip down into the water of the river and held on to the sadle as he swum over the river. He where wraped in the void to avoid feeling cold. He where up in the sadle again and fastened a red ribon in the tree, then looked ahead as far as he could marking out a tree then looked on how to get there from the ground, he sent a ligthbulb over and fastened it then treaded his path there.

From the ground the branches would hide the ribbon unless you knew where to look, and so he continued through the small cluster of trees. The student would have to climb each tree to see which tree to go to next, and such what direction to go to.

He was finaly out of the shady forest, and then could see the sun slowly start to cast ligth as dawn was coming. A note was already fastened to a tree back at the farm by a knife, a small pakage of food and a couple waterbotles a note saying that directions to their meetingplace could be found on the rock by the river.

The note there saying that the red ribons would need be followed. He mounted and rode ahead, a low hill could be seen to the left and atop it a single tree, the clue he had left with the last ribon said that under the root of the dead tree standing alone in the heigth would see to the next clue.

He had no worry that he would keep ahead, the rest of the quest had been placed out the last evening on the other side of the farm, and now he was purely doubeling back to keep on the tracks of the student for supervision in case something should happen.

Lucas was hardly a child and yet here it felt as if he were. Not because of the grueling days or the classes, but he felt as if he were a baby compared to so many of the other men here. It was hard to think he was man of 35 who was changing to a different career. He'd never thought that he could channel, at least learn how to, but the Great Lord saw it fit and so he followed in the path to his glory.

Lucas was a bit unsure of today's events, but it would hopefully be worth it all. A note told him he was to meet with another man and to follow the instructions given to him. Lucas sighed he hated scavenger hunts and went off in the direction of the river where he was told to go. The walk was a bit more than he'd hoped for and he was glad he was not told to run for surely he would be out of breathe.

A rock with a flag atop it was his objective. He'd have to climb it and it didn't look all that climbable, no visible hand holds and he could hardly channel a candle right now so that was no help either. Lucas tried several times to clambor atop the rock but slipped down. He eventually found his way up top but he'd wasted a good portion of his morning trying. If this was the course of his day he was going to be aweful sore by the end of it.

Lucas swam across the river and was dead cold by the time he reached the end of it. He was amazed at how he had survived the cold nearly leached out all his strength but he had to keep moving or he might die, Lucas wished he'd come better prepared.

Climbing trees was not his idea of fun, particularly after barely surviving the river. His limbs ached and his hands were scratched from all the tree climbing. But he eventually found his way to the lone tree standing by mid day. Lucas sat down for a bit to eat before he started looking for the note he was suppose to find. He was tired and wished for a nap, but it would be a long way off he knew that now.

Aslan sat amongst the trees on the back of his horse, he could see the man siting atop the hill, he had taken a break before searching for the note, Aslan had had no intention to crawl to deep under the roots so he had laid on his back and channeled the note into place. He knew the man would need to search some bellow there even before spoting the note and then be carefull not to get traped as he wrigled deep enough to reach out for it.

The heat of the working should help him face the new swim over the river thoug. The note would be sending him to the fundations of where the black tower was beeing built. There he would need to be moving around on stacks of material in search of the note without making a mess. That note would lead him to the pastures of the horses, new young horses had been bougth in and one in particular had a great fondness of playing with them. He would wait till one was almost able to grab hold of the grime and then bold just out of distance. The next clue was fastened in a litle container on that grime.

Aslan smiled and sipped his own water botle.

  • 2 months later...

Lucas finished his meal and started searching for the note he was to find. It took him nearly an hour to find the note lodge up in the roots of the tree farther then any man should be able to reach. He knew then that the one power had been used. His nails were full of dirt by the time he was out of the hole he'd had to dig. His clothes were covered in muck and grime, and his day was not nearly over yet.

The note sent him back to the farm, where the Black tower was being built. He sighed and returned to wench he came. The walk was alot farther this time around but the swim had been refreshing however messy his clothes now were, at least most of muck had washed away in the river. Lucas was thankful he didn't have to turn this whole thing, he was satisfied to walk, a quick walk but nothing overly strenuous or he'd tire himself out long before this thing was done.

There was no easy way to find the note he was to find next. He searched through the piles of materials climbing carefully over the tops of things until he finally found the note tucked away safely in a cinder block on the heights of the stacks of the blocks.

Lucas sat down with a sigh, his next one was to chase a horse. There was no way this was going to work and Lucas sat down with his waterskin and took a long swig of it. The pasture was not too far away and by the time he spotted the pony he needed dusk was nearing and Lucas only hoped that the day would end soon. Lucas started after the gelding with a gentle walk hoping to find it would not run, but he was wrong, he got with in a hands reach and it bolted away. Lucas tried to chase it but that didn't work either.

Then Lucas had a bright idea and found some sugar cubes in the stable and used bribery to get the horse to come to him instead. Lucas grabbed the reigns with his free hand then let the pony eat the cubes then reached for the container with his note. Lucas managed to grab the note before the pony bolted again. Lucas' first instinct was to hold on, it dragged him several feet before Lucas' mind released his hand hold on the reigns and he skid to a stop. Now he was not only covered in mud but manure. How lovely.

Aslan watched as the soldier finaly got hold of the pony, it was late but he would make it as long as he could crack the riddle on the note. A riddle who would take him rigth back to where he started to find a training scedule of laps and work outs to do each morning to get in bether shape, encuraging him to learn to get the stamina to get trough todays rigour in only 2/3 day by the time he was raised.

As well a note to meet at the inn, which was where Aslan was heading now to order two hot meals and wait for the new guy. The meal would be welcome and hopefully a chat as well.

Ariving at the inn he ordered two of the nights specials and a cag of beer, it would be good to relax, tomorow would come soon enough as it was.

Lucas read the note and was surprised to end up back where he started, at least it wasn't very far away. He walked back to find a list of names and times for various activities. He located his own name and made note of these things. Lucas wondered why physical activity was so important, he thought he might have to ask his so called trainer whom he'd never met yet.

Lucas went to the inn that was indicated, there wasn't much more that he could do, he was hungry, he didn't even know who he was looking for. Lucas wondered if he'd ever find out who was teaching him. Lucas found a man with two plates at a table alone. The man nodded his head and Lucas took it as an indication that this was his teacher.

Lucas gave a slight bow in respect to his teacher. "I'm Lucas Grey. It is a pleasure to meet you." He sat down hoping it wasn't too bold.

"Go ahead and eat."

Lucas smiled. "Thank you." Lucas took a bite of the meat on his plate, it was a bit too spicey for his liking but it was food none-the-less. In the silence that followed Lucas decided to break it. "How long have you been with the Tower?"

Aslan waited till the other had joined him before pouring himself some beer from the pitcher, and then dug into the food, spicy but then again he didnt mind. It ment he got his warmth back from beeing outdoor all day, and a long day as such which he now started to notice had affected him as well, thoug not as much as it once would.

"How long have you been with the Tower?"

Aslan sat back trying to think, "To be honest I cant say I am sure, the time sort of passed by. On bad days to long, on good days to short maybe, at least to earn the full degree." he sighed, he had hope of doing so soon thoug. "The foulness affects us all unfortunantly, and all my time is not mine, such i have a hard time keeping track of it, and in the end it doesnt mather. Studies and learning is what mathers here untill one been raised, and then responsibilities and work." At least that was the picture he sat back with, they trained to become weapons, and would die eventualy either from madness or in service. "One thing for sure the path leads only one way.."

He left the words hanging and then dug back into his food, untill that day he would do what he could best, and he would learn as much as he could about the weather.

Lucas sat and ate his meal quickly it was a different quizine than he preferred but it was tastey none the less. "May I inquire your name?"

"Aslan." It was a simple answer to a simple question.

It seemed the Lucas was full of questions. "So what's next? When do I get to learn how to channel?" He thought that was what they called it. He hadn't paid any attention in Tear to terminology, it didn't matter to him, but now it seemed the One Power was going to become part of his life. Lucas only hoped that the Great Lord will make his new talents useful. He doubted he'd be settling down with a family now that he was going to go mad.
