Initial (obviously weak) leans:

BFG: Town

Sili: Town

Thane: ?Town

Clov: ?Town

Tress: ?Mafia

Yates: ?Mafia

Cass: Mafia

Again, before you freak out, these are very initial, based largely on feel and some are likely to change.

My feelings on disclaimers aside...

Can you talk on the Cass read?  I'm taking the question marks on several of us to mean they're more iffy/in between, which suggests that Cass is a more confident read.  I think she's showing the most effort at really trying to understand where people are coming from and make sense of things.  That's incredibly hard to fake IMO.

What's off to you?

so, reading things, and here's my little whatnot:

I see people being concerned about me stating that i stated that i always think about what i type. It's true. I try not to get mislynched so i can actively find the wolves and win with town. I know that, during previous games, my gameplay was so scummy that it led to me being killed quite often. So, that's why i tend to pay more attention to what i actually type. Misinterpretation can get you killed, yo.

@BFG: the interaction between SIli and Clov was going, imo, a bit back and forth, both of them explaining (a bit too much to my liking) in their posts. Pretty sure one of them (perhaps both) is a wolf.

And, thanks for calling me scatter-brained... you're probably right

And BFG (and other players), i'm actually a bit sad that they locked the Spaceballs game for visitors. It's the best game i had as mafia.

From what i read, Sili and jmm feel most wolfy, clov went on the probably-town pile. Unsure about BFG, but i always have a hard time reading her. Tress, get well soon!

But I didn't??? Or I don't think I did :(

I'll admit that I only partially read the Spaceballs game, but you certainly started well from memory :) and thanks for the elaboration

yes

Yates said that how you approached BFG's questions made him reach his conclusion.  I don't have any real issue with how you handled her (though your explanation of changing jmm from town to mafia because you were preoccupied at first is pretty lolzy).  What caught my eye is how she began questioning you.

Sili, given 2 mafia who are you most likely to tinfoil on at the moment?

On the surface, that doesn't really seem like a significant strike - there's nothing wrong with getting somebody's stances in the thread.  But how would you normally say that?

"Who are you most suspicious of?"

"Who do you thin is the best lynch?"

"Who is your top scum candidate?"

So forth and so on.

Tinfoil has a certain connotation to it - it implies a townie starting to doubt either their own read or a clearing.  The mafia don't "tinfoil" - they already know what alignment each player is, so they can't become paranoid about it.  By asking who you're likely to tinfoil on, it suggests you ARE town and could end up mislynching, rather than her being unsure of you're alignment.

Sili had just town read everyone except Jmm so I knew his top mafia candidate, etc?.. I tend to get suspicious of all town lists or all mafia lists (although I've gone through games as town finding it hard to find mafia, although I generally acknowledge the issue). Given that he's been stating 2 mafia then he'd have to change his mind on at least one person. Tinfoil - a future change of opinion.

You played with Jmm last game? What's your opinion of him this game?

I'll let you know when I have one. I think he's going to be a hard read. Last game I thought he was scummy because he was "completely apathetic" and didn't "offer the thread an iota of actual game content to demonstrate he's read it in any detail." Plus, throughout the entire game he was never really "actively hunting for scum."

Yates, why are you linking everyone to Sili?

EVERYONE??? No, not everyone. I linked you to Sili and Cass to Sili. That's not everyone, that's two people. And I linked you because you were linked. I have a read on Cass that is separate from Sili so she has been successfully decoupled. The interaction between you two is my new shiny object, as per above.

Ok everyone you've given a read on.

Below are your quotes with reads, apologies if I missed one. You link me and Cass with Sili and state that you will be able to read Thane at some point. The problem I have is that if you're reading Sili strongly enough to use that as a basis for linking mafia suspects (even if you later move on) why aren't you voting? This lack of conviction from you is very disconcerting :/

But if your read on Cass is also tentative, why didn't you caveat it the same way and instead used the caveat that she would be town unless she's played some games as mafia?

Sili-Cass scum team? Is possible.

TBH though Sili, I find this question slightly odd coming from you...

You wilfing against me again?

Sili and Virgin scum in an awkward distancing/buddying Tango? Oh yeah. I can definitely see it.

Oh, Yates, i know you appreciate games we're both in, and you're quite capable in reading me, but don't try to buddy too hard, might be suspicious :wink:

You need to check out the beer thread.  I had a super rare Belgian beer the other night and thought of you...

My plan is to pocket you.  See how you respond.  Serious question; when is the last time I read you wrong?  I want to see that comfortable, free thinking, shoot from the hip Thane Town so I'm setting you up for it.  And if a "Be Nice" game isn't the proper format to get you to that place, I don't know what is.

Kay then. I think after this game I'll ask you how you play scum if you haven't randed it here.

It's a marked difference. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself but I will be on him like white on rice if I see one of two things that scream Thane-Scum...

I don't associate town Thane with 'guarded' play or words...

Welp. That's the one tell I was hinting at in my Thane post.

What do you make of the fact that Sili is talking to you as if he knows you are Town given your [and his] statement here???

<<<deleted>>>

His latest post:

Truth. I am very much taking that mindset, especially with Sili, since I tunneled him for a while last game

like, he knows i'm town, otherwise the matter of tunneling me when I'm scum wouldn't be significant to him. Why not tunnel me again, right?

Good point, and quoted again so he doesn't miss it.

I find it quite curious that Sili only has one vote given that so many people are finding him scummy, but I don't know what to make of it given the size of the game, I think I'll need to sleep on it.

Curious? Couple of thoughts here:

1. Just because Sili is holding a fork, it doesn't mean he stole the cake.

2. It's WAY early in the game.

3. Curse of the small game. I think people tend to be more cautious with votes in small games.

Now I have a Sili-BFG relationship to resolve...

Yates, why are you linking everyone to Sili?

Last page I declared bfg a scum lean in one of my opening posts and he never comments on it.

I actually did - indirectly. You claim she's a scum lean but you treat her as Town. Do you not recall this discussion?

For example; reconcile this series of posts for me:

BFG enters the game with a reads summary:

So I'll start with the easy stuff, Cass's paranoia seems newish town to me.

Clov's early involvement in the game is also townish from him, although it's been a while since I've seen him as mafia.

Presumably to BFG:

Good start. I concur.

Randomly:

Scum: Bfg, jmm, clov

Is there a reason you left out my question? It's hardly random?

Sili, given 2 mafia who are you most likely to tinfoil on at the moment?

I think jmm, bfg, or clov.

I could seperate my reads into -

Town: Cass, Yates, Tress, Thane

Scum: Bfg, jmm, clov

Yates is kind of town-telling, noticing the things he does, but it's premature. I'm scared of Thane, and I'll kick myself if I'm wrong.

I'm waiting for my scum list to town tell, then I'll start over by adjusting my expectations and rereading.

That would make sense, but it doesn't really seem to fit with how the thread was going IMO.  He DID just agree with you about Cass and me and had been addressing his concern with Jmm, but he really hadn't discussed the rest of the game.  His townread of you that he referenced in #108 had come Wednesday.  I don't recall him saying anything about Yates, Thane, or Tress recently enough to make me think they were really out of the null range for him.

So if my take on your question was wrong - and you really just wanted to know who he was most likely to flip on - then I'll concede I misinterpreted what I was asking.  But I'm not really sure what you hoped to gain when he still seemingly had a decent amount of question marks.

I dont think i would read me as a wolf if i knew me so i dont see what u see tress.

Current reads are

Yates town

Clov town

Cass town

Tress town

Bfg town

Jmm scum.

Expect me to itterate heavily in the background. Sometimes ppl find it fishy that i nudge and swap targets but i like to give reads breathing room. It also creates content. If something is important ill usually elaborate to persuade people

Thane is also town in the derp clear sort of way.

That's everyone.

Sili, given 2 mafia who are you most likely to tinfoil on at the moment?

Quoted to prove this came after :)

He hadn't addressed the rest of the game particularly, that was why I was asking who he'd change his mind on.

I don't really understand what you're asking here. Sili had just town read the whole game (except Jmm) without much discussion on some people. I was trying to get an indication of how strong his opinions were, where people were ranked, etc...

I guess I was being less liberal with a timeframe.  You asking him almost a day and a half later, and given how Sili seems to change reads frequently, I was thinking it would be much closer to your question.

Or I could learn the difference between AM and PM.

Lol, I woke up 'somewhat' late  yesterday morning and wasn't able to get on DM until late evening  that was the first time I'd seen his reads

All right.  Time stamps on your posts does back this up, so that makes a bit more sense.

I'm out for dinner now. Back in a couple of hours, probably.

How did you feel about Jmm's response to your tunneling question?
