About vote trains: actually they might be very informative in hybrid hammer. Everyone has to cast a real vote, no hiding behind consolidation and rush to get a successful lynch.

Deadline rush might be possible but in a different way.

I'd try and talk out anyone from pulling such a lame move regardless of the game, the timing and my alignment if that's what you mean.

How is that preachy?

Not sure what to do with Despo. I'd have to do some research on his scum meta and especially on how he acts when scum with high pressure.

I'm still totally down with lynching him but I don't mind going elsewhere.

Posted

People I won't lynch:

Tommy (cop claim)

Dice (town game)

Hally (town soft claim)

Lenlo (can be read later... I don't think on D1)

Krak (liked his posts)

Posted

Also I wouldn't wanna touch those who didn't even start playing yet as that's nor helpful and gives no info besides... But hey, come out and play.

*smiles encouragingly at Darthe, Kate's and BFG*

You brace and hold it all inside

It's more than you can stand

No one around even tries

Tries to understand

Don't turn away, don't turn away

Come out swinging

Come out alone

They're in your way

But as long as you're swinging

Strong then you'll get by

I know you would, which is why I asked

And it's preachy cause what Arsis is doing is obviously a dick move, so while you could be town genuinely pissed off at him, you also could be scum making a show about being pissed at him for pseudo town cred

And again, I know you'll respond to this by saying you would have reacted the same way regardless of alignment, which I actually agree with, I mostly wanted to see your reaction there

That last don't lynch list didn't look too bad tho, cept for Krak.

Would be willing to switch to Thane since his alignment might help me feel even better about Csarmi, and Thane def has some evidence to support him being scum and I also don't see many people willing to defend him even tho he's on a lot of people's radars... which isn't a good sign

Posted

so, Arsis is out, some lurkers posted and there's still no concensus on the lynch...

Des,for the record, i always have evidencesupporting me being scum, because i play in a scummy way. Alays have, always will. Now, when i flip town, i think Csarmi would be next lynch then?

i've been a bit busy yesterday (3.5 hour march in full medieval battlegear) and was reading through all the posts.

Not convinced about Lenlo being town.... and Darthe? doesn't do it for me.

Should i polish my swords once more Des, slowly?

i'll only say it once: you'd be making a mistake *nods*

and, just a question: i read something about a negative utility... would that only affect the one PR, or all? I'm thinking the latter...

Posted

Uch. Here I was, ready to vote Arsis, and he pulls this one.

MEH.

[unvote]

Just checking in and catching up right now. Will be back soon to give updated reads and place my vote before deadline.

If you're gonna soft claim/hint just freaking claim. Jesus Christ.

SOFTCLAIMING = THE DEVIL

If you hint, you only increase the chances at dying without getting protection if you ARE a town PR since cryptic vague hints will get mafia interested in killing you but Doc won't know if you're role is powerful enough to protect

For now tho I'm just gonna assume you're softclaiming and hinting at a PR instead of claiming cause you're on the QT trying to figure out which fake claim to go with

Posted

basically, i don't claim D1 because town is already in a bad situation with the COP and another possible PR outed; I possibly have a PR, or i might only hint at it to save my hide.

Another thing i've been thinking, and i'll do it out here now: If i seem scummy, then that's good for me; Scum will try to keep me around in hope that fellow townies kill me off, and they can always NK me later. The downside to that is not getting lynched, and as AJ has noticed, my trackrecord in that is not so great.

You can believe me, or not,  that's up to you. But i won't get into a less-than-24-hour-before-deadline town/town discussion with you. For now, in my head, the townies are Des, Tommy, AJ, dice, me, TG and even Arsis (who needs to be replaced). Leaves some people to figure out. As said, not that convinced about lenlo and darthe, and still trying to figure out the others.

I dunno about the soft claiming, really. All I know is discussing your tactic out in the open is counter productive.

Des: It's not black and white though. I mainly agree with you, however, soft claiming can be a good way for VTs to draw kills away from PRs.

So Thane's soft claim can go ahead and float around there, it can be either way, let's leave it to mafia to try and decipher it, yes?

I'm gonna go ahead and [v]Darthe[/v]. Even though he hasn't been on any of my lists. I haven't really paid any attention to him this game. Seeing his posts in succession (thnx Tommy) made it a pretty safe place to lynch today.

Hmm. While I disagree with you and this is still annoying to me, you sticking to your guns and not claiming while simultaneously deflecting me because you think I'm town does make me wanna reconsider. I think doing either as scum would be pretty dumb.

That can work very bad the other way too tho- a VT can hint or softclaim to try and draw a PR and end up drawing Doc protection away from a PR that ends up getting shot.

The fact is, scum start off every game with more info than town has. Then there's the fact that they are able to communicate and put their minds together in forming strategies. Because of that, they will ALWAYS have the upper hand when it comes down to figuring out who might be fake claiming as town, and who is softclaiming as a town PR.

Town PR's otoh, especially protective roles, are like little islands. They have no other info to go on, and no one else to strategize with besides themselves. They can only go on what they see in the thread and their own instinct/judgement.

So yeah, no matter how you slice it, soft claiming or hinting can easily lead to disaster for town. It's also a scummy move because soft claiming allows you to be vague enough to not get pinned down on a full claim which others could call you on or catch you in a lie in. Soft claiming is antitown, period.

Never saw Darthe's iso but I'll check it out.

5 posts. All fluff and cutesy responses to other people prodding him. Plus it's Darthe so if town he'd likely sabotage us anyways. In other words, sure, Darthe CFD a GO.

I wish I could create shorthand for the generic mafia meta arguments that occassionally happen so I didn't have to type them out every single time.

Someone mentions or does soft claiming: (#%)@_$!!!

People talk about lynching an inactive D1 cause YOLO: (@*^)%@0!!!! (doesn't apply to this particular situation btw cause DERFFFF)

Some silly blockheads start doing the role pm matching discussion/tactic: )*@%&_@(&)*^!^!!!!!!!!!

Keep in mind this is a hybrid hammer game so we don't need majority to achieve a lynch.

So what?  All that does is make train analysis more difficult since you don't actually need to hit majority.

This will challenge me since it is not a game mechanic I'm accustomed to. Allowing scum to simply not vote while town slowly kills itself off is just not sitting well with me at the moment.

Also getting modkilled intentionally is way against the spirit of the game. It's plain cheating and I'd put it level with, say, sneaking into dead threads.

DAAYUMM.
