Special Ability:   NillaMorph – If you lead a successful lynch, one non-hero who votes on the lynch will become permanently vanilla for the rest of the game.  Their alignment will not change.

Well, being as you got the item instead, then I would say that it's because I never actually visited Tommy.  Not that I knew that at the time.
