So I've offered to lynch myself first because of the hole the cory situation has left me in, the fact that my hydra buddy never showed up, and because I'm a Paranoid Gun Owner, so I'll just end up getting investigative roles killed if I'm left alive. I'm also hoping that people will listen to my town and scum reads when I flip town because as of now players I've tried appealing to (you called it buddying, apparently) have called me lock scum despite me offering both my claim and my life to save someone I am dead certain is a townie (RTE).

 

It's all become a bit ridiculous so I want to transfer my thoughts to you before I die. Let me know when you catch up.

 

 

Cory situation was bad for everyone.  Your claim is ish-tons (that is 2000 ish lbs) of WIFOM especially if you aren't the lynch for NAs.  I don't find RTE scummy so far, but my read doesn't necessarily reflect anything about your alignment.  But I'll be interested in your reads when I'm caught up.

I'm trying to get myself lynched over RTE. You looked at that situation and said "haha, you both want to die first, you're both scum!"

Never would a townie have that mindset, it's absolutely ridiculous to believe two scum would be competing to be the first to be lynched on D1.

 

I could just bus RTE, or he could bus me, there's no sense in ensuring both of us are on the chopping block. None. And it's not WIFOM; it's just fact.

 

So your pushing of this makes you either scum or the worst player I've ever seen (which, granted, is not out of your range. You tend to throw games by playing bad. Still love you though.)

So the situation with Darthe has escalated to ridiculous proportion; I had a town beat on him for quite some time, but it was when he started trying to hammer me down with every single post... and looking at how myself and RTE both wanted to die first and concluding that we're scum together, which never, ever happens... he crossed the boundaries of reasonable doubt and straight into scum territory. You can see how he's now buddying Des, which is something I've never seen him do as town. He's basically playing the same way I do as scum.

 

Namely:

 

1. Mock someone until they lose credit [Wombat is also doing this, e.g. "big bold colors"]

2. Stay ahead of them by picking apart every post they make so they can't gain ground

3. Act enthusiastic about a lynch to hide your scummy intent

4. Twist everything they do to be scummy when it's not

 

It's a damn shame that Des also exhibits most of these tells as a townie, but I think I'm unbiased enough to safely say he's town despite his horrid play.

 

So when I flip town, go back through the thread and look at how Darthe and Wombat both handled me. Wombat had a moment there where he was leaning town on me when I was at my peak of credibility, and then after I posted my list of town reads, he exploded on me, as did Darthe, and then Des followed suit. Why?

 

Because I was more right than not.

 

Go back and read Wombat's progression on me and his reasoning for voting for me the first and second times. There wasn't one. It was basically this: "you're good at scum, so you can't be trusted." That's all the reasoning he ever provided.

 

He even said this after the Tom/Cory argument:

 

 

Scum Tommy doesn't really care about pressure.  It's part of why he's so good at it.

Which would mean that I'm probably not scum here since I do care. He's not worried about such minor details as consistency, however.

When the Tom/Cory argument was going on, Darthe said this:

Which is taking advantage of an already bad situation. Since then he's been feigning enthusiasm for his ability to finally get me lynched as scum, but he's gone too far in his assault. His "Tom/RTE both wanting to die means they're scum/scum" stance is absolutely fake and nobody can think that way, seriously. It's too stupid.

 

So just take note of that... both Darthe and Wombat have been floating gleefully in the aftermath of the Cory situation and both have used fake reasoning to support their push on me.

That was the moment I realized you weren't town. Up until then I wanted to reason with you and show you why you were wrong about RTE and the reads you said that would be adjusted if RTE were town actually sounded good to me. But once you said this:

They seem to want it the other way so I am not giving that to them.

Never in the world would someone's reaction to two players competing to see which dies first be "you're both scum!"

Once again, Tommy is assuming that Darthe and Des (or is it Womby) are town with this statement.  Only mafia know for cereal who is town and who isn't town. 

 

Also, while I was having dinner, something occurred to me about Tommy's claim.

I am a PARANOID GUN OWNER. If a townie tries to investigate me, they will DIE. Given my current position in this game it is safer to just lynch me and confirm my role that way. My hope was to push a scum lynch on Dap and draw the night kill and take the offending scum with me, but it now seems that won't be possible thanks to tweedle darthe and tweedle des. Given that, I don't know what else to do but claim and kill myself.

 

Great job guys, seriously. Top tier playing all around.

 

I hope you at least take my reads into consideration. I believe my blue colored town leans were correct.

 

Everyone should consider this.  If you were given this role at the start of the game, would it have been pro-town to act like Tommy has been?  If I were a cop and Tommy avoided the D1 lynch, he would have been one of my prime cop targets.  With a role like this and being aligned town, I wouldn't be so gung-ho as normal.  I would have played a much more reserved hand.

 

Also, notice the wording of his role.  "If a townie tries to investigate me, they will DIE."   While the "granny" role (or PGO) is commonly a town role, its his wording that bothers me.  He specifically states that if a townie investigates him, not mafia targeting him.  If this is the case, this sounds very much like an anti-town role. 

 

Or better yet....BULLSHANKS.  I don't buy it.  I think he's reaching.  Now that he has thrown RTE under the bus after he preached his towniness, I think Tommy is the way to go.

I didn't really see an "appeal to emtion", just a mentioning of emotion. I'm sad that Tommy cleared everyone who has really posted in the game and just assumed all the inactives are scum. It's not appealing to any emotions, it's just me having emotions

 

Tommy: Sad by your list. Your re-read started so good, and I can get onboard with Mynd moving you into "slightly scum", but not sold on your list at all. Seemed like you cleared everyone who has been more or less active except Dap, and left the inactives for scum. Makes me think you are trying to save your own ass rather than get scum, which is... scummy.

 

This makes me slightly suspicious of Vos, but I think he's had good tone otherwise, and it's possible that DM townies just don't know what process of elimination is or how it works or can be used effectively. So I don't hate on him for disagreeing with me here, because he at least explained why he doesn't like it.

 

I suggest any townies who want to solve the game click back to my colored reads list and read the following several pages, there's good information there.

 

There's no reason for people to immediately jump on my list for being "garbage" unless I was just getting too close to a solve and they got scared by that (Darthe and Wombat).

I'm compiling a case on why Dap is outed scum. First I have to go to a picnic and then I'll continue when I get back.

 

But look at his first post alone and the timing of his "me too!" suspicion of RTE's first post and how he responds to RTE. It's extremely insincere, especially the "even if there's scum on your wagon you could still be scum" statement Dap made to RTE... which might spew Darthe as scum since he was on the wagon at the time.

While I'm gone, take another look at Dap's entrance. Read from RTE's OP in #75 and the back and forth between RTE and Dap, and read how Wombat calls Dap and Darthe town and Cory scum. Read through page 7 at least.

I want to say Vos is getting taken advantage of and just had bad reads this game because I think his tone is pure, but if you run out of scum candidates and he's alive in late game, take another look since he's often in sync with the scum.

And before I go, here's an important Tommy Teaching Point:

 

Note how as I bring up in-thread events and facts, Darthe counters me every time with generalized statements like "you've been spamming" or "you're outed scum I'll take you on all day!" rather than countering my points.

 

That's called "scum speak" and is used as a lazy way of arguing based on AtE rather than having to use facts. Scum have a hard time remembering everything that happened so it's usually to their benefit to reduce points down to broad strokes and push them again and again so they don't have to back their arguments up with quotes or evidence.

 

Anyway, something to be aware of in the next game.

This makes no sense.  You throw aspersion on Darthe and Wombat for reacting to a list where you have them both as town reads. Then you say the reason for their reaction is because you are too close to solving the game.  If they were town they would have no idea.  If they weren't, then you wouldn't be close.
