But why did he insist on Dice claiming even though he asked Des if he really wanted his result?

Once Dice asked Des if he REALLY wanted that result there wasn't really anywhere else for Des to go. By asking there was the chance Dice would just reveal his target.

I could have backed off when Dice asked me if I really wanted him to reveal his target, which would have been incredibly stupid. Would have made me look ridiculously sketchy, and I would prob have been forced to claim anyways, and scum wouldve figured out that I targeted him.

I really thought my hints were subtle enough for scum but obvious enough for Dice to know I just wanted his target.

Anyways BFG, wanna answer my question?

A scum watcher would watch themselves for that very reason, Des. To find town PRs.

Obviously I know a scum Watcher might watch themselves - the question was obviously under the guise that he would present himself as town. Think of it like "Why would you, as town, watch yourself?"

Incidentally, what do you think bout all this Leelou? Think Dice is a scum Watcher? Think Tina is onto something, that me and Dice cleared each other cause we wanted to be the most obvious scumbuddies ever? What do you think about my Thane case?

Out of the two, gut reaction says if one of you is scum, it would be Dice considering his thread play and target. I don't think you are both scum, but I'm not sure if I see both tracker and watcher as town in a standard game. I have to read your thane case with more detail, I just woke up because it got too warm in my room, so let me do that and I'll comment in a couple mins.

Speaking of my Thane case, two more things I forgot to cover that I wanted to:

One is small and kind of a stretch, but even moar applicable with two townie deaths. Thane at one point while saying for like the 7th time that he would develop reads as the game progressed, said he wanted to wait till D2 to see the night kill(s). He phrased it like that, with the s in parentheses. Coulda been a TMI slip, and that Thane knew there would be multiple NK's, which would mean that the second killer would be a scum Vig instead of a town one.

The other thing is if you look at his posts in aggregate, Thane had a ton of spam/fluff posts early on, in fact it took him ~23 posts before he made anything even resembling a gameplay post, and had a bunch of spam posts during the night, but during the serious talk discussions during the day he wasn't nearly as active and was always excusing himself for not being around or having better reads. Again, that is an extremely strong scumtell, especially for newer players. Indicates someone that wants to pad their post count when they can, but doesn't know how to post often while serious talk is going on without looking conspicuous.

I've actually seen a number of games recently with a Tracker and Watcher, or Watcher and Voyeur or something. Trend lately is having more than one of the ... we need to come up with a name for that group of roles (Watcher, Tracker, Follower, Voyeur) in the same game.

Dunno why one of Dice and me have to be scum at all. /shrug

I like the case on Thane, and it did feel like every vote had to be coaxed out of him. Like he was afraid to take a stance.

I'd disagree (obviously)

You mafia hunt regardless of whether you're town or mafia and the differences are quite subtle.

Given that I doubt anyone's going to stand up and say 'I'm mafia, discuss' then I'm looking for things I agree and disagree with. When I see something I disagree with I'm going to call it out, the points that I've made are in thread and imo accurate. Leelou's early game interaction with Verb quantifiable so, and the early game discussion about PRs objectionably so. I also said I thought the rest of your case wasn't bad. The Clov vote debate would have ended much earlier if you'd just said the hypocritical thing when I first brought it up instead of trying to pass it off as a catch-up thing. So no, I'm not bringing up contradictions I think I've found, I'm bringing up contradictions that are in thread and trying to determine if I think the reason behind the contradictions are scummy or not.

I'm also following up on the points I make. Maybe I define sniper differently to you.

However, I think the fact that Dice revealed his result makes me believe he is not scum. If he was scum, why would he announce Des as PR and instead he could have taken him out in the night.

He was asked by the person that visited him for results.

Awesome posting there

If it says saving post for a long time, it's best to post once, go do something else and it will post in a few mins.

Thing is tho you've kinda been focusing solely on me for good stretches of the game- I don't see you pointing out these types of things for other people ITT

Why the inordinate amount of attention on me, when you weren't actively pushing my lynch really at any time this game?

there's inherent lulz already in the idea that the watcher saw the tracker track the watcher to the watcher

Srsly tho, in search of more commentary on my Thane case. He is das scum.

That was a pretty solid case indeed. ISOd him myself, and what has already been WOTed out, combined with the incredible strange self read ("Not his really usual self this game. Stated that RL got him busy, which i can get. He hates to fakeclaim, so he's town for me"), the fact that he wanted dice to have an opportunity to clear himself, then changed his mind and voted him no more than an hour later and the fact that he seems extremely concerned about who we can reach a consensus for before placing his vote looks pretty bad indeed.

Generally, there was absolutely nothing in the ISO to redeem him as town.

I don't think I have, (except arguably Friday) I have at various times questioned Leelou, Dice, Hallia, Thane, Pral and yourself. I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to explain my points on you (and Pral on Saturday) since various people are misunderstanding them and when you responded it became clear that you were missing the point I was trying to make. Since that then means you're answering or responding to a point I didn't make I'm left trying to explain the original point again.

Friday all I had time for was responding to Nyn and trying to explain my points on you. Formatting/deleting sections of multiquote, to try to make the narrative clear and stick to the quote limit, takes me a long time.

I'm including the list of possible roles in the game here, cause mafia scum wiki seems to be down. I'll also update the opening post.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7zr1avbeihoqxnh/ListOfRoles.txt

Bodyguard - dies in place of its target

Bulletproof - prevents its target from being NK'd (usually 1x)

Cop - gets the alignment of its target (town, not town)

Doctor - prevents its target from a NK (may or may not self-protect)

Doublevoter - has two votes

Godfather - mafia, views as "town" to cop

Gunsmith - checks if its target has a gun (people with a NK and Gunsmith are considered to have a gun)

Hider - selects a player to hide behind every night, can't be targeted directly, gets affected by any action on its target instead (dies if hiding behind "not town")

Innocent Child - is confirmed town from game start

Jack-of-all-trades - has several different 1-shot actions (most common variants have 3-4 actions - investigative, killing, protective, blocking)

Jailkeeper - its target can't be killed + target is roleblocked

Lover - 2+ players, if any of them dies, all of them does (may or may not have QT to communicate, may or may not share alignment)

Mason - 2+ players, they have a QT to communicate, share alignment (usually town)

Miller - town, views as mafia

Neighbor - 2+ players, they have a Qt to communicate, may or ma ynot share alignment

Role Cop - learns the target's role, but not the alignment

Roleblocker - the actions of its target will fail

Serial Killer - 3rd party, have a factional NK, they usually have to kill everyone else to win, sometimes they get bonuses such as lynchproof, bulletproof, investigation immunity

Survivor - 3rd party, may win with either mafia or town, sometimes they get bonuses such as lynchproof, bulletproof, investigation immunity

Tracker - learns the target of its target

Vigilante - town only, has a NK

Watcher - learns who visited its target

My dropbox link will also contain some extra information on the roles (what they do).

I want to go back over some of my reads, but Thane's voting did not look good yesterday. I feel comfortable voting him for now and I'll be able to dig through the thread some tomorrow.
