DPR Mafia - The Dark Monocle - Game Thread

@Ape--BECAUSE I'M TOWN YOU LUGNUT! I'd say I'm valuable, but my value is mostly in being immune to mafia recruitment/NK, and my ability to kill anyone...which is not always great because I don't actually know who to kill, anymore, and I've hit more town than anything else.

 

I guess it's nice that I can act as a sort of medium between the game thread and the dead Chemists. Other than that.... *shrugs*

 

But why would you want to throw away a powerful town role? Afraid of what I might see in your QT? Your reckless attitude toward offing people at this point in the game is a bit worrisome to me, monsieur.

 

 

I'm not going to have a conversation with you where half of what is said is in my QT, and your responses are in the game thread. Its stupid. I asked my team a question because I don't know all of the info we have, like all the things you've revealed. However, I asked them. Not you. When I have a question for you, I will ask you in the game thread so that everyone can see the response as informational.

 

I'm obviously behind on the game, but based on this response - you've claimed to be bulletproof, conversion proof capable of reading the QTs, and capable of night killing?

 

Additionally, my attitude is NOT reckless. Its a numbers game, I suggested that we kill anyone not in our guild. I've got 4 people in my guild and I trust that my guild is all town, so in killing ONLY players outside my guild - I'm suggesting we shoot/lynch from a pool of 10, not a pool of the whole 14 players left.

 

This is sensible and pragmatic. Thanks for puking it up onto the game thread though, its an extremely pro-town thing to do.

 

The fact that the simple question "Why are we keeping Meesh alive by the way?" that I posted on our QT prompted you to get this defensive, and start suggesting I should be suspected is VERY disconcerting.

1) Fair enough. I thought, since you were asking the question in the first place, that you were caught up. Also, I didn't know it was an issue for me to respond to things you say on the QT, period. I'll respect your wishes as much as I can, but be forewarned, I don't trust ANYONE who isn't dead right now, so when I see something questionable, I'm going to make note of it.

I can't respond to you in the QT, otherwise I wouldn't post it here, though, FYI. I'm not trying to make it into a huge "everyone get involved" thing. It's the only way I can comment. And I do have a lot to say, when I have anything to say at all, so you should probably get used to the idea that I'm going to be responding to QTs here.

 

2) No, I'm claiming to be undetectable to all actions. And yes, I have a kill. And yes, I can read all the QTs.

 

3) Firstly, again with the whole "I didn't mean it to be a public deal" thing. Who's the one who actually mentioned your plan to try to kill everyone not in your guild? That wasn't me. You said it, just now. Anyone else reading it would assume that I was reacting only to your suggestion to off me, which obviously was a misinterpretation on my part, but regardless, I'm not puking anything up. Just responding with no specifics given. So you have only yourself to blame for your info being here on thread. Tell me where in my post I outlined your plan.

 

4) I "got all defensive" because, for the final time, I took it as more of a rhetorical question. It looked to me like "why hasn't anyone killed Meesh, she should die" type of statement. Yeah, I'm going to react to that.

I don't care if you're talking game talk. That wasn't the issue. The issue was the "you guys are stupid" attitude. I'm sure it helps us all for someone to say "I can't believe you did that," when really, if we knew what we were doing, we wouldn't have done it. Might as well not say anything at all.

 

 

More over-defensiveness. I love that you can't be impacted by ANY night actions too... you have the greatest mafia role ever conceived apparently. Makes perfect sense to just let you roll to end game.

 

I'll respond to #3 because now you are twisting things. Let's get something clear, I asked why you are alive - you could have simply stated what you claimed and let me do the math. Instead you re-claimed, and then cast FOS at me by cryptically stating that I want to kill people recklessly in this thread. Obviously an indicator to others that you read something from my QT, but without being detailed. Which is extremely shady business.

 

So, because you were selling a bad bill of goods on me I was happy to prove I made no such reckless comment (and that's all it was was a comment, not a "plan" as you are labeling it now). I'm HAPPY to divulge it here. My comment about you puking things up on the game thread was more geared toward you fabricating an argument that would require me to divulge MORE information from my QT to come to my own defense.

 

There's really nothing pro-town at all about what you are doing. Nothing. If you are town, you should just shut up cause you are playing like an idiot.

 

One last time... I suggested killing any of the people outside my guild. Novel concept. I call that pragmatic and I've explained why its pragmatic in the QT and here now. You sell my pragmatic comment into the game thread as recklessness. Now you want to bicker, which can only help scum.

Well the obvious answer there is that it was a dumb, very dumb to decision to lynch a claimed doc. And I can say what I want to as long as I am following the rules. Which I am. SO there.

Song, FYI, we already had two docs dead. HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THERE WAS THREE?! Then, you add in the fact that she claimed FOR NO REASON, except to claim, and state that she didn't protect Ithi, the confirmed LD. I mean, really, how were we supposed to believe her?

@Ape, sure, if you wanna call it bickering, when I was just explaining that I misunderstood what you said, whatever.

 

I was in a hurry cos I had to go deliver my brother's paper route so I called it "plan" because I was hastily summarizing. It's already there in the thread; people are (I hope) smart enough not to blindly follow everything I say and think for themselves, so they hopefully won't call it a plan if that's not what it is, just because I call it that in one post.

 

Re: my role--well, I've been saying it from the start. Mirrors don't really get affected by NAs, do they? It's not inconceivable. I'm not a tree stump; I can still die. My kill has a downside because, like I said, I have a high chance of killing town. And if it's a doc who's self-protecting, they'll still die, which is what happened N1 (I think Aemon was protecting her, too). Which is a major balance to the kill. Either it's PROBABLY helping mafia by killing town, or it's not being used because I have common sense and am holstering (apparently that particular balance doesn't exist because I don't have any common sense).

 

@Song--I didn't say you COULDN'T say it. I said you might as well not, if that's all you're going to say. Big difference.

The Dark Monocle sits in a darkened study, contemplating the evolution of the plan so far, and is pleased.

"There are fewer of them now...I must be careful. No movement to give me away..."

The Dark Monocle smiles, and slowly winds the gears of the last mechanical spider. A collection of them wait, ready to move forth to do the bidding of their master. And neither the victim of their terrible poison (the Chemists being dead, no antidote will be found in time to save anyone), nor anyone who takes the time to investigate will be any closer to guessing the fiend's true identity.

A press of a button, and hundreds of tiny brass legs begin to click across the floor.

Their target sits on the other side of the wall, but has no idea what is coming.

The Monocle wonders when they will first hear the tell-tale clicks, and when they will realize what danger they are truly in. A sinister laugh whispers in the dark. This is becoming more and more amusing with every passing day...

An assassin levels their weapon at a man hurriedly walking down the way. The multi ringed barrel appears steady in the cross-hairs. The assassin takes in a breath, lets half of it out, and gently squeezes the trigger. The report from the shot echoes throughout the city. The shot takes the man dead in the chest, pitching him down into the concrete.

Satisfied, the assassin moves to make a quiet escape. Coughing turns theirhead, and they see the man standing, gasping for air, and pulling a brass plate out from under his jacket. The man curses, and stumbles away out of breath, but little worse for the wear.

The last bolts of electricity needed to bring the automaton to life sizzle through its body. The robot rises, a perfect replica of the body it has taken after. The poor soul it replaces lay in a heap on the floor.

Tiny clicking noises seems odd to Song as she dozes fitfully in a rocking chair. She is weary, as are most of the denizens of New Coronado, but the burn of the first bite brings her into instant awareness. She starts, shocked to see a myriad of spiders climbing the inside and outside of her skirts. She leaps up. swatting at the golden spiders, but feeling multiple bites take her on the legs. The poison burns, and she is loosing feeling in her limbs now.

She moves to sweep another spider from her, but loses her balance and falls, spilling across the floor. She struggles to rise, but it is no use and the sight of even more of the tiny beasts crawling toward her is more than she can take...

SONG, TOWN COP, HAS BEEN EATEN TO DEATH BY SPIDERS. HEH

I'm playing the game based on the statements you MADE, not the meaning you are now telling us that the statements you made really had.

 

I like how it has now become my fault that you said things to make me sound suspicious based on my QT, then when I make clear what was really said, you back-pedal and redefine your comments. Your willingness to bend the truth, and reluctance to own those comments is very disconcerting, as I said previously.

 

I'm also playing the game pragmatically, as I've stated. I don't see ANY way that DPR created a town role with as much power as you claim to have. It would be VERY difficult to balance that in any scum/cult team.
