There is no mention of Bashere, nor 100 Saldaean Light Cavalry. While Logain would be the main sensation, Rosara Medrano wouldn't fail to report the presence of Bashere, since she would know that the rest of her report would make Samitsu ready to chew nails... or the hind parts of any sister who gave her cause to be displeased. Therefore, Bashere wasn't with Logain when he arrived in Cairhien.

 

Whatever agreement they reached to travel to Rand together was only made after Bashere arrived in Cairhien independently.

The majority Aes Sedai concetrate their thoughts and efforts only on users of the power. You notice, in the quote which you thoughtfully provided, that Rosara assumes it is a party of "sisters", and that the only other person she mentions is someone known to be a channeler. The fact that she did not report Bashere's presence is nothing more than an indication that she didn't get close enough or wait around to see everything. She "rode like a madwoman" to reach the Palace ahead of them ... not the best way to make careful observations. The fact that you cling to that as "evidence" of your theory shows just how thin it is. Rosara just saw some sisters, recognized Logain, probably gasped, then high-tailed it to the Palace without waiting to see who or what else was with them. Its not even close to evidence that Bashere arrived separately.

This is really an interesting thread.

 

One question was not addressed throughout which leaves me confused?

What do Logain and Bashere have in common?

 

Both want Taim dead. For different reasons but they both want Taim removed.

 

Bashere was sent to Andor speceifically to bring Taim's head back to Tenobia for ravishing Saaldea. Logain is convinced that Taim is a darkfriend conspiring secretly to build a Balck Tower within the Balck Tower. From the Prologue to CoT we know that they had met the day recently. Probably Logain inquiring as to the whereabouts of DR. Being cautious Bashere probably probed and ]found out that Logain was trying to reach Rand to warn him about Taim.

 

They formed a coalition hoping the two of them coming from different directions could force Rand to action against Taim. This would ingratiate Bashere in Tenobia's eyes if he handed her Taim's head. Logain is ready to act and take Taim out.

Added in with all of the other information we have that is a major part of the reason I believe readers are supposed to assume that Logain is the 'mystery man' it just all clicks together to make the most sense. Looks like the 'new mystery' has been solved.
