I´m fortunate to have some really good friends. If I need help they will be there for me. Most of my friends don´t live in my town but we try to see each other as often as possible. One of my best friends is very good at telling me want I need to hear and not always what I want to hear. It gets so frustrated sometimes but it´s good for me.

good friends have been better than family in my life. i don't know if i want them tlling me the truth though... they figure i'll get it on my own soon enough. they pick up the pieces when i do. or give do me the kindness of ignoring my insanity.you're very strong if you can handle the truth :myrddraal: .

The truth often sucks, but I think sometimes you need to hear it. I would rather be told, I think.

Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear about your family. I'm extremely close with mine (go figure, I was a wretched child/sister before I moved out )

I don't know what I'd do without them. I wish I could share....

my family... loves one another other... but there's a lot of history, and shared bad memories, and a lot of no talk rules. while we can provide some emotional support at times, we don't have much to give one another in any practical sense.

they would not drive the bronco for me.

but, you know, we're doing better than we were. we only have what we have to give, and that's ok.

That's good to hear.

I live on the property I'm working on and I eat meals with and have a lot of after hours interaction with my boss, his wife and, at times, their sons. They are always fighting and arguing and there is just no LOVE there, at all. It's really quite depressing to be around all the time. So I end up dwelling on the unpleasantness of that a lot (no doubt due to being separated from my close, loving family) and therefore had awful visions of you being in the same boat.

I am very very glad to hear that that is not the case.

i live far enough away to avoid it.

i visited once, and unthinkingly suggested we watch the movie parenthood.

5 minutes in, my sister and my stepdad had burst into tears and run to their rooms, slamming the doors andnot coming out till the next day. my mom started drinking and kept me up all night tripping down memory lane, apologizing for things iw as never mad about, and convincing herself i'd planned the whole thing to make everyone miserable.

i just thought it was a funny movie. hadn't anticipated how much identification would happen.

so, yeah. not easy.

My sister doesn't like to think that she is part of the family, except to get money. She never calls me unless she is mad at our mother. You can only do something with her if you go to her, she hardly ever comes to visit you, even if she is ten minutes down the road having fun. Oh and good luck getting invited to said fun activity she is doing. Her husband is worse. He doesn't like people so no one is allowed to go stay at their house. Oh and she pitched a fit when I told her I didn't want her to be matron of honor in my wedding but wanted my best friend to be maid of honor. That doesn't matter though, since it got cancelled. But eh, that's what friends are for. Way more like family.

Well me and Cindy are protected now. You can be soon.(don't know what is up with your promotion. Maybe we need to do some PG12.99999 things to get his attention  )

Leelou is a mystery to me. Maybe that last touch of lucidity before terminal madness.

Lol, PG-12.99999 I like it, should work well!

I have been semi-absent for the last 2 days and thought I'd log on tonight, late for my promotion ceremony, and find my promotion thread already spammed off the map... but alas!!

I'll take that second drink!

Bottoms up!!

To unliited love and good friends.

(Turin, that post and probably this whole thread should be cut and pasted into your guilty pleasures thread. My sentimental, sensitive, girly side doesn't come out of hiding very much at all. I don't usually admit to having such feelings. So consider this thread one of my guilty pleasures )
