*laughs* Well, the protocol used to be to stress the poor girl out with the whole Midnight Vigil and making her walk into the Hall of Swords all stiff and formal, expecting to be put the grill again, only to have one of those "surprise" confetti moments, instead. It generally goes: recruit walks in, everyone is standing around, recruit freaks out because she has to do this in front of the whole Ajah this time, recruit formally petitions the Head to join the Ajah, Ajah head calls her a ninny and hands her presents. Each active member of the Ajah presents the newest Green with a present during the course of the party that follows. These presents are usually pretty personal and they're the kind of thing that sticks with you forever.

 

For example, Lor was given a shawl that had tiny crossing swords and ancient AS symbols embroidered along the edge so she could wear it in Cairhien in public (from Lannie), a dagger (from Jade and another from Sirayn)... things you'll still find in Lor's rooms these days, even though they're nigh on 100 years old now.

What are we gonna do about Jade? She was the own who Kat first petitioned to, and she doesn't got all comatose till Main Timeline and this is retro'd about 7 decades before that...

Jade gave me permission to handle that angle if it came up, but we can always do a different point of view for it. Since Lor and Rasheta would both be there, we can always play the "this is what we overheard" version instead of putting words in Jade's mouth.

 

 

OR, we can try something a little different, in that the recruit has to petition the whole Ajah instead of just the Head. The difference would be that she approaches them all en masse and we get a round of Aye's, versus one person doing the accepting. I think it's been so long since one of these was done, we can get away with altering the tradition and creating one of our own. I think this is also a good way to get around this issue in the future, so I'm liking the way it's sounding. What do you think?

 

We can always make it the mentor's job to formally post the acceptance, too. That way as long as you had a mentor, there's someone who can say "The Sisters of the Green Ajah formally accept X-person into our Ajah. Let it be known throughout the world that X-person is a member of the Green Ajah." or some such formal wording we can dream up while we're on the topic. That would, naturally, only be posted after the active members of the Ajah have each given their Aye and gift to the recruit...

Which ever way sounds best to you guys, but I do like the mass welcome. It will scare the bejesus out of the recruits and make it more fun for the Full Sisters to participate in that. And more importantly it gets around the Head or Mentor going MiA. As long as there is someone left to 'make it official' its all good with me.

We're playing this as if Jade were still here, right? So, no one but Kathleen will address her directly, the rest of us will post what we see happening. So, it sorta goes like this:

 

 

Kathleen enters, scared out of her mind and afraid she'll be rejected again. Everyone has serious expressions (no smile cracking, folks!). She approaches Jade and asks to join the Green Ajah again. Jade will ask why she feels she is worthy of joining the Greens. Kathleen answers, Jade accepts her. We all approach one at a time and offer up gifts. :)

 

 

Feel free to fluff that up as much as you like! :D
