Optimistic lyrics

wow, i'm honored. cool song.

actually, though, i really think that love is gonna save the world. i just don't see it happening in my next million lifetimes.

but here, please try some bob.

this one is a favorite, but if you can learn to stand the voice, check out pressin' on, and then every single other thing he's ever written. and please forgive him his trespasses, cause he'd forgive you yours. unless he was in a mood.

... about the voice. this man can sing like an angel, as beautifully as johnny cash ever did (and that's saying something). . . he just chooses not to most of the time.

but if you listen long enough, you may come to love this voice, and hear the angel in it. and the devil, but try to ignore that part.

so yeah, i believe.

(please excuse the double post, i just realized that if you are not familiar with bob, you may have difficulty figuring out what he's singing, so here are the lyrics. and also, i remembered i was in shayol ghul, so i just wanted to say, go dark! you've got a good long stretch ahead of you before this love business turns the light back on. enjoy  )

Every Grain Of Sand

In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need

When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed

There’s a dyin’ voice within me reaching out somewhere

Toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair

Don’t have the inclination to look back on any mistake

Like Cain, I now behold this chain of events that I must break

In the fury of the moment I can see the Master’s hand

In every leaf that trembles, in every grain of sand

Oh, the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear

Like criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer

The sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way

To ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay

I gaze into the doorway of temptation’s angry flame

And every time I pass that way I always hear my name

Then onward in my journey I come to understand

That every hair is numbered like every grain of sand

I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night

In the violence of a summer’s dream, in the chill of a wintry light

In the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space

In the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face

I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea

Sometimes I turn, there’s someone there, other times it’s only me

I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man

Like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand

bob is irresistable.

thing is, he's been making music since 1962ish, and he still is, so there's something in there for everybody.

also, he's written many songs that you probably don't realize are his.

but once you become a bobaholic, every word is sacred.

praise bob.

'k, first of all, if you have no appreciation for parenthood or bill and ted, your taste is questionable. it is different from mine, in any case.

second of all, you don't udnerstand that pop needs none of those artistic merits you cite, so again, not on the same planet.

and third of all, those were some ace puppies. did you see the happy corgi? did you see how they all conquered evil with love and rambunctious playfulness and comforted the wounded and bereft? did you see how they saved the world with unconditional puppy love?

oh, mr chckn. have you no heart?
