One thing; wouldn't the Wheel of Time actually be a very gradual downward spiral?

As far as we can tell' date=' they're still subject to Entropy, so unless they're bringing matter in from other universes, or somehow magically reversing it, that would eventually destroy them. That might be a way out of the spiral for you, although not a very good one.[/quote']

There is a theory that the Universe won't "end" so to speak, it will eventually stop expanding and collapse back into itself, perpetuating another Big Bang.

What if the Ages encompass that. That is to say, what if the "Big Bang" was like the 6th Age. The first life on Earth could mark the 7th Age, and the 1st Age might be human civilization beginning.

The question then is... would Entropy still between cycles?

I don't think you could stop entropy without causing some serious weirdness in your world. It's integrated into everything.

If the cycle covers an entire universe's existence, then that's a possibility. The problem is that it seems to contradict RJ's statement that our Age influences Rand's age along both ways of the Wheel. That makes it seem more like the Creator either bent Time into a wheel at some point after a period of linear time, or simply created the universe in WoT out of whole cloth at a certain point of time.

Then the 5th Age will have to be as long as the other 6 combined.

It'd take as long for the universe to collapse in upon itself as it did for it to expand to the point of energy death.

The major problem I have with the theory that the say, 5th age = universe collapses, 6th age = big bang + earth ect ect. Is quite simply it would make the plot line a bit boring...

What I think is FAR more likely is something that expands on it a bit.

Every age is different from every age.

So the 1st age is not equal to the 2nd age, nor the 3rd, 4th,5th,6th, or the 1st. No two ages are identical.

Now the wheel is described like a Loom, or something of that nature.. *spinning cotton into thread*

So here we have all these events going on in an 'age'. Each age produces a Thread.

A full turning of a wheel produces a segment of a picture. And there can be houndreds of thousands of turnings of the wheel before we the picture is completely done. And I think, that when the picture happens is when the universe collapses back in on its self.

And the big bang, would be just a new picture/thread ect all starting up again.

And depending on what theory you go on...

Every 'portal world' could be a past fulllllll turning of the wheel.

If you remember that one movie with that guy who said he was an alien.. He basically said that wha tyou do now is very important, becuase as time goes on, the universe wll collapse, and everything you do now, will happen again. For infinity, So you need to get it right the first time.

One of the ideas behind that is if there is only 1 universe, how can there be parrallel realities? How? Well one anwer is in a Different Time.

But then theres a thing called M Theory, which makes that idea completley bogus.. but in a sci-fi novel it acn make some sense. well until its disproved that is. And wot is science fantasy. :P Well more so, Fantasy with a sci-fi background story.
