Saga of Seven Suns

Anybody read this series? I saw it in B&N today and it looked interesting. Curious to know what it's like.

From what I know about Kevin J Anderson, he's not a great technical writer and his stories are basic, but he's extremely proliferate and popular in the sci-fi world.

 

I've never heard of the series before though.

I haven't read it just yet, but like you saw it and was quite intrigued. Managed to find the books 2nd hand for $1 each too. So shall start reading them soon and will let you know.

I read four of Anderson's STAR WARS books and thought they were the worst books I'd ever read in my entire life. Then I, reluctantly and with gritted teeth, read six of his DUNE books and they were about ten times worse.

 

I also read one of his own, non-tie-in books years ago and it was better, as in it just barely passed muster as a vaguely interesting book. So this series may approach adequacy (since it's Anderson's own invention, not a tie-in).

 

Generally speaking, though, there's probably a thousand writers in the SFF field alone you'd be better off reading first.
