(Picks one up and examines a switch that reads "On", "Off" and "Malevolent Sentience" with the switch turned to the latter.)

it's gonna be ok. i havent had a battery in the smoke alarm in years. i had a chimney fire in a wood stove and i smelled smoke hours before the alarm ent off.

i got those insulated curtains, they worl really well, and not expensive at all on sale. like $10 for a big window. saved a lot on heat last winter. no light, but the side windows are always open for that.
