DM Handle: KeyHolder21

Total Characters in Aiel Guild (this one included): 1

Character name: Rixan Coldring

Age: 24

Clan: Dragonmount

Role: Wise One (apprentice until I rp her training; Dreamwalker, though not a channeler)

WS assigned by FL Staff: 8

Physical appearance: 6’3 feet, 150 pounds, blue eyes, dark red hair that is stick straight and lands at about the middle of her back

Physical weakness & strength: Rixan is very right side dominant. While she is Aiel and therefore trained in weaponry, she favors her right side greatly. Her strength is that she’s quick (both in speed and thinking).

Personality: Rixan is an extremely friendly girl; she is quick to laugh and an open book, insofar as an Aiel can be. She and her brother were raised by their greatmother, a Wise One, so Rixan is very observant and extremely skilled at easing tense situations. Even as a teenager her advice for solving feuds was sound. Somehow, when she solves a conflict both sides tend to walk away amicably. Her very presence seems to put people at ease. She is fiercely loyal to her greatmother and brother as they are her only remaining family.

Personality weakness: Since Rixan was raised by a Wise One, she feels as if she constantly has to live up to her greatmother – and therefore has toh to her greatmother because she cannot. She also is very hard on herself if there is ever a conflict that she cannot solve right away, or solve with both parties happy.

Personality strength: Rixan is honorable, dependable, and responsible. She is easy to get along with and very fair. As mentioned above, she is very good at solving conflicts and having all parties involved walk away happy. She also has the ability to put people at ease, or calm them – knowing just what to say or how to act.

History:

---ooc note for a minute: I wasn’t sure what the status of the Aiel in the PSW was (ie: have the crossed the wall, is rhuidean un-mistified, is avendesora charred, etc., so I tried to make it as vague as possible. I can change this if you need me to… end note-

Rixan and Jaeric, her brother, never knew their parents. Their mother woke from the dream due to a sickness she contracted during childbirth and their father was wakened on a water raid eighteen months later. Their mother’s mother – their greatmother – raised the twins. Though she was extremely strict, Maldrena was fond of the two children. Her time as a Wise One had been peppered with difficult, tense situations and she raised the children with the ability to diffuse these problematic times. Thus, it was no surprise when Jaeric became a member of the Aethan Dor society, and Rixan followed in her greatmother’s footsteps by becoming apprenticed to the Wise Ones.

She wasn’t always an apprentice, though. Well before her Wise One training, Rixan had a love of jewelry making. Apparently this was just like her mother, as her mother had crafted many beautiful pieces that the women of Clan Dragonmount wore. Though her detailing wasn’t nearly as good as her mother’s, Rixan’s pieces were elegant and beautiful in their simplicity. She spent many a day as a young teenager working with other members of her tribe to make these exquisite pieces. If she hadn’t become an apprentice then she probably would have continued on in the jewelry trade.

That wasn’t meant to be though. From a young age Rixan was an observant child. Though she used this talent for many things, she excelled at reading people and adjusting her words and actions to calm others down. Additionally, she was extremely friendly and her happiness seemed to leak out of her and soak into others. After a visit with Rixan people just seemed to feel better.

With her calming aura and her Wise One greatmother, it had been destined for Rixan to join the ranks of the Wise Ones. She had been seventeen, no longer a child, not yet a fully grown woman, when she’d been chosen to train as an apprentice. At the time, Rixan had been wavering between jewelry making and becoming a Maiden. Some of her best friends were Maidens and the girl had keen eyes. In fact, she’d been discussing joining the society with a close friend when a Wise One had stalked up to her and ‘requested’ her presence on the slopes of Rhuidean.

From that request, it was quite obvious that her future had been decided for her. Rixan was to become a Wise One apprentice. The Maiden had nodded sharply and turned on her heel, jogging back to where several other Maidens were joking with some Stone Dogs. This left Rixan alone with her thoughts. Whereas she had felt balanced on the edge of a blade, a decision about her future sure to push her down one side or the other, the idea of becoming a Wise One didn’t feel like a question at all. It felt …right. It was good thing she hadn’t agreed to join the Maidens just now or she would have owed toh to the Maidens and to the Wise Ones!

The girl set out the next morning. As she traveled, it was clear that another woman – about her age, was traveling to the ancient city as well. The two met up at the next water hole and traveled together. They reached the slopes of Rhuidean in just under a week. Six Wise Ones were gathered there. They were even standing outside the tent as if they had known the girls would arrive today. They probably had known.

The rest of the day was spent in instructing the two girls. The next morning at first light, Rixan and her compatriot stripped at the behest of the group of Wise Ones. The girl steeled herself as her greatmother turned her back. Pivoting on a bare heel, the girl ran with the other toward Rhuidean, determined to succeed now that her future seemed so clear. Sun beat down on her, the normally unexposed skin soon ripening into a rosy pink color. She ran onward until the ancient city loomed before her, and then loomed all around her. Her eyes were drawn to the large tree, Avendesora and Rixan felt all the nervousness that had been creeping up through her go away at the sight of that tremendous tree that had withstood the test of time. The rings stood a bit beyond the large tree. Rixan drew in a deep breath and then jogged through the first Arch.

Alone and yet not alone.

Children. Many.

A trying test.

A satisfying conclusion.

Awareness.

Rixan jogged back to the camp. Her entire body was sore from her time in the Arches and so was her heart. It would be a painful future. There were bright spots, of course, or it wouldn’t be worth it, but a lot of pain. Her heart thumped wildly at the visions of her future. It beat erratically at the thought of losing her brother and greatmother in such a short time. She longed for innocence in ignorance of the future, but was proud that she had been chosen. She longed for a sweat tent, longed for rest, but her feet kept moving. This was, after all, only the beginning.
