RP Group: Children of the Light

Faction: Hand of the Light

Character Name: Blais Odrade

Age: 20

Homeland: Darein, a village west of Tar Valon

Physical Description: Lean, wiry frame. Black hair pulled back in a ponytail. Green eyes. Height is 5’9” and weight is 160 lbs.

Personality: Used to be a good-natured boy with a penchant for making people laugh. Now is a bitter young man with a mean streak and penchant for rude comments and crude jokes, often landing him in more trouble than he can handle.

History:

Blais grew up the son of a merchant and cook. His mother, Gayle, works at a local inn called The Dancing Sheep. His father, Willem, is close friends with a retired soldier from the White Tower named Josef, whose wife had passed away before they were able to have children. Josef treated Blais like the son he never had, and Blais looked to Josef as a good friend. As a child, Blais always seemed to be telling jokes and goofing off instead of doing chores, much to the dismay of his parents, and much to the delight of Josef.

As Blais became a young man, he worked part of the time with his father and part of the time with his mother, and preferred to spend his free time with Josef. They would usually just sit and talk, with Josef telling fantastic stories of battle and heroism. In Blais’ eyes, Josef was a hero. Life like this continued for several more years. But once Blais turned 20, an incident changed his life forever – and Josef was at the center of it.

The day began like any other, with Blais helping his mother to prepare the early meals and prep for the midday meals, and then going with his father for some deliveries to nearby villages. By evening, Blais was famished and eager to eat dinner. He hurried to Josef’s house, looking to bring him over for dinner. As he entered the front door, he saw Josef talking to another man, and what he heard Josef say froze his blood, and haunts him to this day.

"The Great Lord of the Dark will reward you for helping me."

Blais snuck back out of the house, and hurried to his own. He ran to his room and barricaded the door.

The Great Lord of the Dark.

That was a name only used by Darkfriends. Blais knew it – everybody did. Josef was a Darkfriend! His hero. Blais felt betrayed, and at that moment, he knew hatred for the first time, and it took root in his heart. He hated Josef. He hated Darkfriends. He told his parents, thinking they would help him to bring this Darkfriend to justice. On the contrary, his parents didn’t believe him and were outraged at his accusation. They demanded that Blais apologize to Josef and said they were deeply disappointed in their son. Blais then knew suspicion for the first time, as his own family wouldn’t believe him. Were they Darkfriends as well? Who else was?

That night, he quietly packed his bags and left his home. He spent a few hours and a few silver at a nearby village’s tavern, and learned his destination: Amador. To the one group of people he knew would believe him, and help him. The Children of the Light. He would learn everything he could, and bring Josef and all Darkfriends to the justice they deserved. Death.

Very enticing bio, consider it CC'd! I'm going to keep an eye out for this one, very interested in where his path will lead.
