I might have even read somewhere that the loot is class tailored anyway, so if you're a Barbarian you'll never see a wizard's staff dropped, sort of thing. Unless it's green items or similiar, I assume, but I could be wrong.

 

Either way, you won't miss what you don't see, so if some jerkass decides not to hand over the awesome Wand of +20 to Skeleton or whatever, you'll never know about it anyway!

makes it much harder when you have more than one character if that is true

Or that much more easy to gear out your other characters, as all the gear you can actually use. :P
