The Taint

So, we have 'After the Taint' and 'Use a Pebble'--linked because Verin compares the cleansing of the taint to a pebble thrown in a pond, ripples spreading. This issue was also raised with Harine, Elza and Corele.

 

So. What do we think? One thought of mine was this might be someone finally thinking to look to Aiel men for channelers. Rand, or the Wise Ones, or both as a result of a random Aiel man sparking, directly facing the issue.

 

I would have thought this would be Aes Sedai dealing with the knowledge, perhaps figuring out where men will fit in the world, but clearly the drama at the Black Tower is not just the debate of equality, so i now doubt that thought.

The chapter title "Use a Pebble" makes me think of an anouncement. Like the comparison Verin used. How to make people understand men channeler are not a threat anymore? Make a gigantic anouncement, on the Tammuz place in Illian, and say the taint has been cleansed. The peeble thrown in the pond of ignorance, with the ripples spreading slowly, but spreading nonetheless.

 

Or that could be just a chapter in the Black TOwer, where Asha'man are arguing like Aes Sedai about what to do about it. (About the recruiting, perhaps)

Could be something to do with male channelers among teh Sea Folk. That was still a big thing for Rand and something he was really pushing for. Or maybe the world coming to accept that Saidin has been Cleansed in general, although I am not sure how that could happen.

aiel male who can be taught though whether or not there is time to teach them,is an issue.

 

could be egwene in the Tower making a declaration that saidin is now clean and that male channelers can be safely bounded or something like that? though that can be only part of the chapter.

I always assumed that the Dark One had an army of turned Aiel male channelers. A bunch of channelers just traveling to the blight, never to be heard from again?

I think it's the world coming to terms with no more tainted Saidin. I've said before we will probably start seeing a younger looking Damer Flinn.

They were the "clues" we had to find during the Great Hunt to unlock the Seven Striped Lass, which is chapter 8. There is a link somewhere, but I am new here and also using the iPhone app so I am not sure how to post it.
