Ok, so I did a little digging and found this thread: http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,21247.0.html

 

According to the layout in that thread, the Second Petition, the Midnight Vigil, Battle Weaves and the Second Petition are all optional, but they go towards becoming a Defender.

 

What are your thoughts?

 

 

PS- the WS of 5 is still a requirement for Accepted who petition the Greens for acceptance.

I think it's a good idea and I think anyone who wants to do it should be allowed, but I am so glad it's not required anymore.

I actually never understood the point of the battle weaves etc. I was told they were not optional when I was raised. So i've been trying to get the dang things done. LOL I think I finished the battle weaves. I think my WS is like 1 or 2 I can't remember. I think i'll just have the boys...aka the warders. Finish that up for me if I can ever find the freaking time. *sigh*

The good news is that getting it up to five is pretty easily done in  a few posts. ;)

Why do we do the midnight vigil etc? And what are defender points?

Midnight vigil is like the night of contemplation that all Aes Sedai have to go through to go through the 3 oaths. The Ajah Head wants you to consider what your reasons for going Green are and reflect on the things you have done during your initiation. The next morning at dawn you go before the entire ajah to do your second petition.

So its a requirement for all the Ajahs not just ours? I knew what you just said Jade i'm just not sure why we do it. *laughs* I'm done with the battle weaves so does that mean my defender points go up? *is still clueless on what those do for me*

LOL we do it because it was required of us by the DL at one point. The WS of 5 actually came down from the Incarns, and I am not sur if that has ever changed. Also not sure if I said this before but we were required to do all of it by the DL because we had alot of members, it was to attract members to other ajahs. When it was finally dropped along with the no recruiting for Greens rule, we decided to make it optional, but it would always be something that was part of our traditions IC.

Besides, in doing the vigil, you have an entire night to pester a green until she tells you everything they haven't told you before you walk in for a 2nd petition. I cornered Sirayn for mine and I enjoyed that RP more than Battle Weaves!

Me to Midnight Vigil was my favorite rp of all of those and always has been. I have gone back to read it many times since than. *G*
