March Bandness

Recommended Posts

Alright so, here in St Louis we have this rock icon.  It is a radio station called KSHE 95.  They have been rocking the Gateway City for more than 40 years.  For the past several years in sequence with College Hoops(March Madness), KSHE runs their March Bandness, a bracketed competition pitting various rock acts against each other, much like the competitions Corki has been running here.  I know this doesn't fit in with the Classical Month theme, but I thought it would be interesting to see some people's bracket choices.

Alrighty the newest stats and data reveal that GNR batters STP, Bon Jovi says "No" to Yes, and the Beatles down Alice Cooper.  Elsewhere Jethro Tull loses to Alice in Chains and Stevie Ray Vaughn plucks the Byrds.  Rounding out today's action, the mighty Led Zeppelin has overshadowed Kansas.

We are just about half way through the first round of brackets.  Keep checking in for more updates.  ;)

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have now seen a dramatic upset, as 11th ranked Daughtry unseats the number 6 ranked Bob Dylan.  In other matchups, Aerosmith steps all over Steppenwolf, CCR says fooey to the Foo Fighters, and ACDC tends to Soundgarden.

OH SNAP!!  We got ourselves an upset.

First The Who shot down Jefferson Airplane, followed by Nirvana taking the sting out of the Scorpions.  Green day played the stiff arm to drown Emerson, Lake and Palmer, while Queen sent Judas Priest to the chopping block.  Finally in the biggest upset to date in the Tourney, 3rd ranked Cream was curdled by the 14th ranked REO Speedwagon.

Things are getting interesting now, with only 5 first round matchups remaining who will have the best shot of taking it all.

Okay in the last day of action for the first round we have the results for all but one matchup.  Looks like Ozzy has Ratt in a trap, while the Doors have been shut on the Black Crowes.  Skynard left Seether....well seething, and we await the results of the Whitesnake/Rush matchup.

Down from the original 64, to 32.  Who will come out on top to make the sweetmeat 16?  Will any of our number 1 picks(Hendrix, Metallica, Pink Floyd, or Sammy Hagar) be toppled?  Will our lowest seed, 14th ranked REO pull another upset out to advance again?  Keep your eyes here as we find out.

In the first three decisions of the second round we have the first top seed knockout as Van Halen sends Jimi Hendrix to the Watchtower.  Pink Floyd and Metallica retain their number one rankings taking out Black Sabbath and Motley Crue, respectively.
