OMG!!!!, I am in awe, again. I started reading EOTW again 3 days ago. finished it last night. could. not. stop. reading.  I remember it being the best book(s) I have ever read, but I dont remember it being THAT good... and now I cannot stop thinking about their world, and their people, and what will happen in the other 10(11) books. This is the only set of books that I have reread, and I am more than glad I started. Ideas and more ideas... my head is bursting with ideas. None of which (unfortunately) realisable, but all of which already realised in my head. But why am I talking about my ideas, there is :o in me thanks to EOTW. rl is dead to me, there is only randland.

ohh... plenty, some not related to the WoT world at all.. but most notable would be a community made film (as in completly community organised, scripted, etc), which would be made with minimal (ie $0.00) cost, and only for the love of it. anyone could help, anyone could watch, ANYONE!

 

fanfiction backstory, parallel story, legends/myths/fables, future, etc... (though I guess they already exist in abundance) is another one, but I mean a collective, "serious" kinda projectythingy

 

see, I told you they were all crazy :)

The human has buried itself under a sheen of shiny objects, alas.  People would rather worry about not being able to afford the biggest and best TV, rather than why they keep acting like a fool ;)  The world would be a lot better place if more people would be willing to look inside themselves and come to terms with what they find there.  Alas, oneself is a fairly messy tangle of briars and unpleasant revelations... so 'ignorance is bliss' tends the rule the day.

 

But that's just my opinion on things.

 

Fan films, I have to admit, would be a lovely thing to see more of.  You might be able to find some like-minded sorts in the Illuminators Org, perhaps.  But if you're a writing sort, we're always welcoming new people down in the roleplay half of the site!  The main roleplay (the Dragon Reborn Portal Stone World/DR PSW) is based on and follows the books, but we also have the Turnings board (Revolution One) that is a free-for-all for any sort of roleplaying.

 

Anyways, the best way to find out what's around is to check it out yourself.  There's plenty to do and see, so.  <3

hey, thanks :) but I cant write, and thats why all my ideas/projects are ultimately fruitless..  do you think many people would be willing to help/participate in that project? alas I have no skills at all in filmmakery, or in many other worthwhile professions, I can code but that is about it.

And as I am about to start book 2, I am afraid to say I have forgotten who/what most of the groups do :o hehe, even though I have read all and cherished every minute of it, I cant remember it. I guess I read too much too fast... so many stories so little time

 

Also, I have been here before.. though last time stayed for no time atall. it was at the time of the loss of RJ, and I paid tribute to what was and still is one of the greatest writers I have ever come across. thanks to him I can live in my thoughts and fall in love with non-existent people and places. and thats just the first book :o

 

ahha!, another one of my ideas has reminded itsself to me. a grand vision (again) yet I cannot stop but think about it. A software that shows/renders a userbuilt world in a 3d perspective could be developed, and an addition to such a software could be written that let you walk around in that world. ofcourse being FOSS it could be extended further, to allow scripts/choreography to be preprogrammed and filmed in this world. *cough* self filming film :D would just need the speakers and the script. now where to get a 3d world rendering software from.. hmmm I guess we would have to make it...

I convinced my brother to start reading them an age ago, he is on the 4th one now, I fear I will overtake him before newyear :D

hehe, your idea's arnt that far fetched, I mean when you ask me and my brother what we think a WoT MMO should look like we could tell you every aspect of what we think it should look like from charicter creation to how it would interact with the storyline (Step by step mind you). But sadly the rights were bought by Red Eagle Entertainment a while back so unless I get though Highschool and get a collage degree I doubt they would listen to my compleatly insainly good idea.

 

And "Ignorance is Bliss" Does rule the day, but then I gave up on getting the biggest and best of everything when I started Rping, the old stuff looks alot better then the new stuff (But the new flat screen for my PC was kinda over due since the old one exploded) But then...looking into oneself often drives the persion insain with what they find there....could be worse, you could have a dog sitting on your arm as you try and type..... ;D

thanks for the welcome. and truly... if the community made an open source product, who would be able to stop them? the fact that something like money is allowed to halt human creation is purely the most awful thing ever... even the fact that you cant live without either breaking the law, or having money (food) is just WTF!

Empy would say the 'Chan, just like I would say the Band of the Red Hand. Have a look at all the ORGs to get a taste of what each place is like, and choose that way.

 

But the best place for intellectuals is probably the discussion boards...though that could also be for geekiness as well...

Ummm... you don't have to join an org or you could just join em all.  It doesn't really matter yo.  Basically when you join you get access to boards.  Then if you don't like what you read or the feel of the org, just don't bother checking the org.  Eventually the org leader will purge you from their group.

Hrm.... hopefully Cleo or one of her staff can confirm or deny, but I'm pretty sure that one of the Illuminators thingies was some sort of online Emond's Field mock-up.  I can't remember what the site is called that it's probably on, and I've not peeked at it in many many years.
