gender re-reversal and lost knowledge

Considering the way threads get off topic in this forum, I though I would post a double.

 

The 3rd age is still caught up with the 'folly' of male leadership, symbolized by the taint.  Rand has cleansed the taint but of course the world is slow to acknowledge change.  Given that our (very sexist) world is supposed to be the distant future (and past - wheels are funny like that), I propose that the end of the 3rd age will see a distrust of female leadership spearheaded by the collapse of Aes Sedai power, laying the groundwork for the sexism of our age.

 

 

I believe that most of the libraries (and Rand's schools) in Randland will be razed (including the famous Tower library), and most of the knowledge of the AoL and the 3rd age will be lost by the end of the series.  RJ has established the theme of fading and lost knowledge too strongly to have the books end with massive unharmed databases of information all over the place.  Some gems will be left over like the steam engine, artillery, etc.

1) the world isn't as sexist as it used to be to validate u saying "very sexist" but that neither here nor there, the main thing i wanted to call you up on was...

A lot of clues in the books, combined with several comments from RJ has told us that the 1st Age (the age before the AOL) is our world.

That said, since there are four ages to go before the first age comes again, I can not see anything happening in the books doing any groundwork for what will happen several thousand years later.

 

As for sexism in our world, just because there has been some improvement in some aspects of society, the situation is far from fine and dandy. Heck, just look at some of the threads on this very board.

I was speaking in general terms, not about the recent advances in modern countries.  Throughout history there have been societies with various levels of sexism, but on the whole our world has been pretty sexist.  Even today in the United States many women are treated like glass, or worse, abused.

Remember when Nynaeve found the chrome Benz hood ornament in Tanchio?  There are many other (and more convincing) reasons.  Look through the Encyclopedia.

actually it was Egwene who first found it in TAR. off course i don't know if Nynaeve finds it for real afterwards, but still

just because our world was the 1st age does not mean when the wheel returns to that point it will be exactly the same.  the wheel spins out infinate variations
