i think its just better if it is an abrbatriry if you have to remove them from the game for any reason, it will just be as if they never signed up (er my spreadsheet for the board just has the raw points put in and it does the rest for me so no points will not show the person as having played in that game) if its an abritry rule then you dont need to go around working out where the line should be. maybe they can get a bonus point if its really deserved like for a new kivam gambit gambit or something but baring that keeping it the same for all seems the fairest. but there should be some kind of active deterent for repeat  absentees, like a black list where the mod can refuse them to play, or a ban after a certain nuber of games they are inactive in

loki, that's why i was very unclear on it. i don't know if there can be a line drawn that's satisfactory.

Maybe the ruling should be with the mod of the game and points/penalties be at the discretion of the mod?

i could only agree to that if it is very explicitly stated before the sign ups and before the game what will be done to said players.
