Many long years ago, or perhaps, in many years yet to come…

well the truth is that its not exactly certain where on the timeline we are, so maybe it is just best to say; Once upon a time…

 

Once upon a time, a heady combination of: invasive virtual reality, temportal reasoning techniques and a strange meaty product made from pork and ham that seemed to turn up everywhere, made it possible to visit the worlds of fiction, and live out the adventures in books. In the beginning the giddy masses all over the world flocked in droves to try out a the new and novel way of escaping the hum and drum of everyday existence and live in the worlds of fantasy.

 

Even the rumours disappearances and horrific accidents didn’t slow sales of the wondrous machines, many still revelling in the chance to enter their favourite worlds - despite the ever more evident risks.

 

Then the government stepped in and as these things are wont to do, the whole enterprise moved underground. Some literally so, as was the most notorious of these, Down the Rabbit Hole, a club solely for the purpose of any nefarious doing you could name, and using the machines soon became the most popular illegal activity by far.

 

So of course when your friend, Monty, rings up and asks if you want to come to his party, you agree immediately;

“Alice In Wonderland theme! Awesome, that the best one, I‘ll be there!”

And so with those fatefull words you end up scurrying furtively to the club

 

 

You queue with Monty,  and eventually pass under the baleful gaze of a huge bouncer, carrying a loaded shotgun disguised as an umbrella.  You are taken deep into the maze of catacombs that make up the club, until you arrive at your destination.  I very unassuming wooden door. One by one you all file into the room  surprisingly large and filled with books, and in the centre is The Machine. 

 

“Wow, its a multireader-3001AX” exclaims Wes

“The one where you can have more than one book and it combines them? coolbeans” says Danya

 

“Alright, Alright, but we agreed on just Alice and Wonderland ..this time anyway” winks Monty

 

And thake, you and the other partygoers strap in and put on the gear. It’s then things start to go wrong.

 

The bouncer from earlier bursts in, seeming fighting a rearguard action, against pirates on the pillage, who are demanding rum, wenchs and treasure. As the altercation rages in the room, bookcases go flying and the last thing you see, of the real world, are books cascading into the book reading funnel and against the central control board of the multireader-3001AX.

 

Moments later all is calm. Now the scene is a peaceful meadow, with bluebirds chiriping and … a table, set out for high tea. Everything is going to be ok now you think, although you seem to have gathered some extra party members and you feel like your hiding under a second skin.

 

Then the white rabbit speeds by, looking to late to even slow down, and he passes by, and when you turn back, the Hatter is standing there with a manic toothy grin

“welcome one and all to my tea party, I hope you enjoy it since you can never leave! Now who wants tea?”

 

You sup the drink and relax in the chair, not feeing too scared of the Hatter’s threat, its only a story after all.

 

Then Monty starts choking, and you are about to pat him on the back when you realise blood is pouring out of his ears and nose and mouth. Moments later he is dead. Not even a pulse. You blanch and so do the rest. Even here death is permanent. You’ve heard the rumours, of when the safeguards slip off, its why they were banned.

 

“Ah, I knew one was poisoned, just couldn’t remember which” beams the Hatter

“Oh and something else, some friends of mine have decided to rebel, but well, you all seem to have become intermingled with other characters too, so well give you a fighting chance. If we kill most of you they’ll steal your bodies and go off to enjoy the real world, however if you kill them, then we’ll let you go”

 

And it seems that you have no choice but to play along…

4 - Random person is killed

5- No one is killed

 

Votes- everyone will begin with a vote on themselves. There will be no unvoting.

Quoting Mod PMs: allowed but remember they can be faked quoting the pictures is not allowed however

 

Inactivity: anyone inactive(non LOA) for more than 48 hours will be sent a warning, both on the thread and via pm. They will then have a further 21 hours to become active. Then they may be replaced or modkilled depending on the whim of the mod.
