I cant help thinking Shaidar and Moridin are the same bloke. I have brought this up on other threads and had many in depth debates about it, but I still cant shake off the feeling

I disagree. I think it's pretty clear that Shaidar Haren holds some small aspect of the Dark One within him. Only a small part, an avatar in the exact sense of the idea, but still thats my feel.

I definately don't see Shaidar Haren holding any part of Elan Morin Tedronai's soul in him.

Well, SH is the only Myrddraal we've ever seen who displays any emotion.  The earliest ( and least developed ) version of him that we've ever seen ( in all likelihood ) was the Myrddraal who accompanied a badly burned and not completely healed Ba'alzamon at the DF soiree at the beginning of TGH.

So, if they are now one-and-the-same-being, they weren't until after Baalzy finally died for real at the Stone of Tear.

Them being one-and-the-same also implies that Slayer is not unique in being someone who can appear as two different people depending on the circumstance.  Isam and Luc really aren't ( weren't? ) identical twins in appearance.

Of course, if they do turn out to be the same, that brings up the question of how many others are there that have two souls in the same body?  If we start postulating that Slayer isn't unique after all, that opens up a whole world of nasty possibilities.

Get some pro-plus as well, and some candles and matches in case your electric goes off. Hahaha

I really hope the link between Rand and Moridin has a big part to play. If I was RJ I would have put a lot into that link. It could be used to build up towards them fighting-Moridin taunting Rand, Rand finally learning who Moridin is, Rand figuring out how to do stuff with the link...I remember Rand thinking "if either one of them moved a hairswidth, they will touch." I am dying to find out whats going on there.

The way RJ interpreted the word, SH is not an avatar of the DO.

WinespringBrother: Is Shaidar Haran an avatar to the world beyond the Bore?

Jordan: I am not certain you can really call him an avatar because I generally think of an avatar as having exactly the same powers as, and it is not, Shaidar Haran does not have nearly as much power as the Dark One. Its as though the Dark One is able to project a shadowy form of himself into this creatureit is the Dark One in shadowy form.

WinespringBrother: Is it twenty four seven, or just part time.

Jordan: Twenty four seven.

And of course, if nothing else has helped, that quote definitly kills any attempts to speak of Moridin = SH.
