Thanks Inara. I am happy with my lineups, but they aren't perfect...

This was like my 3rd or 4th iteration.

 

A lot of people (myself included) won't like the exclusion of Moiraine. I couldn't justify replacing Elayne with Moiraine, but it's a close call. I like Moiraine more than Elayne, but Elayne has been in the books throughout, now bearing Rand's kids, etc... Still, it's close.

 

Personally, I like the towers/mountains as Rooks. Unfortunately this means 4 less characters can make the cut. So some people might not like this.

 

SH as a dark knight: I included him rather than a dead or recycled male Forsaken. He sort of sticks out as the non Forsaken, but to me he fits. Taim or Fain really don't deserve "top 6" status.

 

Maidens as pawns: good but not great. In lieu of a generic "soldier of light" piece, what is there? Since so many others used Maidens in their lists, it's as good as anything else. I do like the visual of the maiden squaring across from the trolloc. (maiden croucing, spear raised; trolloc lunging, teeth and/or tusks bared.) Again there is a lack of quality contenders. Band of Red Hand? Manetheren? Children of light? I did have a similar idea to another poster about leaders/generals of Randland nations, but I thought that did not parallel well with the generic "trolloc" dark pawn. So Maidens sort of win by default.

 

For the board, I would use the familiar map of Randland image, with alternating black etched on white and white etched on black graphics.

 

If production costs are not an issue, we can make "alternate queens" So you can have 2 queens with the set, play with one (either Egwene or Moiraine) and pawn promote to the other. So Moiraine fans will be less displeased. You would have to mix/match the Female Forsaken to get an acceptable lineup, or just have Lanfear and Cyndane, so the possibility exists that you could "recycle" her during a game.

that sounds really cool, and even though moiraine is such a great chraracter (one of my favs),egwene makes more sense as the queen, she is the amyrlin after all. swappig her an moir around could be a great alternative though.

 

what could happen if there was enough money...there could be multiple possibilities for all the back row pieces, or even just a couple, thaey could be sold seperatly so the diehard moir fans get their queen.

 

maidens v trollocs...i cant think of a better option for pawns, and shadar haran is the right hand of the DO....

myrdralls are too cool not to be represented by their best brightest version. the blacks would never be evil enough without the look of the eyeless.
