Unless the overall intent is for everyone to go all the way through TG without having any "aHA" moments, I'd say not.

 

I think Egwene is destined to come to a pretty accurate appreciation of reality.  If so, she should realize that those five were operating blind, and really had no choice in how they proceeded.  Especially once they began to uncover the BA.

Egwene shouldn't try the hunters or even reprimand them - since she goes by 'the end justifies the means' herself. She doesn't have any moral right to try them after she blackmailed Myrelle and Nisao into swearing to her, after all.

First, please understand that I agree with your point.

 

But, Egwene is trying to become what she believes an Aes Sedai should be.  The AS, at least since the Breaking, have been almost entirely an 'end justifies the means' group.  It would not be unthinkable that, if she is determined to return them to what they started out to be, she would discipline them anyway.

 

Of course, then she would become the one operating under the banner of 'the end justifies the means.' ;D

 

Once the ball of yarn becomes sufficiently tangled, it's nigh impossible to untangle without doing some violence to the fabric.  This is just one of several balls of yarn she has to untangle.  Her choices for all the untangling will be "interesting."

Then, logically, she'll have to 'discipline' herself too for what she did (and that was low) with the two Lan-handlers (and they didn't commit any crime whatsoever, just did something that was not done for a long time).

Slightly OT here: just had a nightmare - Egwene gets the rod from the hunters, thinks that their method was great, and decides that from now on every AS has to swear fealty to her personally (for the sake of the unity, of course; and to counter Rand who's, as she thinks, used compulsion on some AS). Amyrlin turns into a Fuehrerin, AS into SS.
